After wasting over an hour trying to update to 2.1, I've given up on trying to get the drivers to work, but now my phone is stuck in Download Mode. Is there a way to get out of this, and turn my phone back on, so I can use it for now, before taking it to the Sprint store tomorrow to have them do the update?

I was trying to update my Moment to 2.1, but something went wrong in the update process. I've tried simply restarting the process from the beginning, but that didn't work, and the progress bar still goes nowhere. If I turn the phone on i get a white screen that says "can not find jpg or png" at the top. If I do volume down+call+end, I get the same thing, but under the "can not find" error it says "recovery mode." But that's it. There are no options to select, and the buttons and touchscreen are unresponsive. However, I can still get to download mode with vol down + camera + end. What is the process for re flashing the phone using download mode, and where can I get the software?

You navigate with volume UP/DOWN, select with HOME, Menu toggles to "Manual Mode", whatever that it.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have helped some friends updating their SGS phones with the new software from the samsung firmwares website. However, now I'm stuck with a problem on one of the phones: It simply won't go into download mode. Normally, I press the volume down + menu key and while pressing them I push the power button. But nothing happens, excemt the phone starts up just like normal. I've done it the exact same way with all the models, but this model does not react like the rest of them. Today, I successfully updated 3 models this way, but model number 4 would not go into download mode. The model has the JM2 firmware now. The other 3 models had JM1 firmware, even though they were all purchased at the same date. Is there another way of getting the SGS into download mode?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSorry if this should go in a different spot. I attempted to root my phone, and as usual, the Sw updater couldn't find the drivers. Now, once I put the battery back in my phone, it goes into recovery mode. I'm worried that I broke it. If I select either the reboot or update options it goes to the screen with the "!" and the green android character and stays that way. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi have the moment and pressing the red hang up button will turn the screen on when its in sleep mode, but when i press it again to turn the screen off it wont, it has to time out. now the button still works to end calls and if i press and hold it will bring up the shut down window but like i said it wont just turn the screen off i have to wait for it to time out each time. is this a hardware problem or what is wrong.
View 7 Replies View RelatedFor those of you familiar with this problem, it's when your Moment's signal bars displays an "x" but is stuck in AIRPLANE MODE. When you hold down the END button to pull up the 3 item menu you see this (note that it says AIRPLANE MODE IS ON):
Silent Mode
(Sound is ON)
Airplane Mode
(Airplane Mode is ON)
Power Off
So I battery pulled the phone...didn't work. I then did the VOLUME UP/CALL/END button hold down trick to bring up the root menu and did the Master Reset (which took my phone back to stock + wiped out all of my apps and data so BACKUP YOUR PHONE FIRST):
Firmware: 2.1-update1
Baseband Version: S:M900.8.OS.DI06
Kernel Version: 2.6.29
Build Number: ECLAIR.DJ07
...didn't work
I then went into the root menu again and did the REBOOT, still nothing
I then proceeded to get mad and hit the phone a few times and BANG, the signal came back and has been back since (2 days running).
Is there something in the hardware configuration I can change to fix this lock-up issue? If I open up the phone, is there something I can do to fix this? Please someone help...obviously my solution won't last as a fix
I want to root my Samsung Moment so that I can put Live Wallpapers on it and such, but every time I go to DL mode my computer says "USB Device Not Recognized" I have tried with and without USB Debugging on, install uninstall Drivers, going to REGEDIT to erase SAMSUNG drivers, formatting my phone, two different USB cables, three machines, and yet IT-STILL-WONT-WORK. View 3 Replies View RelatedI just recently came upon my new samsung moment, so i wanted to go ahead and root it after having my rooted hero with froyo, and i loved it.
Anywhos, i got to the point where I update it using the files i got off of the tutorial, and now im at the point where i need to boot into recovery in order to flash the phone with my new rom. However, here lies the issue. My phone is turned off, and i hold down volume down, and both the call and end buttons simultaneously. It starts to load up, but then it just basically loads into my phone like it normally should. I hold the buttons down all the way through this time, and same deal.. so what am i doing wrong here?

