Google maps application is crashing constantly after the 4.4.0 update on my Captivate.At first, I thought it was the lag fix that caused corruption so I re-flashed the stock ROM and it still crashes.The only fix so far is to downgrade to 4.0.0.Is anyone else having similar problems?

I am so upset because AT&T forced 4.3 update on my phone. For a month constantly ignored then yesterday message displayed could no longer be postponed.Now the blue Navigation icon is missing & even when I do uninstall google maps update doesn't revert to 6.0. Is that because 4.3 won't allow it to and if so is there a work around. My phone was already set up to allow manual updates only which is how I kept blue navigation for so long & never updated maps. but when 4.3 was forced it looks as it removed blue navigation app.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi took the captivate on the road and used it as navigation. it worked great for the first 3 hours of the trip, reception or not. i was amazed until i received a notice that my phone internal app memory is low and i need to uninstall my apps. theres no way my memory should be full because i've checked it every few days and i've had 1.6 gb free. all of a sudden i've got 126mb. i'm guessing that Google maps had downloaded the maps in advanced and had just filled up the internal memory. unfortunately i have no clue how to clear the maps. until i can figure this out i cant receive emails, or texts or any messages because the memory is full. does someone know how to clear the old maps from the navigation app? i'm on the road so i havent been able to look at it extensively. i will research it more when i get a chance and post anything i find.

So I thought hey... there are lots of wifi networks around where I live I wonder if it would help if I turn my wifi on.
I get an almost instant lock accurate to 50 meters (good enough for navigation). I have tried it over and over and when I turn off wifi, I get an accuracy of 1700 meters. Turn it back on and get accuracy to 50 meters.
It works indoors and out.
I just noticed that for this to work YOU MUST HAVE "USE WIRELESS NETWORKS" CHECKED under location and security then turn on Wifi (you don't have to connect to any networks). My guess is it narrows down your location based on Cell tower triangulation, then uses wifi to narrow it down.

I then viewed the short intro and then I tried it out It took a while and I had to ask for help on this forum but finally I got it to sort of working. I decided to send a test text to my wife so I tapped on the app and once it loaded I said "send text to xxxxxxxxx" (my wife's name) "This is a test" After it read my voice I got a screen that looked like this to: xxxxxxxxxxxx (my wife's name as listed on my contact list)
message:This is a test I then tapped on the send button and then Sorry The application Voice Search(process.com.google.android.voicesearch) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
I had tried this over and over again and I always get the same message.
I am getting a forced close error everytime I try to remove the HTC Messaging widget from one of my screens. I tap and hold down on the widget to select it so I can move it to the "remove" button at the bottom of the screen. Well when I tap and hold I get a forced error close message. Any ideas what I need to do to correct this issue. I'm using the original messaging app, and only have 3 other non related apps downloaded.

Have found it so far when I am going into setting to uninstall an app and in Sound Recorder.
I reset to factory settings and it was fine....reinstalled all my apps.
I think one of the apps is causing the issue but don't know which one.
Anyway I can find out - is there a trouble shooting app or something I can run in hidden commands?
I have the capitvate At&t and have rooted and sideloaded from this site and have downloaded apps. I use Launcher Pro and have no problems with it. Recently I had tried to open Google Calendar and the Daily Briefing app, (I don't know if there is more) and it comes up with "Sorry the process com.android.calendar has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. blah blah blah. Use #9900# to copy out log. Neither one ever opens now. I have not done a hard reset, but have turned off pulled the battery. Any ideas short of starting all over. I mean its not crucial as I use DejaOffice, but I finally got my outlook to sync to the phone and all and don't really want to have to go through all the headach. In addition I have some paid apps and am afraid it will be a pain to get them back. I probably did too much tweaking to the phone I assume. Any help or advice other than "Sucks to be you" would be great.

View 10 Replies View RelatedHey everyone, I'm sort of new to this but I figured I'd give it a shot to see if anyone might have an answer.
This happens fairly frequently actually, but I'll be in an app (any app - it's not really particular) and sometimes it'll just randomly shut me out of it and return to the home screen. As it does this, the home button blinks and vibrates incessantly until I hold down on it - at which point it brings up a sort of mini-list of six apps (the last six apps I've opened, I suppose). Once I clear out of that list, then the phone resumes working normally.
I initially thought it had something to do with the memory and running too many apps at once, so I downloaded Advance Task Killer and run that occasionally...only to find the same problem occurring, sometimes RIGHT after I kill all the apps.
Has anyone else had this happen? Can anyone help me out?
I wanna make it so that I cant be located when my mom uses family maps. How do I go about doing this? All of my gps/locator options are switched off, but she can still track me. I don't want this. I'm 18, she needs cut this crap out.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHas anyone noticed the differences in using the two maps in terms of location accuracy? Specifically with GPS off. I don't expect either app to be extremely accurate in finding my location with GPS off, but what's odd is that Google Maps put's me about .25 miles WNW of my actual location while AT&T Maps put's my location .25 ENE of my actual location. You would think that the operating system determines the location and provides the app of that information, but that doesn't seem to be the case (since the two maps are showing different locations).
View 5 Replies View Relatedi have a samsung galaxy gio GT-S5660M Android version 2.3.4 build number GINGERBREAD.MUGKG3 (Stock rom gingerbread ) but it is rooted. ok so i was trying to free up some space on my internal memory and i was using titanium back up and i converted google play to a user app (it took too long so i assumed it didn't work) but i backup the google play. i was able to move it to sd card thought ,but then i still don't have enought free memory to receive text msg (20mb needed) so i did a factory reset which freed up everything. and i was still rooted ( i fixed it) but now google play won't open it gives me this message (process com,android,vending) so i downloaded a new com.android.vending but still won't work i tried the clear data it will open and i can search but whenever i try to download it will force close.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm using the navigation feature in my galaxy s the screen will turn itself off after some time. The time it takes for the back light to turn off vary each time. The time out setting goes from like 10 seconds to 30 mins, there us no option for never. Is there a way to keep it on? Its very frustrating on long journeys when the screen keeps going off.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAnyone else using the Layar app and notice that the phone defaults to another location when it cannot see GPS? If I'm inside, my phone thinks it's located in Cork, England, not where I am in the middle of the US. Same issue when I use Google maps. I took it to a Sprint store initially when it just wasn't seeing the GPS and they "fixed" it but didn't know how. I'm pretty sure they just reset the phone and it found the GPS inside the store.
