Missing Target Class To Test In Test Application?

I have a project (that compiles and runs in the emulator.) I have a test project that tests part of this project. This test project also compiles with no problems, but when I try to run (test) it in the emulator, I get a NoClassDefFoundError exception on one of the classes my test class tests (I hope that made sense!) when it starts to run in the emulator. This is coming out of the adb log. I looked in the bin directory (of the test project) for the missing class, but could not find it... Should it be there? I found no reference (apk, etc) of the project I am trying to test either in the test projects bin directory. How does the test project get the classes it needs to test against (in the classpath, I assume.) How do the tested classes get moved to the emulator? I did try running the app before testing, so I know it is installed and runs correctly. BTW, I am using netbeans with the nbandroid plugin.

I'm writing an Android JUnit test and want to copy/reset a test fixture file (it's an SQLite database file.) If I were within the main application, I know I could just place the file in the assets directory and use getResources().getAssets().open(sourceFile).However, this API appears to be unavailable from the ActivityInstrumentationTestCase2 class.Is there an easy way to copy a file over from the testing PC, or should I just keep a fresh copy of a test fixture on the device and copy it over a temporary file?

I am trying to unit test a class that does SAX parsing and creates an object.This class takes a string as a parameter representing the URL of a document on the internet, parses it and then creates an object based on the contents.I don't want to have the unit tests actually access the network, so I'd like to have a few test xml files to parse. However I can't figure out how to access them from my AndroidTestCases. I don't want to include the test files with the actual application, I want them in the test project (it's a separate project, as is the norm for Android tests from what I could gather - due to the need to have a custom AndroidManifest.xml, for one).One way would be to put the XML files in the test project's assets directory, I can read them using getContext() .getAssets().open(filename) into an InputStream in the test case, but my class expects a URL string. I'd rather not have to provide an InputStream to this class instead of the current URL string. I can test just the parsing by making two methods, one that takes a string and one an Inputstream, and test the second, but how can I then test the one that just takes a string?How should I design my class and or tests to circumvent this problem?

I have never used JUnit before, and now I'm trying to set it up on an Android project.My project under test is fairly complex, including some JNI, but my test project, at the moment, is completely trivial. Google writes about a unit test. Is this really a unit test? A Unit test will not integrate all classes and will not test in his context. So my opinion is it is not a Unit Test but an Integration Test.

The problem is, that I wanted to write a JUnit-Test for some of my classes - but this stupid Anroid SDK does always lauch this absolutely lame AVD!
So I came up with the idea to move all my non-Android related classes out of the actual Android project into standard Java project. There I can easily test my classes and by adding this standard Java project to the BuildPath of the Android project, I can easily access and use my classes: no error is shown in the IDE - everything is fine.
But if I launch my full application in the AVD, it exits with following exception: NoClassDefFoundError!
I found out, how to run a normal test from an Android project. But why is it not possible to reference to a non-Android project? Regarding code reuse, this is really big disadvantage!

Is there any sort of automated test similar to this (The W3C Markup Validation Service) that can perhaps mark how the usability a mobile application is or whether it is secure etc.
Or is the best way to just give my prototype to testers and receive feedback.

I created application with name Test, and has a class that extends broadcastreceiver that listen for PACKAGE_RESTARTED. I use Advanced Task Killer, and killed the Test application. But when I kill another application, for example gmail, the Test's broadcastreceiver got the intent (I logged it). Does it means that broadcastreceiver will never died?

When we build and install the test application from eclipse, it is able to launch the test application and show the running of tests. However, we wish to launch the test application from the phone directly. Is this possible. As test application does not have any activity it does not have main icon displayed. I was trying to send Monkey commands in one of my test applications. But When I install it on the emulator, the packageManager refuses to grant permission "SET_ACTIVITY_WATCHER" which is required to run Monkey.

I would like to make a single Android app for multiple Android versions (possibly every one of them)
My problem is that I want to check what is the version of Android the app is currently running on, and dynamically load a class which is version dependent. This part should be ok.
I just wonder how I can achieve that without compilation errors in my Eclipse project. I mean, the project is configured for a particular target (1.5, 2.1 ...), so if a class in my project is not compatible wich the selected target, it will result in errors.
Is there a way to export this classes even if they are not fit for the platform (I thought about a separated lib, but then again : how to compile theses classes into a lib without compilation pbs?) ? This should be ok since they won't be loaded until I ask them to after having checked Android version.

I am trying to implement serialization for an email application on the android (stroring username, password, server etc.), but in order to test it I have to close the application in the emulator and then re-open it to ensure that it looks and finds the file with the serialized objects. The problem is that when I close the application on the emulator uninstalls the application. I close the application with the finish() function. Any inklings as to why this happens? And it wasn't doing it until further along in my development stage.
