I have never done rooting and new to it, would it be possible to to get it back to original factory settings after rooting?

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy unbranded SGS is currently running 2.2 (I9000XXJPM, FROYO.XWJP6) which I updated via the registery hack last month. It's running smooth and I've not had any problems My question is, what is the difference between my existing version and the 'offical' Froyo 2.2 that will be released soon? Would I be able to update my firmware to the newer version since I'm already on 2.2 (I9000XXJPM, FROYO.XWJP6)?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm probably in the same situation as many SGS owners, i.e. installed the one click LAG fix to overcome the issues with 2.1. As 2.2 is due out (in the UK) probably sometime in the next few weeks, can someone more technical advise if the LAG fix should be removed and the phone unrooted before the official upgrade. Additionally, is there any benefit moving up to 2.2 other than Flash? I haven't had any real issues with the phone other than the initial LAG. I'm on Orange UK, but I don't suppose that really matters?
View 7 Replies View Relatedso i tried to upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2 through KIES this resulted in a failed upgrade, so i then tried to use Odin. unfortunately the firmware i flashed to caused even more bugs and kept restarting, So I then tried to use KIES/Odin to flash to a different firmware i now get two different errors
1. along the lines of storage is not ready - copying of default media fails
2. cannot mount a certain file - stl11. or something ?
I have read a few posts hear saying that it is recommended that after you have upgraded to froyo 2.2 that you should do a System Reset otherwise things might run slower than before?
I have a lot of applications (6 pages) installed on my SGS and also contacts etc setup. I also have some gameloft apps that I cannot redownload if I lost them without paying again.
I am guessing that a reset will wipe all this out? Is there another way without having to start again?
I have a big problem with my Galaxy S immediately after upgrading to the JPM/Froyo firmware. Immediately after the update the phone attempted to reboot, and now stays on the Galaxy S logo way too long before the screen goes blank and only the bottom two buttons are illuminated. And it just stays like that. I have a feeling that it might have something to do with the OneClickLagFix that was installed on the phone; maybe the upgrade didn't like the lag fix being there. Also, on pressing VolumeDn, Home and Power to get the recovery screen, the screen is replaced with a yellow "Downloading. Do not turn off Target!!!" splash. So there are no recovery options.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo since the day I got my Eve (GW620) it's had a tendency to drop 90% of the calls I'm on, usually within the first 2 minutes. I've had all intentions of sending the device back for a replacement, which is why I paid the extra $50 for the warranty, however I've been lazy and it never went back. The device hasn't been used since July, until today. I found out that OpenEtna had got a working 2.2 Froyo ROM for the EVE, so I figured what the hell, let's play with this thing. So anyways I took it out of its box, rooted it, flashed it with the custom 2.2 ROM and was loving it, until I made a phone call and it dropped (after about 10 minutes).
Now for the last 4 hours I've been trying to find an original Rogers ROM to flash back to the device so I can ship it back and get a new one but this seems to be impossible - so to my fellow Eve owners, does anyone have the original Rogers boot.img and system.img for the Eve, or know where I can find it? Or anyone who has not installed a custom ROM, would you be willing to make a backup, factory restore, make another backup (with Original ROM), send me the boot.img and system.img, then reinstall their first back up?I did try tolemac's toleROM which is a 1.5 ROM, but it's custom too, already rooted with none of the Rogers apps.
How to flash the ROM back to the original factory setup.
The instructions say:
Download the "Stock Asus Rom-and-bootloader.zip" available in the "Download" Section.
It includes the Asus Vcom Drivers, Flash Tools and the Stock Firmware (Rom, Locked Bootloader, etc)
Tablet MUST BE TURNED OFF, and with full battery The VCOMM Drivers MUST be installed
Then it has you connect the tablet to a PC. Do I download the .zip file to the PC? Do I install the VCOMM drivers to the Memo Pad HD 7??

Would the process just require using the RUU to flash back to stock and waiting for the update? I am currently all the way rooted and running the Cyanogen nightly.

I've posted this question over on the Samsung Galaxy S section, however, it may be a more general query that someone can help with, particularly the unrooting query as I realise some other phone users have already went through the 2.1-2.2 upgrade. I've rooted and applied the "one click LAG fix" to my glitchy SGS running 2.1 and the phone performs very smoothly and reliably since. (benchmarks are consistently over 2200, although I realise that statistics aren't everything)
It is expected that sometime in the next few weeks in the UK (???) that the upgrade to Froyo will be available through the Samsung KIES desktop software rather than OTA and I have the following queries.
1. Should the phone be unrooted before an upgrade is attempted?
2. Should the "LAG fix" be removed before an upgrade?
3. Has anyone previously removed their "LAG fix" and can they advise if there are any gotchas I should look out for?
I own a galaxy music S6010 that has problems with connection (ot stable). I saw a new rom release in samfirmware (XXALJ6) how can I flash it? Odin??
View 6 Replies View RelatedI still have not received the ota 2.2 update for my motorola droid. I used to have my droid rooted to droidmod I think, I started having some problems (this was months ago so I'm sure everything was fixed) and I unrooted and went back to stock 2.0.1 and then used the ota to update to 2.1. So I am waiting on froyo and I was just wondering if I update and don't like it will I be able to flash back to 2.0.1.

because i updated the new android 1.5 rom (I7500ZHJK1) at samsung, i cant find odin original rom and i want keep the Warranty.
I got the Galaxy from my mother (she switched to another phone), but she lost the USBcable. I found a way of sending files via WiFi to the sdcard, and also connected adb via WiFi, but I can't flash the new recovery because I'd have no WiFi connection in fastboot. Is there a way to flash an official update from the sdcard using stock recovery? I successfully entered recovery but there are no options, and I can't find a guide of any kind. I tried buying the cable, but none of the shops had the official one, so finally I bought a third party cable that only charges the phone through usb, but windows gives me some error and doesn't recognize it as a device.

When I first got this phoe, I deleted the original espn, cnn and facebook shortcuts that came preloaded on the right screen. I have since come to realize that I check espn A LOT and I wanted the shortcut back there. So I added a bookmark, but the original icon that came preloaded just looked a lot better, does anyone know if there is a way to get the original icon back without doing a factory reset?
