So for some reason my google maps program shows an incorrect gps position for my current location. It has me like 6 streets over . Anybody have any idea as to why this is occurring and how to go about fixing it?

I can't figure out how to tag locations in google maps, or if there's an app I can get that will. IE: when driving across the state I found some places where I wanted to stop on the return trip to take some pictures, so I wanted to mark the lat/long in gps so I could find it later.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAnyone else using the Layar app and notice that the phone defaults to another location when it cannot see GPS? If I'm inside, my phone thinks it's located in Cork, England, not where I am in the middle of the US. Same issue when I use Google maps. I took it to a Sprint store initially when it just wasn't seeing the GPS and they "fixed" it but didn't know how. I'm pretty sure they just reset the phone and it found the GPS inside the store.

incoming text messages are all showing up sent 5-10 minutes BEFORE the time it was actually sent so it totally ruins convos on my moment.. Ive tried setting the time and using 'automatic' network time.. Someone please tell me how to fix this its driving me insane as I always have to scroll back up and it ruins conversation continuity.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm using the navigation feature in my galaxy s the screen will turn itself off after some time. The time it takes for the back light to turn off vary each time. The time out setting goes from like 10 seconds to 30 mins, there us no option for never. Is there a way to keep it on? Its very frustrating on long journeys when the screen keeps going off.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi took the captivate on the road and used it as navigation. it worked great for the first 3 hours of the trip, reception or not. i was amazed until i received a notice that my phone internal app memory is low and i need to uninstall my apps. theres no way my memory should be full because i've checked it every few days and i've had 1.6 gb free. all of a sudden i've got 126mb. i'm guessing that Google maps had downloaded the maps in advanced and had just filled up the internal memory. unfortunately i have no clue how to clear the maps. until i can figure this out i cant receive emails, or texts or any messages because the memory is full. does someone know how to clear the old maps from the navigation app? i'm on the road so i havent been able to look at it extensively. i will research it more when i get a chance and post anything i find.

I don't know if I'll root, but I do really want to use those apps and for the moment, would just keep Bing at first. I've read posts on how to de-Bing and am wondering if it truly works or if it just hides Bing. If I get a SF, I want to be sure I can access all the Google apps easily with 3 or less clicks. This will be my first Android, so all this stuff is new to me. Bing is what really seems to be dragging the SF down in my book as I think Android should be all about Google. So if I fire up Google Maps and just want to leave it on while I drive home, but I'm not trying to do any kind of navigation...though I might open the traffic layer, should my route be coming from the bottom of the screen going upwards or should it be going from the right to the left?
I noticed driving home the other night it was tracking me going right to left. It seemed odd.
Google maps application is crashing constantly after the 4.4.0 update on my Captivate.At first, I thought it was the lag fix that caused corruption so I re-flashed the stock ROM and it still crashes.The only fix so far is to downgrade to 4.0.0.Is anyone else having similar problems?
View 26 Replies View RelatedI just got my Behold 2 a couple of days ago and love it. Like ya'll, I hope they update droid to 2.0 or greater. The problem that I am having is with the GPS. I have turned it on in the settings, but it does not seem to work. I cannot locate my position while using google maps. I downloaded a weather app and it could not locate my position either. The icon lights up showing that the phone is searching but it does not find anything. I am thinking that I should trade this one in for another while I can. Anyone else have this problem? (I have been outside during clear weather during the searches.)

View 3 Replies View RelatedI seem to have noticed when I start the day. Use Astro File Manager's Prcoess Viewer to shutdown every task on my phone to conserve battery. All that is usually left running is Dialer, Android system, and android keyboard. I have used APN droid to shut off the internet and I use the power widget to turn off syncs and GPS. Even so at the end of the day, I check the process manager to see that maps and my uploads are running even though I have not used the phone. I was just wondering if there is a reason for this and if so does it affect battery life?
View 1 Replies View RelatedPer the title, there are new versions of Maps and Street View in the market. The Maps update is just to add walking directions I think and the street view was a more polished update. Street view doesn't work after install, at least on my Epic. I open maps, pick a road and long-click on it. A balloon pops up saying "Loading address" for about 30 seconds then give me a pop-up error that says "Data Connection Lost, Retrying" But, data is working just fine on the phone everywhere else. Try rebooting the phone after install, it helped. Still some errors but much better than before. It is awesome when it works. Try compass mode.

So before I start, let me say that I have tried this on my wife's Vibrant and my own captivate I get a lock immediately in google maps.

So I thought hey... there are lots of wifi networks around where I live I wonder if it would help if I turn my wifi on.
I get an almost instant lock accurate to 50 meters (good enough for navigation). I have tried it over and over and when I turn off wifi, I get an accuracy of 1700 meters. Turn it back on and get accuracy to 50 meters.
It works indoors and out.
I just noticed that for this to work YOU MUST HAVE "USE WIRELESS NETWORKS" CHECKED under location and security then turn on Wifi (you don't have to connect to any networks). My guess is it narrows down your location based on Cell tower triangulation, then uses wifi to narrow it down.