- Camera preview does not display full scene that is captured in the image, especially noticeable in Google Goggles
- Phone will sometimes dial random contacts instead of the desired one when making a call to a contact with multiple stored numbers
- Pandora freezes phone (requiring battery pull) if headphones or power plug pulled out during playback
- Screen sometimes comes on with no input from user, draining battery
- Phone still has Airplane mode issue (may be hardware?)
- Proximity sensor is either broken by 2.1 or has a bug: screen stays on during calls and will sometimes turn off during use, requiring a finger over sensor to see screen.
I started a firmware update (using Odin) and, when downloading the amss, samsung says "Bad block table read fail". a lot of times and the progress bar (on Odin) stay locked. And the update cant finish. So, I restart the mobile... but it always come with the "Downloading..." screen. I've tried the recovery mode [vol down] + [start call] + [end call] buttons, but it always go to "Downloading..." screen. I can't exit from the download mode, and the phone doesn't start any more. I've removed the battery, but the same... the "diskette logo" come with "Downloading..." all the times.
So, two questions:
1) About the "bad block" message, I think it's because I left "turned on" the USB debugging. so, I want to start the phone to turn it off again. This make sense?
2) How to get rid of this screen? How to stop the download mode?
I have a Galaxy S running stock ROM. No lag fix no custom ROM no root nothing. Just now I tried going into recovery/download mode to see what features it have by pressing the volume down+home+Power button. Now the phone says "Downloading Do not turn of target! What can I do to solve this problem. Till now I haven't tried to restart the phone? Should I do that?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have Samsung Moment 2.1 on my phone as well as the DD10 files and the Joey v5 ROM on my memory card but when I go into recovery mode its the old recovery mode not the new one and it doesn't read the files on my phone. I had the new recovery mode 2.1 on my phone earlier but I had to flash back to CL14 BC the 2.1 previously would start to open but wouldn't go to the main screen home screen that's everything..help please
View 6 Replies View RelatedDo not leave wifi enabled. Thats it. Only use wifi as needed and immediately turn it off. If you leave it on you can go airplabe mode 2-3 x a day. Let me know, but i know it works for my samsung moment.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI woke this morning to a prompt on my phone saying there was an update available to fix the airplane mode issues as well as other issues with the Samsung Moment. Figuring it to be a good idea I went ahead and downloaded it. It wasn't until some hours later when I started using the phone sideways with the keyboard not out that I noticed the screen kept timing out. It continued to do it each time I used it this way. Has anyone else been experiencing this issue or is my phone just special? When will these bugs be fixed? I am starting to lose patients with the phone.

When I tried to open it an error message popped up saying "out of memory". I have plenty of memory left on both my sd card and internal memory so I am stumped as to what "memory" the message is referring to.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to a rooted 2.1 system and all worked well for about a week, including use of the Market. But now I can't download anything from the Market at this point. I've tried every solution I've seen on this and other forums, but nothing has solved the issue. I've tried rebooting through recovery, pulling out the battery, starting Google Talk (apparently that helps with other phones), checked the 'okay to download third-party apps/unknown sources' mark in settings, and cleared the cache out of every application. I've uninstalled every application I've downloaded in the last 3-4 days.
However, I can't find the Market app to clear the cache - would seem like if I cleared the cache from the Market app, that might do the trick. I remember seeing it as an manageable app in 1.5, but it's not showing in 2.1.
Is the Market app in 2.1 hidden somehow? I've used Root Explorer, ASTRO and the stock apps manager but none show the Market program as an application.
Also, are there other suggestions I haven't tried?
The reason it's an issue right now is because I removed the mms.apk program (moved it to the SD card, but it won't re-install -- tried ASTRO and Root Explorer) and was using Handsent SMS exclusively for texting. But Handsent had some problems so I uninstalled it and was about to re-install it but now I can't successfully download anything from the Market. So, I have no texting ability right now.
Simple question really, I'd like to replace my wall paper and the ones with the phone are not to my liking. What are your favorites or do you know of any Android ready, Moment sized, wall paper website galleries that I can browse?

I installed cyanogenmod 10.1, but my battery is dying faster and my operators mobile internet data can't work either, so I want to go back to my stock android version. I found out that I need to go to download mode so I did, but the problem is: after i hold home+power+vol. down, green android guy appears and below it said 'download do not turn off the target!', it's all that is on the screen and it just stays like that forever..
View 3 Replies View RelatedFollowing different tutorials on how to root my device, they all begin with instructing me to enter "download mode." They all seem to say that I need to press Power+Volume Down+Home and, when the warning screen appears, press Volume Up. Well, I hold down Power+Volume Down+Home (I check a video to make extra sure I was holding down the correct buttons) and all that the device ever does is continually display the initial splash screen, the reboot again. If I let go, the device goes into "manual mode" in which it prompts to reboot, update the device or factory reset it. Am I missing something?
