I found a way to find the actual battery charge while messing around on the phone. I turned off the phone and then pressed the "send + center + end" combination to get into the diagnostics console. From there you can scroll down to the battery info and in there you can see how much charge is really left. For some reason the OS can't read from this and reports incorrect battery life.

I bought an extended battery on ebay and I want to test how much mah it actually has. Is there an app that tests battery capacity specifically the mah? It wouldn't be that hard for an app to test. Just monitor how much gets used and how much gets put back into the battery. If there isn't an app is there another way I can test the capacity of this battery? I have a lipo battery charger if that could work.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI don't have any battery issues with my EVO when in idle (<1% drain per hour), and there have been many times when I've charged my phone every other day. However, are there any tricks to increasing battery life when you are actually using the phone such as when web browsing? When I use my phone, it seems to use up battery really quickly...i.e. up to 30%/hour when browsing (tried both dolphin and stock). Similar drains on 3G or wifi. Running Fresh, Netarchy 4.1.9. Used to run Netarchy 4.1.8 with SetCPU profiles and got slightly better battery life. I was told not to use SetCPU with 4.1.9 because of HAVS. Is there something else I can do that is compatible?

View 10 Replies View RelatedNow that the Hero has been out there for more than a few days, how about a daily rundown of battery life. Day 1: Fully charged to 100% at 10PM. Left on overnight and the next morning was at 78%. Used moderately just trying to figure stuff out and adding a few apps and had 23% by 3:30PM. Day 2 : Fully charged to 100% at 9PM. Turned off. Woke up to 100% at 4:45AM. Used sparingly (3-4 quick 2 min calls, a couple texts, and jumped on web 1-2 times for less than 2 mins ea) and by 4PM had 28%.
Day 3: Charged to 100% at 8PM. Turned off at 10PM with 99% showing. Woke up at 4:45AM with 99% and made a couple quick calls, sent 2 texts before 11AM and was at 78%. Then added 40 contacts to phone and by 2PM it dropped to 38%. By 4:30PM it was on life support at 11%. Day 4: Charged to 100% at 10PM and left on overnight. Started day at 7:45AM with 89%. Used moderately for similar tasks above and now at 3:15PM its at 65%. So there you go. I'm not really happy with the battery life, but this is my first true "smartphone" so it might just be the norm. Seems a bit much to be struggling to keep above 30-40% battery life after only being on for 12 hours.
I've had my EVO for about a week now and i've been trying to figure out the most efficient way to get a good days worth of battery. Nothing I have done has worked so far, maybe I am missing something. I am only getting about an hour and 45 minutes of actual use out of the phone and its on standby for about 8 hours and needs to be charged. Is this normal? I dont think it is...I installed ATK to see if it would help kill apps that I dont need running, but it didnt seem to change much even on aggressive kill setting. I did have it set to kill whenever the screen turned off, but i just changed it to every half hour. would i benefit from rooting to get rid of Sense UI?

I charged my battery for 16 hours and it died within 30min. and not just the low battery warning the phone shut off. Ive tried the car charger pluggin it into my computer and the wall charger and the longest it has lasted is 1 hour. havnt really downloaded anything other than a task killer to see if that helped. Bad battery?

In an attempt to get the battery conditioned, I ran the phone all the way down yesterday, powered it off, and charged it overnight.
One thing I noticed is that when the phone got down under 15%, there were a handful of times that the interface would freeze briefly for a few seconds, and then the phone would reboot itself.
Eventually, I ran it down the the point where, after it rebooted, it would tell me that the battery was too low and that it was shutting off.
I would expect that if the phone were shutting down because of a low battery, it would prompt me somehow to let me know, instead of just rebooting.
Has anyone else noticed this same behavior? I've only had the phone for a few days, but so far, it's only done the reboot thing when the battery was under 15%.
OK...so I charged my Moment via the wall charger all night. Well, when I awoke this morning, it read that the charge was full of course, but as soon as I took it off it went down to 80%. I put it back on the charger and it went to 90%. I'm not sure what is going on here. Has anyone else had problems like this or know of a fix?

I could easily go a day and a half with moderate use (some web surfing, all my apps and widgets going, etc.). Last week, my battery was gone one day in about 7.5 hours. I thought it was from installing Screebl Lite. I disabled Screebl, same problem. So I uninstalled Screebl, same problem. I have Spare Parts installed, but it's not the most intuitive thing in the world. I try looking at the battery usage stats, but it says "Android System" is the biggest battery user. And I don't know what is good, what is bad, what is normal.
Example: Today, I had my phone at 100% charge. Took it off the charger around 10 AM. Around 11:00, I paired up the new Bluetooth headset I got for Christmas. I made a call. Listened to a couple of songs. Watched a couple of minutes of video. I browsed the Market for a few, disabled bluetooth and went about my day. By about 6:00, I was at 5%.
