Samsung Moment :: AIM Instant Messenger / Can't Change My Custom Away Message
Dec 23, 2009A couple of quick questions.. I can't change my custom away message (status), even though it says to tap your screen name at the top of the buddy list. Can you read people's away messages with this phone, if so how? When i get a new IM, i get sent a website browser in the notification along with the the person's screen name who IMed me, but when i click the link, it never loads up and shows an error, anyway to fix this or anything?

Jun 7, 2010I keep all my instant messengers signed in on my desktop and something on my phone keeps logging in and booting me off of them. I have everything that i can think of turned off like Meebo yet it keeps happening. I checked the battery status to make sure it didnt list anything as running that i didnt notice. Dunno why it keeps happening starting to get kind of annoying.

Jun 11, 2010I just upgraded to the Evo from the Hero. I was lucky and the store did not record my equipment upgrade last time, so I was eligible at the launch date. I used to use the IM app on the Hero, but it looks like it did not make it to the Evo. Am I missing a stock HTC app and it is now renamed or part of another app? If not, what is my best choice - something like ebuddy? I mainly use Y messenger.

Dec 30, 2009Why can't we just get a good IM app like beejive for android? I have an iPod Touch and every IM app I've seen in the apple app store blows anything we got. Meebo, ebuddu, hi aim, yahoo and all that other crap sucks compared to the iPhone IMs. Is there a way to contact google or someone incharge of the market place to add more IM apps?

I've tried Meebo and eBuddy but they both seem to disconnect if you leave your phone alone for so long. I want something like BBM that can run in the background and give me a notification when someone is trying to chat with me.

Nov 25, 2010I notice that the home screen is customizable but not the four applications on the bottom, the call, email, browser and applications. How would I change those icons with different icons? Mainly the email and browser. How do I turn off or at least severly limit the data that goes to and from my phone. I do not have wireless and am just a bit paranoid about going over my data limit. I got the phone from work and this is my first smartphone so I am a bit nervous about anything I do on it.

Previously, I had "turned off" the notification sounds from the stock HTC messaging app, but now I cannot remember where I did that. I have gone to settings, but I cannot find how to turn it off for the life of me. Now I get double notifications, and I only want Handcent notifications.

Also a tip, although it tells you you cannot use over wifi I find it works fine if you disconect the wifi whilst signing in and then reconnect the wifi.

Feb 5, 2013 i've changed three android tablets so far, rooted my phone, installed and tweaked dozen of roms on it,
on both my tablet and phone i have facebook and gmail applications. they are basically the same .apks since i have a backup of them on a sd card and if i format one device, i often use restire the apps from the sd card.
and you know how you get an instant notification on your phone if you receive a fb message or an e-mail? that doesn't happen on my tablet. it seems that a couple of minutes after i turn off the display on my tablet, it drops the wifi connection (a power save thing i suppose).
is there any way to ensure a constant wifi connection on my tablet so that i receive email/fb notifications in real time and just not after i turn the display on?
Samsung Moment :: Trying To Upgrade To 2.1 Had An Error
Apr 28, 2010I got 87% complete and then it froze. Now my phone wont do anything but get an sdx screen. Holding volume down camera and end wont do anything but maybe 1 out of 100 times. When it finally gets to the download screen the updater just sits and says ready and never downloads. Then after a minute of that the phone exits that screen automatically and just goes to a charging screen. PLEASE HELP my phone isnt even a phone currently it will do nothing.

Feb 28, 2010Every time i try and look for and update like PRL firware or anything i always get an error message saying there is no network connection. and this also happens when i run the devices self service 1.1. But the thing is right after i try one of those things i wait a minute or so then open up the browser and have a fine a connection.

Oct 3, 2010Searched the forums on this and found nothing - when I'm recording video after a few minutes I always get a "recording failed" error message. The video recording is there, but I have to start a new recording if I want to continue.
I'm recording at full resolution (not MMS) to the OEM external SD card. The card itself has over half its space left, so I'm not running out of room.
