Has anyone else noticed that the video quality for the Moment dumbed down after the Android 2.1 update? I really loved taking pictures and videos with my phone, but now the video looks so choppy as opposed to before.

It is time for a upgrade and I am thinking about going with the Samsung Moment to replace my Blackberry.
I do have a couple of questions for you Moment owners.
1) Can this phone by used as a business oriented phone (I am coming from the no non-sense blackberry)? I read this is a heck of a phone but I also read it is more a fun phone then a business phone. What is your thoughts as I am not just looking for a toy, but I am also looking for a phone that will be great for business use.
2) I heard that the Android 2.1 will be available for the Samsung Moment around Feb 22nd. My questions is, if an "update" is available for the Moment the 22nd of Feb, then when will the phone come out with the Android 2.1 pre-installed into the phone from brand new? I rather get the phone with the latest Android 2.1 already pre-installed when I purchase it.
3) What is the deal with outlook? I read somewhere that it is not really compatible with this phone as I will be using outlooks calander and would like it to show up on my phone as well.
4) What did get me to go the no non-sense blackberry route is that I used to have the Palm Treo's and with all the gadgets on those phones back in the day, there was sooooooo many software glitches that I just couldnt take it anymore. I am looking for a reliable phone that will not give me issues. Does this phone have any issues of freezing, not working correctly, or any software glitches with all this technology built in? I know the Samsung Moment had a battery issue that was supposedly resolved with the CL14 software upgrade. Any other issues that should be of concern?
5) I read everywhere about the fantastic voice quality of this phone (which is important as a business phone). But, how is the signal strength compared to other Sprint phones? I have not read much on that.
6) Also, I know the Blackberry there is a premium you have to pay above the rate you pay for your Sprint service, just to use the blackberry. What is the monthly charge that is over and above the regular sprint bill to just own the Moment? I need the internet, unlimited text, and the sprint navigation and I am on a family plan.
I downloaded the 2.1 update from sprint and I can longer watch AVI videos. Please tell me my phone is bugged! I've re-transferred videos I previously watched on CL14 but they all say "sorry this video can't be played."
I've tried several different media players. I really hope this is just a random bug on my specifiv phone because I watch a lot of tv on it and I really don't have extra time to convert file types everyday.
Can someone tell me all the changes the moment will get once the 2.1 update is released?
View 25 Replies View RelatedI remarked to my wife that the video shot with my new EVO looked like home movies from when we were kids. I then saw that the EVO shoots at 24 fps which explains the home movie video look. Will/can the Froyo update improve the video and or camera quality? It's not a deal breaker but when you have kids it's nice to have a video camera with you at all times. I've got 3 more weeks left on my 30 day trial period. I know the i Phone 4 will shoot at 30 fps and the test images I've seen are considerably better than my EVO.
View 35 Replies View RelatedI never watch YouTube videos in anything other than high quality. But the only way I can see to change the quality is via the menu on a per-video basis. It defaults to the lesser quality, which is REALLY crappy!
Is there some way to change the default to play videos in the best quality?
And also, what's to gain by playing them in the lesser quality? Bandwidth? Battery conservation? Load time? For a phone with such a magnificant display size & resolution, I can't imagine why anyone would want to view videos in anything but the best quality possible.
Has anyone else experienced this? I got the dead pixels on the camera after the update as well, but now there seems to be a red tint in video mode and well, the video doesn't seem very "HD" to me.

Does anyone have problems with sound when playing music. I seem to be have one channel missing when I play Pandora or my personal music. It sound like one side of the songs is coming through but through both speakers. is there and equalizer app out there?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI forgot my HD Camcorder and so used my phone's camcorder. And that is when I noticed the quality is horrible compared to video shot under 1.5. Video shot under 1.5 is not blocky at all and is clear. Under 2.1 it is blocky and poor. Anyone else with this issue and is there a fix in case I need to use it again? I do have it set on HIGH quality in the menu.

I know the screen can show some really great images and videos. I want to know what format the videos should be in to get the best quality. I moved a few hours of family guy from itunes to the phone, its in mp4 atm I am sure. And I just had a standard did to video converter off the internet.

But when watching the movie, they're is some chopiness and the quality is not as good like when watching a you tube clip in hd. Is there anything I can do to increase the video quality?

The iphone 4 is the leader in video but htc can't even beat Samsung. Is this hardware or software? This is worth rooting over if we can match the competition video quality. I love the phone but come on htc you can do better.

This just started happening recently: ill be watching videos in high quality, then all of a sudden ill click to watch another video and go through the menu to set it to high quality and only get home page and settings (high quality is supposed to be the third option).
I have connection, etc but the option just decides not to show up and the only way I got it back the last few times its done it is by turning the phone off/on. Anybody else run into this or am I missing something?
I have tried converting videos to the mobile MP4 format. I copy them to my SD card on my Moment, but when I browse to that folder in file viewer on my phone.. it doesn't see the files. Has anyone had any luck playing video's off the SD card?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI went in on Friday morning to the Sprint store and got the update for my Moment. I must say it fixed my key complaints. When I got back to my office (where I never got GPS reading before) it showed me on Google maps right where I was -Yeah! The lag in keystroke to letters appearing appears to be almost entirely gone. And Battery Life is really improved - to a crazy point (in a good way). I pulled it off the charger this morning, checked some scores today and then pretty much spent all evening downloading apps / playing games, etc and I was shocked when I got done - Still had about 70% battery life. Good job Sprint. I would have liked to have had this w/o going into the store, but it only took about 15 minutes and I have store close by, so no biggie.

We tried everything over the phone to try to get around the issue without having to reflash. Any other ideas? I tried pulling the battery for 2 minutes, changing the MSID number.The MSID number won't stay.It goes back to 0000000. Any other ideas or is reflashing the way to go?

Now this problem. the phone will not stay asleep after timeout or end button . I have to restart the phone when it does this to make it work normal for a a short while... then usually every day... just a few hours after a restart, it does it again.
So its very consistent, very annoying. Does it with apps or no apps, nothing running or everything running, with service, or with out service.... doesn't matter.
As you can see in the vid, extremely occasionally "shaking" the phone will make it stop. but as im typing this now, its back on again. most of the time shaking doesn't do anything. Next time i may try chunking it at my fireplace
