Took a 12 second video today, and it's too big to send via text. noob, so how else can i share the video? tried using my gmail, but it puts it in a strange format that my computer won't recognize.

Just activated my Samsung Moment on Sprint last night and I personally love the phone and the interface. However I have some issues that I would like help with or an alternative. I am coming from the HTC Mogul with WM6.5 loaded on it. I have had Windows Mobile phones for the past 6 years or so and gotten so used to them.
1. Contacts list - I was wondering if there is another good contact program or am I stuck with what is loaded on my phone. The only real problem I have with the contacts list is how people and businesses are listed. On my windows mobile phone I could enter both a person's name and the business and I could choose how I wanted the contact to appear in the list. Like I could have the company listed (ie. Widgets Inc.) or have the person and company listed and vice versa (ie. Widgets Inc. (John Smith))
2. Roaming ONLY choice - on my windows mobile phone I could edit the registry to allow me to pick either Sprint only, Automatic, or Roaming Only. This is very useful for me because in my shop with the metal roof I can't send or receive calls reliably.
3. Tethering - I used my WM phone along with my netbook and would bridge the wired connection to use my credit card terminal to process payments. I see there is no internat sharing app on the Moment. Any suggestions?
I really like the phone, but if I can't find solutions to these problems I will have to bit the bullet and get the HTC Touch Pro2. Part of me doesn't want to do this but I need to have service at my shop to answer business calls and I need to process credit card payments
On Android 2.1 (Epic), possible to add an FTP location to possible places you can share your pictures? Something that come up along with picasa or whatever.

I've tried several different media players. I really hope this is just a random bug on my specifiv phone because I watch a lot of tv on it and I really don't have extra time to convert file types everyday.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy phone has the rooted 2.1 dd10 version or whichever and I am not receiving picture/video messages. I called Sprint and they said I was "in the red." We tried everything over the phone to try to get around the issue without having to reflash. Any other ideas? I tried pulling the battery for 2 minutes, changing the MSID number.The MSID number won't stay.It goes back to 0000000. Any other ideas or is reflashing the way to go?

Now this problem. the phone will not stay asleep after timeout or end button . I have to restart the phone when it does this to make it work normal for a a short while... then usually every day... just a few hours after a restart, it does it again.
So its very consistent, very annoying. Does it with apps or no apps, nothing running or everything running, with service, or with out service.... doesn't matter.
As you can see in the vid, extremely occasionally "shaking" the phone will make it stop. but as im typing this now, its back on again. most of the time shaking doesn't do anything. Next time i may try chunking it at my fireplace
So despite the GPS glitches I experienced with my first Moment, this second unit is really impressing me. Everyday I grow to like it even more and I can't believe I almost traded it for a Hero!
I love the solid build and the ability to customize the phone.
I love the physical keyboard but also having the option of a virtual keyboard.
I love the thousands of available apps.
I love having a video recorder and camera in one.
I love the AMOLED screen.
Does anyone know how to get mkv video playback on the moment without having to convert the file of course...

Here's a link to a video that doesn't play on my Moment, but will play inside Quicktime on my PC. Is there a VLC like player for android to play mp4, wmp and other assorted video files?
View 3 Replies View Relatedthe gmail app on the DINC does not support video and pic sharing? m I missing something here. When you take a vid and go to share, gmail comes up as one of your options. If you proceed down this route, you don't get an error, but the vid never gets attached and delivered. The only way to do this is through the HTC Mail app. On this same note, another gripe I have is why Android lists the sharing options if you can't actually use them to share. You can't share a video over Handcent/Messaging Apps...so why show them as options for sharing? You can't upload to facebook directly, so why list them as an option. Seems like a glaring issue that will confuse newbies (my wife) and may ultimately affect their adoption of the platform. I'm all for the customization and openness of Android, but they need to work out these little quirks if they want to capture any respectable market share.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo, I'm having a small issue trying to share videos on Youtube. Essentially, I'm forced to log in every single time I want to upload a video. Here's how it happens: I take a video with the stock camera app. Go to the gallery, and click share. Choose Youtube. It asks me to login. I do, and it uploads fine over wifi. Take another video, same steps, and I'm asked to login again. The problem is, I have a long username, so this is really annoying. I'd think it would cache my username for at least as long as the youtube app is still open in the background, or gallery, or something. I've tried going into the youtube app directly, logging in, and then doing all this. No matter what I do, I have to login to youtube every single time. There are other Droid threads about login errors to youtube via the app, but I'm not experiencing that - I'm able to login fine, I'm just annoyed I have to do it every single time I want to use youtube, be it via the app or sharing through gallery. I'm learning to Cut All when I login the first time, then pasting each subsequent time, so at least I'm only retyping my password each time. Which makes it not a huge deal, but still an annoyance Especially since I tend to upload in batches. Anyone else experiencing this? Is this a security thing or did they just forget the "remember me" checkbox?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have my Google account also setup on my wife's phone so we can share purchased apps. However, everything else is shared too. For example, even though I have sync for everything on my account turned off, my calendar still showed up on my wife's phone until I disabled it in the calendar app. Also, I can't remove my Google Talk account from her phone so my messages show up on her phone.
This is on a pair of stock Samsung Galaxy S3 phones.
Here I am with 2 HTC Hero phones, with only one on an active account. I would love to try out the Samsung Moment, but don't have the $$ to just go out and buy one.My hero comes with all it had when new, plus I have an extra battery for it I will add to the deal. This hero has only been used for about a week, and while using it, it "lived" in my Blackberry Tour holster to give it maximum protection. There are no scratches or rub marks on it, never been dropped and I have reset it to Factory Specs via the SECURITY MENU and the ESN is clear and ready to be activated on your SPRINT account.Please email me at sy@rayzel.com if you are interested. I've been using the Wireless AP mode which works really well, but I think the bluetooth mode will use less power.I've been able to pair the phone with my macbook, but I'm not sure what settings it needs on both sides. On the phone I'm assuming just enabling bluetooth is enough for it to be a modem, but on the macbook I need to fill out:username, password, apn and cid. I'm not sure where to find this info.Please god tell me I don't have to call Bell to get it.

I enabled Internet Sharing on my Mac, selected Airport under ports & provided a WEP password. On my Galaxy S, I select my macbook on the list of WiFi n/w, provide the password, but it never gets connected & there is no error msg either. Has anyone else tried this? Any ideas on why this is happening? BTW, I'm able to connect my Galaxy S to my wireless router at home.

Don't get me wrong, webOS is clean and has a lot of potential, but for now...lacking would be a good (albeit understated) word to describe it. I want to jump the Pre ship for the Samsung Moment, but one thing I keep reading about the Moment is bothering me - everyone says it doesn't have multi-touch. However, I recently read that multi-touch is something Android doesn't yet support. This knowledge was previously unbeknownst to me since I haven't used an Android device since the G1 first launched. Since the Moment uses a standard Android build, the OS wouldn't allow multi-touch even if the phone were capable of it. So my question is: Does anyone know whether or not the Moment is capable of multi-touch? If it's simple a shortcoming of Android, I can deal with it since I know Android 2.0 should finally support it.
