I am using T-mobile Samsung Vibrant (SGH-T959) aka Galaxy S unlocked version in India with Airtel. Somehow I am able to set the GPRS using APN settings; however I am not able to setup my google account. Similarly whenever I am aaccessing Android Market its asking for Google Account and failing as well...

I am using Samsung Vibrant (SGH-T959) unlocked piece in India and getting some issue with the device.
1. Unable to connect to Market as I'm not able to setup gmail account.
2. GPRS is functioning correctly while accessing the links from broweser but not able to open any application which is based on gmail account?
I am just wondering if anyone else is having an issue when trying to connect to Google? I have had zero luck since I purchased the phone yesterday. Signing in... Your phone is communicating with Google servers and setting up your account. This may take up to five minutes. Then two minutes into it the screen goes blank and I get this message: Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server. This could be a temporary problem or your SIM card may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues, call Customer Care.
Well, after 2 calls to customers care I am still getting the same error. I have full internet access, data capability and even setup my gmail account as the email to use. I can send and receive email/sms/mms, calls, etc... Anyone else have something for me to try before returning the phone to Sprint? (it was purchased at BB).
Everything seems to be working fine except - no Picasa. I set up the phone with my Google account and calendar, mail, contacts are all synced fine. However, no Picasa albums in Photos section. Went to Account setup, clicked on Google account, no Picasa there either. On my wife's Droid (OS v2.1 also) Picasa is listed under Google account options. Is this an Incredible bug or am I missing something?

I didn't feel like arguing since I already have one so I let him do it. Once I got home, I setup my account and sync'd all of my email and contacts, but I cannot delete the original account he setup off the phone. I also cannot sync my calendar through my account. The phone is only wanting to sync the calendar with the account he set up. Can someone offer advice on how to delete the account he setup? BTW, I have gone in and tried to delete the account, but the phone tells me applications need this account and in order to delete it, I will have to reset the phone to all defaults and all information will be lost.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm sure this first question has been answered, but I haven't been able to find it. I have a Vibrant and a Mac Book with OS 10.6.4. When I plug in my phone and mount the SD card, nothing happens. I've learned elsewhere that this seems to be a problem with this phone and Macs and I've enabled USB debugging. That works, but for me it is not a proper workaround. Has this problem been fixed? Is there some update for either my phone or my computer I can install that would make it work like it should? Also, a question about my contacts. Like most, Gmail saves every person I email in my contacts. This is fine because on Gmail.com they're separated into "my contacts" and "other contacts". On my G1 I was able to only have "my contacts" in my contacts, but on my Vibrant it just threw everyone in there. I was able to get around it by saying only show contacts with numbers, but that's not exactly what I want either. Is there a way to tell the vibrant to only show certain groups of your google contacts?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was able to successfully setup a POP account through the Setup Screen...in fact when I go back through Setup, I still see the account. The problem is I can't DO anything with it in setup (including deleting it to start over) and it doesn't show up in my Apps window with an icon! I see it on the setup screen labeled "Setup Accounts" but no matter if I tap it or hold it or swipe it or try to hit the menu key, it just sits there. There is a green button with the checkmark in it. I guess what I would think i ought to be able to do is to assign it an icon (or even get a generic one) and find the account listed on my app screen...I'm willing to reset it, but I can't even delete it to start!

As of now, my cal and contacts are syncing fine but I do not use the e-mail account that is associated with thier username. I have my other account (personal e-mail) set up sepeartely....along with a few other e-mail accounts(work and etc.). I would like to know if i can leave my cal and contacts setup on the regular droid sync account but change the e-mail account to my personal acct. so it will "push" by default with out having it in a seperate palce on the droid. View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to get a handle on how to get the calendar on my vibrant to sync with my google calendar. If I schedule something on google calendar it syncs to the phone and if I delete that event on the phone, it deletes on the google calendar. But an event created on the phone doesn't show online. Mail and contacts seem to work fine.
Help with this issue would be great. Is there a setting I'm missing? If there are any links to online resources about interoperability between the phone and things google, I'd appreciate that as well.
Does the Vibrant on T-Mobile USA come with Google navigation preinstalled or is it a separate download. My aunt bought one and I was trying to tell her about it and she said the man at the store said you had to pay $10 a month for GPS on the phone and I told her that was BS unless they specifically blocked it from being installed.
She lives in another city so I won't be able to play with the phone for a while. She looked and said she didn't think she saw the navigation icon.
How do I get Vibrant to consider new contacts I add on phone to be a GOOGLE contact, not a PHONE contact?

View 18 Replies View RelatedUp until today I've had my phone syncing with Google (Contacts and Calendar). Through a bit of searching and work, I've now finally got Kies installed and I want to have my Captivate sync only with Outlook. The problem I see at this point is that if I sync now, I'm basically going to have everything duplicated in my phone. I simply want to remove the Gmail account and all my existing contacts, calendar entries, etc.
When I go into Accounts & Sync, if I attempt to remove gmail, it states that some programs are using this and I'll have to do a factory restore to remove it. This would apparently remove all my downloaded software which I definitely don't want to do. The phone is rooted and enabled for side loading along with all of AT&T's bloatware blown out. Is there another option that I might be missing to remove this? I really want to use Kies and stop using gmail to sync.
I setup sharing between my calendar and my wife's calendar in Google Calendars. When I go on my PC and check my calendar I see all my events and all my wife's events. On my phone it was working perfect to where I saw my events and hers on my calendar, but then all of the sudden last week I can't see her events anymore. I check the permissions and sharing in google cals and they haven't been changed.
On my phone I can add an event to her cal and see it on my phone and on my PC, but if she adds events to her cal I can no longer see them on my phone. More info: when I go int settings and calendars, I see her calendar listed and it's checked, but her events still don't show up. More testing: seems as though if she adds an event on google cal on her laptop I see it on my phone, but all the events she has created on her phone are not showing up with mine even though we are sharing our cals.
I saved some phone numbers on gmail and synced them to my phone. How do I transfer them to the sim card?

View 2 Replies View RelatedOn my Galaxy S I cannot register the google account in order to use market, gmail application and even such a basic function as calendar application. It keeps informing me that it cannot connect to the internet (and really the web traffic indication is completely dead). That same happens with WiFi connection. At the same time internet is working perfectly on the phone and I registered my gmail account without problems in phone's e-mail application and it works perfectly.
