When I attempt to attach something to an email (using Gmail) I only get the option to attach photos. Can anyone else attach video or is it just me? However, when texting I get the option to attach video or photo.

All of that works, but when I try to actually send the email a couple 'weird' things happen.So if I launch using the Gmail menu context It shows the attachment, lets me type who the email is to, and edit the body & subject. No big deal. I hit send, and it sends. The only thing is the attachment does NOT get sent.I figured, why not try it w/ the Email menu context (for my backup email account on my phone). It shows the attachment, but no text at all in the body or subject. When I send it, the attachment sends correctly. That would lead me to believe something is quite wrong. Do I need a new permission in the Manifest launch an intent to send email w/ attachment? What am I doing wrong?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a programmatically generated image that I want to send as an attachment via the ACTION_SEND and EXTRA_STREAM method. But how do i do this? My first attempt (writing to my context.getCacheDir() based file path) appeared to work in the Gmail preview (no image preview, but attached file name and icon was visible), but the attachment never arrived on the recipient side. I guess this has something to do with permissions on the generated file, but how to avoid this? Do I need to set more permissive settings on these generated files (so that the Gmail activity can access)? Is that even possible for the app's cache folder?
Is there another file location that would be more suitable to write my files to? I considered the downloads folder, but think it would be an awkward location for something that only needs to exist until it has been emailed. I have even tried encoding my image purely in a data:image/png;base64,ABCD... style URI. This, too, showed up in Gmail preview (attachment icon, but no file name), but did not result in a recipient-side attachment. Has anyone been able to attach a one-shot generated image to an email intent by any means? What options may I have overlooked?

I've tried several different media players. I really hope this is just a random bug on my specifiv phone because I watch a lot of tv on it and I really don't have extra time to convert file types everyday.
Pretty much ever since I flashed over to 2.1 I don't receive any of my emails anymore. The only ones I do get are my work ones and that's connected directly to the Exchange server. I have a total of 4 emails being sent to my phone, My gmail, Hotmail, and 2 from my website exile-designs.com. I have the settings to check every 15 minutes but I never get any. Anyone have any idea's on this? I know the settings are right for sure on my Hotmail because I can pull that one up and see my old email's sitting in my inbox. The other 3 accounts should all be fine as well.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just got the Moment the other day, and one of the first things I did was to try and set-up my 2 hotmail accounts. After I put in my address and password it said "checking incoming server settings", after a few seconds it then told me "setup could not finish" and that it was "unable to open connection to server". I have no idea why this is, and I've been searching the internet since, but I am unable to find a solution. Does anyone know why this is and how to fix it. I'm using the basic Email app that came with it, but I've heard things about downloading a different Email app. I also have a task killer installed but I have set-up it to ignore the Email app.

We tried everything over the phone to try to get around the issue without having to reflash. Any other ideas? I tried pulling the battery for 2 minutes, changing the MSID number.The MSID number won't stay.It goes back to 0000000. Any other ideas or is reflashing the way to go?

I've learned through the forums that turning off Background Data on the Momemt saves battery life. I've done that. I've also left the Auto Sync button checked (Gmail, Calendar, Contacts). However, my email never comes unless I physically go into Gmail and press refresh. I don't get it. While I love the many features of this phone, I am really missing my Blackeberry . Any suggestions, or is this just the way it is?

I would like to have the option to decide whether or not I want to see the whole message. On my old phone it was in the settings, but I can't seem to find anything on this one.
