I saw that moto group doing touchscreen accuracy tests on multiple phones and heard that I can download the accuracy test and try it out myself. If this is true, could some kind person provide a link ro the download.

View 5 Replies View RelatedFirst of all I searched and couldn't find anything on this. Is anyone else having an issue with the screen not being very accurate? The on screen keyboard seems fine for me, but choosing something such as a link in the web browser is a little off on my phone.
An example would be opening www.wsmv.com (my local news), then trying to click on news on the left hand side...instead of news, it will choose what is below it (in this case weather). I thought it was my fat fingers, but others who have tried my phone experience the same issue. I was just wondering if it was just me? Any way to calibrate the screen?
Earlier my phone was playing Pandora and acting fine, but I couldn't unlock it because the touch screen wasn't responding. I had just came in from the rain and my fingertips were a little wet, so I figured it wasn't registering because of that, even though it usually handles moisture on hands just fine.
After my hands wee completely dried, the phone still wouldn't respond, and all that works is the sidekeys, send, menu, and end buttons. Nothing on the screen, nor the Home, Menu, or Back buttons work. I tried removing the battery a few times, and eventually the phone wouldn't even turn back on. After trying a hard reset, it was able to turn on and finally booted up after about 10 minutes of just a SAMSUNG logo, but the screen still won't work. It turned off on it's own after a few minutes and now won't turn on again.
Are there any solutions to this, or do I have to go to Sprint and have them fix it? I have full insurance on the phone, which I assume would cover this, but I'm working all day today and won't have time to go to Sprint even if I had to until tomorrow, so I'm hoping there's something I could try here, or from the boot menu.
So I was screwing with the self-test, and now it only boots into self-test mode! I tried taking out the battery.

Let me start off with a little background info. I got my droid november 6, 5 46am central time zone. don't ask me how but the vzw dude was letting me earlier cuz I had work. I was so happy that day leaving t mobile I did love my g1 but wen I read all about the droid I felt likt I had to leave her and move on. She did do a lot for me but time tells all and it was my time go and move on.Untill two months ago (Present time I'm talking in) I realized not everyone has the bubbly keyboard. I saw friends at my unit (I'm in the army reserves) that bought the droid a couple of months after me had flat keyboards n they were bitching bout how flat it was. I agreed with them since I was woth a g1 the keyboard was a bit flat but nothing to were its such a pain, so my friend shows me his keyboard and I looked shocked played with it was like wow and I pulled my n did a side by side side comprasion and this before I saw the bubbley keyboard thread on here. So unforunately my toucscreen starting doin its own thing like it was ghost writer and spazzing out. I had no control over it this happened monday nite and I was dreading it that I will end up replacing it. But it would not let me do nothing.I couldn't go ne where on my screen it would randomly hit different icons to the point were sum times it would call my contacts. I only had control over the physical buttons. So on Tuesday during work I fought the ghost writer to let get to setting a do a system restore. First minute of the set up was ok but right wen it finish and I was on the home screen again. I was like FUDGE I don't want to replace my rare Droid. After work I replaced it, I was real pissed I had the bubbly keyboard and (something I didn't noticed untill I got my replacement) the golden plated volume side button. I miss my precious rare droid. I was soo proud to be first non employee to have the droid in houston.

This is to compile data to send to Samsung's technical support, hopefully to aid in trouble-shooting the issue. After voting in the poll, please post indicating which firmware you are running (pre or post update, or which custom ROM or leak). This poll is not concerned with time to lock, holding a lock, or any other GPS issue than accuracy, and is just to compile a data set to test one part of a hypothesis of mine. It seems my Captivate has a "best" (lowest) accuracy of ~16.2 ft (5m), much higher than say, an N1 or G1 (which max out around 6.6 ft).
If you are unsure how to check for accuracy to get a specific number, use either GPS Test or GPS Status (free, in the market) as they both will display accuracy of the lock in real-time. GEnerally the accuracy improves with the longer the lock holds, so for maximum effectiveness, let's set the official accuracy time at 5 minutes (leave the app open for 5 minutes, then record the accuracy) or the best value you have noticed. Also, if your value is not exactly one that is up here, please select the closest number to your value...
Seems as though the accuracy of Swype has been going down for me over the last 2 weeks. I haven't messed with any of the settings. The main thing is that it will put in a word that I am clearly not spelling, even if I go so slow and make sure I'm touching the exact letters.
The biggest culprit for me is the word, "WANT". It keeps spelling it as "WASN'T". It is driving me crazy. I am making 100% sure I am not touching the apostrophe at all. And it will still spell "WASN'T". I have to manually type the word "WANT" everytime. There are other examples, but that is the biggest one.

