Samsung Moment :: CDMA Hero Rooted / Moment Next?
Nov 7, 2009They cdma hero just got rooted (http://theunlockr.com/2009/11/07/how-to-root-your-cdma-htc-hero-sprint-verizon/). At the bottom it says "ANYONE WANT TO TEST THIS METHOD ON THE DROID ERIS AND THE CLIQ? Don't see why it wouldn't work identically" I decided to give this a shot on the moment to no avail.I get all the way to "/data/local/asroot2 /system/bin/sh"then I receive "[1] Killed /data/local/asroot2 /system/bin/sh" not sure if I should get that or not But I tried to then remount /system as rw (mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system) and got "operation not permitted"Anyone give this a shot and get different results?
Anyone got ideas to make this work on the moment?
Samsung Moment :: Never Stays Roaming?
Jan 18, 2010i just recently bought the moment and so far love the phone. 1 big problem is where my house is located the sprint network is very weak. and the phone now is constantly switching from sprint to roaming but never stays on either more than a minute..on my old cell i could set the phone to "roam only" with the moment and a lot of new phones i notice that option is gone.?

Aug 18, 2010I think I have found a quirky solution to this nagging issue with Moment but it requires some patience. Basically whenever I see that dreaded EVDO up arrow stuck in place, I quickly switch to WiFi mode. I will keep it in WiFi mode anywhere from 5-15 minutes and then will turn it off and switch to EVDO. So far in 3 out of 3 tries, the CDMA lock went away. Now, you might say that just rebooting is a faster fix but there are times when I'm browsing a page or doing something else and don't want to reboot. Give it a try and let me know if it works with your Moment. I'm running Amstel rom 2.0

No matter how paragraph�s length is, it will always auto fit to the screen to read, even I zoom in, it will still fit perfectly to the screen, so no need to use finger to keep moving left and right to read the whole article
But today, all of sudden, it doesn�t do that any more, do you guys have the same problem? And do you know how to fix this? I read a lot on my phone and it was so cool it did that auto fit thing, even iphone doesn�t do that but I have tried restarted the phone, all the settings but can�t find anything.

May 31, 2009I want to adjust some settings to disable/enable data roaming and switch GSM/AUTO mode as the functions provided by Settings.apk(Settings -> Wireless controls -> Mobile networks -> "Data roaming"/"Use only 2G networks").
I know there is a way to get the current setting of data roaming through the api android.provider.Settings.Secure.DATA_ROAMING. But I don't know if I could change here to control the usage of Data roaming. If it is nothing but the status of data roaming. Changing here will cause the state of the system inconsistent.
Although I could find the api related to Data roaming, I can't find any thing about switching GSM/AUTO mode except for some internal api.
BTW, before this discussion I has posted an old related discussion, but I can't find it from the groups. Does this mean the system miss the discussion I posted?

Every now and then, maybe once every other day?, when I press Home, it asks me which home screen app to use. I always click on the one I want (dxTop) and check the box that says use as default. May 30, 2010OK. I asked this a different way but I'd like to get some more input. The loudness on the phone is definitely lower after the 2.1 update. To the point that the speakerphone can't be used in the car while under 1.5 it could be used (it was very loud). A lot of discussion on this topic and the only fix given is using a leaked program that is copyrighted. Is there a way to change the phone settings for loudness without using this program? It is almost like they applied that EU loudness mandate. Makes the speakerphone useless now for me.

Now, once I put the battery back in my phone, it goes into recovery mode. I'm worried that I broke it. Jul 1, 2010i have the moment and pressing the red hang up button will turn the screen on when its in sleep mode, but when i press it again to turn the screen off it wont, it has to time out. now the button still works to end calls and if i press and hold it will bring up the shut down window but like i said it wont just turn the screen off i have to wait for it to time out each time. is this a hardware problem or what is wrong.

Nov 12, 2010For those of you familiar with this problem, it's when your Moment's signal bars displays an "x" but is stuck in AIRPLANE MODE. When you hold down the END button to pull up the 3 item menu you see this (note that it says AIRPLANE MODE IS ON):
Silent Mode
(Sound is ON)
Airplane Mode
(Airplane Mode is ON)
Power Off
So I battery pulled the phone...didn't work. I then did the VOLUME UP/CALL/END button hold down trick to bring up the root menu and did the Master Reset (which took my phone back to stock + wiped out all of my apps and data so BACKUP YOUR PHONE FIRST):
Firmware: 2.1-update1
Baseband Version: S:M900.8.OS.DI06
Kernel Version: 2.6.29
Build Number: ECLAIR.DJ07
...didn't work
I then went into the root menu again and did the REBOOT, still nothing
I then proceeded to get mad and hit the phone a few times and BANG, the signal came back and has been back since (2 days running).
Is there something in the hardware configuration I can change to fix this lock-up issue? If I open up the phone, is there something I can do to fix this? Please someone help...obviously my solution won't last as a fix

Aug 17, 2010I want to root my Samsung Moment so that I can put Live Wallpapers on it and such, but every time I go to DL mode my computer says "USB Device Not Recognized" I have tried with and without USB Debugging on, install uninstall Drivers, going to REGEDIT to erase SAMSUNG drivers, formatting my phone, two different USB cables, three machines, and yet IT-STILL-WONT-WORK. Sep 30, 2010I just recently came upon my new samsung moment, so i wanted to go ahead and root it after having my rooted hero with froyo, and i loved it.
Anywhos, i got to the point where I update it using the files i got off of the tutorial, and now im at the point where i need to boot into recovery in order to flash the phone with my new rom. However, here lies the issue. My phone is turned off, and i hold down volume down, and both the call and end buttons simultaneously. It starts to load up, but then it just basically loads into my phone like it normally should. I hold the buttons down all the way through this time, and same deal.. so what am i doing wrong here?

- Camera preview does not display full scene that is captured in the image, especially noticeable in Google Goggles
- Phone will sometimes dial random contacts instead of the desired one when making a call to a contact with multiple stored numbers
- Pandora freezes phone (requiring battery pull) if headphones or power plug pulled out during playback
- Screen sometimes comes on with no input from user, draining battery
- Phone still has Airplane mode issue (may be hardware?)
- Proximity sensor is either broken by 2.1 or has a bug: screen stays on during calls and will sometimes turn off during use, requiring a finger over sensor to see screen.

Apr 18, 2010I have Samsung Moment 2.1 on my phone as well as the DD10 files and the Joey v5 ROM on my memory card but when I go into recovery mode its the old recovery mode not the new one and it doesn't read the files on my phone. I had the new recovery mode 2.1 on my phone earlier but I had to flash back to CL14 BC the 2.1 previously would start to open but wouldn't go to the main screen home screen that's everything..help please

Aug 22, 2010Do not leave wifi enabled. Thats it. Only use wifi as needed and immediately turn it off. If you leave it on you can go airplabe mode 2-3 x a day. Let me know, but i know it works for my samsung moment.

Figuring it to be a good idea I went ahead and downloaded it. It wasn't until some hours later when I started using the phone sideways with the keyboard not out that I noticed the screen kept timing out. It continued to do it each time I used it this way. Jan 17, 2010I recently switched from a Treo to the Moment. Generally quite pleased, but the Moxier email client doesn't seem to be displaying html links at all.
Exchange mail on the Treo still shows links, so unlike some of the other posts, the problem is not with the corporate exchange server stripping out html.
Is there a setting in Moxier to enable links within email messages?
