Samsung I7500 :: Language Support / English GUI With Norwegian Keyboard Android Setup
Aug 26, 2009If I were to purchase a Samsung I7500 in Norway, will it have a Norwegian version of Android? Or do all Android phones have an English GUI? My ideal setup would be English GUI with Norwegian keyboard.

Jan 5, 2013It seems there is a general voice search / voice recognition issue with non-english languages. The problem is basically that punctuation is written in plain and not recognized. It seems to affect a number of devices (if not all?) running ICS / JB.
So period will write "period" and not "." .
Same for comma that will end in writing "comma" and not ",".
(this of course in each different Language)
This basically makes the voice recognition totally unusable and useless for anything but English. So far, this issue has been reported with the following languages:
French
German
Spanish
Italian

Jul 6, 2010i'm pretty happy with the stock keyboard on my HTC DESIRE but i get really annoyed that there is no fast key for switching between the input language. i live in sweden and write often in either swedish or english and would like a keyboard that has a button on it somewhere for fast switching between these two languages.
as it is now, i go into options and select the language which is not so bad to do once a week but its a pain when your switching 10 times a day. and why do reviewers say the android keyboard is no good and always praise the iphone one? is the stock keyboard really that bad? whats a good alternative?

Oct 16, 2013I have android 4.3 AOSP keyboard, which works nice, but I want to add my language dictionary to it.
Main problem is that I have some brut.Androlib errors when compiling this one (when decompiling, no issues appear), and when I check if the APKTool added my wanted files to the apk I can only see that it almost recompiled the original file ('almost' because when I push it to the system/app dir, my system doesn't see this keyboard).
Another, less important question, can I use dictionary from another keyboard app (I guess I can, but just want to be sure)?

Mar 4, 2013Currently I'm running SlimBean 4.2.2 on I9000, which probably stripped the stock keyboard off most languages.I came from CM10.1 in which gesture/word suggestion typing worked in all languages.I was wondering if it is possible to add additional languages manually? Or maybe take the complete android stock keyboard out of the CM zip file and install it in my ROM.

Dec 9, 2009The Samsung Galaxy K4 firmware update includes a new virtual keyboard alternative, named "Samsung keyboard", in addition to the stardard "Android keyboard". (Sorry, I have yet to succeed in taking screen shots; I will post some if I find any.) What are your thoughts on this? There are a bunch of different layouts ("Qwerty", "12 keypad", "20 keypad"), all accessible from a popup menu. All layouts seem to be missing a shift key (relying instead of a popup selection for "abc"/"Abc"/"ABC"/"Numeric and symbols"/"Emoticons"), and there seems to be no press-for-variants feature to access characters with umlauts. You can set the keyboard language. Available languages are: Automatic (based on carrier?), English, German, Dutch, Polish, French, Czech, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese.
All layouts use T9 prediction, and the dictionary adapts to the selected language. Also, it appears that the dictionary is not shared with the Andoid user dictionary (accessible within Settings->Locale). I like that they've done it. It shows that Samsung have not completely given up support for this device, that they do have developers assigned to it. The keys are nice and large, and they've made good use of the landscape format. I don't know if they are using a context-sensitive key-enlarging-function like HTC have, but my typo rate seems to have decreased. I find the lack of a shift key very inconvenient, especially when entering passwords. Having to open a popup to enter a capital is two, three, maybe four additional taps -- they could have made much better use of long-press and off-key swipes. The lack of the press-for-variants feature means that, if you require umlauts, you must either switch to the appropriate language or, if it doesn't exist, use another keyboard. Since none of the Scandinavian languages are supported, I cannot use this keyboard.

In my oppinion, this chinese keyboard is not user friendly and hard to use. so I tried to change any settings that related to keyboard and language but still my Keyboard still in chinese. Yes, the spacebar still works but the the suggested words appear in Spanish as I key letters in. Samsung I7500 :: Samsung I7500 - Low Middle Or High-end Android Smartphone
Jan 23, 2010The Samsung i7500 Galaxy is, except the support from Samsung itself, a great Android smartphone with a very good (the best?) price for value. It's with 11,9mm the second slimmest Android phone after Nexus One with 11,5mm (right?) and has unlike the HTC phones a flash light and build in storage of 8GB. On most sites the Galaxy is (one of) the cheapest Android phones, I wonder if it's because Samsung is cheaper or HTC/Motorola more expensive by itself?
I personally would compare the i7500 with the HTC Hero, although in my opinion the i7500 still has a much better price for value.
Is it even possible to define if and which Android phone is a low, middle, or high-end smartphone?
Sure, it also depends for what purposes you bought and use your phone, but I still wonder were the i7500 would be if 1=low and 10=high end Android phone, and if there even is a number 10? I also think that the D-Pad is a big plus and not a minus in comparison to the scroll ball from HTC.
HTC Droid Eris :: Can't Type Using Swype Or Stock Keyboard
Aug 15, 2010So yesterday my phone was working fine. No problems at all. But for some reason when I woke up this morning it started acting up. First, my phone would just freeze on me for awhile and then unfreeze like nothing happened. Second, my screen turned completely black twice for no apparent reason. And third, I can't even type using Swype or the stock keyboard anymore! It's either I can type but it won't show.. or I just can't type anything at all as if it's stuck.