Im wondering now if the GPS problem is really a problem with the way the individual phone is "tuned" at the factory, Its not the software thats for sure. I'm sure I have the same software as everyone else and my other 4 handsets had. I noticed that all 4 prior phones had a varying degree of GPS accuracy. This one #5 is spot on and quick to "fix" in my locations. I have a large home and tested the handset in my house last night and watched it track me through the rooms with spot on accuracy without fail. So I say why is this phone different? It has to be the way its tuned at the factory, if you notice when you take the battery door off there are a bunch of little holes around the battery compartment these are manual tuning pots for various phone functions and I'm guessing one is for the GPS. If my handset is accurate there is no other reason besides bad final tuning of the GPS system causing another handset to be inaccurate. Now if my bottom 4 keys were only as sensitive as my GPS I would be totally happy with my Epic.
View 5 Replies View RelatedHas anyone noticed the differences in using the two maps in terms of location accuracy? Specifically with GPS off. I don't expect either app to be extremely accurate in finding my location with GPS off, but what's odd is that Google Maps put's me about .25 miles WNW of my actual location while AT&T Maps put's my location .25 ENE of my actual location. You would think that the operating system determines the location and provides the app of that information, but that doesn't seem to be the case (since the two maps are showing different locations).

I wanted to upgrade my phone to either the Droid X or the Fascinate so I went to a few Verizon stores over the weekend to test the phones out.
I really liked the size and feel of the Fascinate over the bulkiness of the X, but I noticed in many of the floor models that the touchscreen wasn't very accurate when trying out the texting feature.
I realize that floor samples are abused and therefore not indicative of the actual phone. So I wanted to ask people who actually own and use the phone if anyone has noticed any issues regarding the touchscreen.
I currently own a Samsung touchscreen and it has become a bit fussy. It has been two years so I know its to be expected, but want to avoid any future problems.

View 3 Replies View RelatedDont know if anyone else has this problem, but during a call my touchscreen turns off, the proximity sensor stops the screen lighting up but even if i dont put the phone to my head the touchscreen stops working.
Buttons still work and i have to use them to use the dial pad. Really annoying when you are trying to navigate automated menus etc as half the time it doesnt work as they pickup too much noise from using the buttons on the front.
Here I am with 2 HTC Hero phones, with only one on an active account. I would love to try out the Samsung Moment, but don't have the $$ to just go out and buy one.My hero comes with all it had when new, plus I have an extra battery for it I will add to the deal. This hero has only been used for about a week, and while using it, it "lived" in my Blackberry Tour holster to give it maximum protection. There are no scratches or rub marks on it, never been dropped and I have reset it to Factory Specs via the SECURITY MENU and the ESN is clear and ready to be activated on your SPRINT account.Please email me at sy@rayzel.com if you are interested. If I were within the main application, I know I could just place the file in the assets directory and use getResources().getAssets().open(sourceFile).However, this API appears to be unavailable from the ActivityInstrumentationTestCase2 class.Is there an easy way to copy a file over from the testing PC, or should I just keep a fresh copy of a test fixture on the device and copy it over a temporary file?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a project (that compiles and runs in the emulator.) I have a test project that tests part of this project. This test project also compiles with no problems, but when I try to run (test) it in the emulator, I get a NoClassDefFoundError exception on one of the classes my test class tests (I hope that made sense!) when it starts to run in the emulator. This is coming out of the adb log. I looked in the bin directory (of the test project) for the missing class, but could not find it... Should it be there? I found no reference (apk, etc) of the project I am trying to test either in the test projects bin directory. How does the test project get the classes it needs to test against (in the classpath, I assume.) How do the tested classes get moved to the emulator? I did try running the app before testing, so I know it is installed and runs correctly. BTW, I am using netbeans with the nbandroid plugin.

Don't get me wrong, webOS is clean and has a lot of potential, but for now...lacking would be a good (albeit understated) word to describe it. I want to jump the Pre ship for the Samsung Moment, but one thing I keep reading about the Moment is bothering me - everyone says it doesn't have multi-touch. However, I recently read that multi-touch is something Android doesn't yet support. This knowledge was previously unbeknownst to me since I haven't used an Android device since the G1 first launched. Since the Moment uses a standard Android build, the OS wouldn't allow multi-touch even if the phone were capable of it. So my question is: Does anyone know whether or not the Moment is capable of multi-touch? If it's simple a shortcoming of Android, I can deal with it since I know Android 2.0 should finally support it.

Google writes about a unit test. Is this really a unit test? A Unit test will not integrate all classes and will not test in his context. So my opinion is it is not a Unit Test but an Integration Test.

The call comes in, I hear the ringtone but no matter what buttons I press, the phone won't respond. I have to wait until voicemail kicks in or the call has ended.
I called Sprint technical support and they're going to send a new (I hope it's new) phone. I hate to set up the phone for the third time. Is there a fix or should I just bite the bullet and get the new? phone? Has anyone had this problem?

I currently have a voice plan, with sprint, for my dying LG Musik and my father's Palm Centro and am seeking to replace my Musik with a Samsung Moment. I have an upgrade available on my account, however I don't want to get locked into a data plan, since I rarely spend any time away from Wifi.
Does anyone know if there is a way for me to use my upgrade to aquire the Moment without commiting to the data plan?
set up the wifes new moment her gmail still says 109 unread I went intp gmail on the pc and marked all as read then refreshed on the phone, no luck, tried going to manage apps and clearing all gmail and refreshing, still no luck short of one by one deleting all 109 any way to fix the count?
