Motorola Droid :: Will Intentionally Brick My Phone To Get Free Droid 2?

ok so i am rooted with FRG22 froyo build on my droid1 and i just recieved the OTA update (it didnt see the OTA build number), so i am wondering, if i installed this OTA will it brick my phone? i actually want this update to brick my phone because i just got done reading this story that says if you managed to brick your phone in the process of updating to froyo, they will replace your droid 1 with a droid 2!! so someone please tell me, will this brick my phone? also i already had my droid replaced once before i few months ago when i dropped it, will verizon still give me my Droid 2 replacement?link to this article i read : Droid Broken? I just can't help but wonder if the Droid X is going to be released with 2.1 deliberately. I mean, of course its deliberate but I believe it can be considered a Vanilla class device, so it kinda makes sense. Look at it like just another way to beat out the iPhone 4, since there will undoubtedly be a root for the X within days. The fact that it has 2.1 upon shipping makes it that much easier I would think. I know it has some degree of Moto's custom tweaks but there should be much demand to root this phone I would think. Then again maybe for most people the addition of wifi tethering the legit way on 2.2 would deter people especially since its clocked at 1ghz.

I've been searching for about two hours, and not found the answer I'm looking for(Probably missed it in my frustration).Today my Droid decided to reboot itself..and went directly to the Bootloader.I've tried everything..Factory reset(Which seems to fail)..redoing the 2.0.1 update(Which says there is an error in the .zip every time)..formatting the SD card.Best I get is once in a while it will boot up like a spanking new Droid-Exexpt the wireless radio does not function-no way to enable the network..but wifi works. To get it to fire upo I have to Format the SD card everytime.
I know there are recovery images/2.1 images out there.. Just how to flash them into the phone? The bootloader says ready to program..Again, I most likely missed the how-to, and a lot of the links to the files needed are broken anyhow.

I know this belongs in the "How To" section, I do, and I'm all for trying to keep things organized around here, but there's no denying that a lot more people will see (and therefore respond to) it here.I have 23MB of memory left on my phone. I can free up memory on my SD card easy enough just by pitching stuff like downloaded installs, vids, pics & music, but what can I pitch to free up PHONE memory?

Found a few threads about people having problems transferring their phonebook to their hands free kit in their automobile. Had the same problem myself - was able to connect and pair with the car kit. I was able to make and receive calls, but didn't have the phonebook.
Then yesterday, while setting in the car, I was going to re-pair the connection between the phone and car I noticed that in the Notification Bar that the car was asking permission to receive the phonebook from the phone. Opened the Notification and granted permission and clicked on always grant access (or something similar). Phonebook was then transfered. Haven't had a problem with it since...

Hope all of you are enjoying their X's as much as I am. Well anyways, I purchased a three pack of screen protectors from Go Wireless, a authorized Verizon retailer and after putting one on I wanted a different style. These only cover the part of the screen that lights up, not the rest of the glass if that makes sense. These do not cover the top where it says Motorola or the bottom where it says Verizon. So long story short, if you want em, hit me up and I will mail them to you free of charge.

So here's the thing, my battery life before the update was incredible (20 + hours.) I received the update, and now by battery barely lasts 11 hours with little to no use at all. What's going on? Will Verizon give me a free new battery if I argue in the case of a defect?

I tried to install a Bootanimation with bootanimation.zip When i turned on the phone, it keeps loading the Sprint 4G splash screen...So i just went to the Recovery screen and re-flashed the Damagecontrol 3.2.3, and it still just stays at the Sprint 4g slash page. I can get into the recovery screen which has ROM Manager. Did I screw something up thats too deep internally?

Simply Lockscreen - Android app on AppBrain.I really like this new FREE screen locker replacement. There is no lag when unlocking anymore! You can also set your phone to vibrate directly from the lock screen now. Still could use some polish (larger clock?) but it hasn't been out that long. Hope the developer keeps working on it. Remember to disable the default screen locker or you'll have to unlock 2 every time. What do you guys think?

I am going to be spending a little time in Canada for work. I know that if I turn my phone on it will connect to the network and start downloading email, texts, etc. Before I leave for canada I want to set up my phone so that when I turn it on up there, it won't try to get my e-mails. I also want to find away to stay in contact with my wife through the wifi. I do have google voice, so is there a way to use that to talk to her? The hotel does have wifi so I need to be able to turn off 1x, 3g, 2g, or whatever the phone uses to connect to the network but leave the wifi on. I would love some suggestions on how to keep in touch with my wife without getting charged for it. When I am in the hotel I will be using skype to talk to her through my laptop, but I wont be in the hotel during the day.

I seem to remember the first time I opened the hotspot app on my phone it said it costs 20 dollars a month and then closed. I heard the update refreshed it somehow so I was just glancing around and decided to take a look. well after going through some settings it started, I immediately closed the app afraid I had charged 20 dollars but I am wandering if it still costs if they got rid of the notification that it costs, I thought you had to subscribe to it before you ran it so does that mean it's free now?
