I have a samsung galaxy s on T-Mobile in the UK. (Contract). I read somewhere that the update is only for Pay-As-You-Go and not contract phones? Is this true? Also, Will this fix the "Text being sent to wrong person bug"?

i just got a new galaxy s yesterday so far i've found it really useful.but today i realized that when i get text messages, the received time is almost 4 hour behind.when i send a text, it shows the right time but only when i receive it
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo sometimes i receive a text and it will (for example) say its from matt when i know its actually from ian and if i just reply (to send back to ian) to it, it sends it to matt (who it thinks its from) not ian who actually sent it!
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo, after having to live with GPS that's at best flaky and at worst non-existent for the last three months I've now found something else related Samsung has managed to screw up. All the photos my phone has taken are geotagged with 0 lat, 0 lon. So, somewhere off the west coast of Africa. Other handsets I've used have tagged with the inexact location (i.e. cell tower fix) when an accurate location isn't available.
I would expect either this or no tag at all. Maybe while I'm stripping off the tags this evening I'll put in an order for a Desire HD. Thanks Samsung, I'm just about annoyed enough now to no longer care what fixes or updates you may choose to grace us with at some unspecified point in the future. Ok, that rant may have been a bit over the top but I do feel a little better now!
I have been having a bunch of issues with the messaging app, and was wondering if it was just me. I keep having this issue when I will select a text conversation to open, and it will open another thread. I have made sure I am selecting the right conversation, it just likes opening another one. Also sometimes when I use the puzzle piece unlock method to go straight to the new text, it just opens the homescreen, or opens to the list of text conversations when it is supposed to open the specific thread. I am rooted, with LauncherPro running, but I had the same issues when running full TW.

I opened my 'Messages' inbox by clicking the Messages icon. At the top of the screen it showed that the message was from my mate Doug, not my brother. on the command prompt when i have to do the fast boot, and next, <waiting for device> there is no conection between the phone and the computer, and stays <waiting for device> forever!

Prior to installing the external card - the folders app showed /sd. Which I assumed was the internal one. Then I insert the external one, reboot the phone, and tehre is no additional directory in the folder view. Why is this? Secondly, its a 16GB card. Its reported as 14.58GB. The format option is greyed out. Is it automatically mounted at power on? Ideally I want to know where I install things to know that they are on the external card.
View 15 Replies View RelatedFirst time poster and long time reader. First off I got the Captivate today and love it. I had the Aria and took it back and got this today. I just have a couple of questions. I will list them so it doesn't get confusing.
1. I saw in a few reviews that the battery has standby time of over a month and is generally very good and is a big part of why I bought the phone. That being said, since a full charge at 2:00pm, I am currently (9:00pm) in the yellow on my battery with normal use (ie minimal web browsing, 4 phone calls all under 2 minutes, about 10 total texts and 3 downloaded apps, and just browsing the phones features all while having a task manager). Should I just charge it after a few days and see where I am at?
2. My house usually gives me a pretty good signal but for some reason, I only have 1-2 bars in most of the areas. However, I seem to still be able to do things such as make phone calls with no bars. As for the "death grip", I also have held the phone with a case on it and the signal diminished very quickly which concerns me. A steady 2-3 bars I would be fine with, but 1 bar is unacceptable.
3. Timestamps on text messages are wrong just like they were on the Aria. It is a minor thing but it bugs the hell out of me.
Overall the phone is awesome but I buy a phone for two reasons, number one it has to be a good phone (call quality and reception) and number two it must have an above average battery (7 hours with minimal usage concerns me). I hope I am just overreacting but these are issues I think should be talked about.

I am receiving alot of messages off my other half and like to keep some but i don't want to have to keep going back to a 121 message thread. can i not have 2 or 3 threads from the same contact?
I have noticed that after the recent update, that if i have multiple text messages from different people and if i want to delete a certain one, it will delete one that i wanted to keep. Anyone else see this? Oh its happens maybe 30 percent of the time.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've searched using a couple of the above keywords and found nothing.Basically I have a layout with a few textview elements a few edittext elements and a few buttons. In the java any incorrect entries by the user in the edittext elements should change a textview element which acts as user instructions to prompt the user to make corrections, the problem is it actually changes one of the button texts. Here is the code for the layout (activity_main.xml):

I know this worked as intended when I only had buttons 1-3, but adding 4 and 5 seems to have started something odd, I can't see anything wrong so am guessing this is a stupid mistake on my part. For reference it is button4 which has it's text changed by the java code. My only thought was that this was something more complicated caused by relative layout and inheritence.
I received a couple of text messages from Vodafone today, and the Messages app showed the sender as one of my personal contacts! It happened to be the last contact that I edited in the People app, and seems like a bug. Has anyone else seen this? this is on an unlocked Desire bought from mobiles.co.uk.

I am not hitting the wrong person since the other person's name is nowhere on the screen. I've had 3 HTC EVO that did the same thing so im assuming this is software issue.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo, I have this annoyance on the S4 that occurs whenever I use the in-built Gallery and Internet app. Whenever I select a photo to delete, the phone goes "Tick box, ticked." Or when I unelected a photo, "Tick box, unticked." Another example of this is when I go onto the Internet on the phone, and I go to a webpage, the phone goes "Page, refreshed." I've tried to turn everything associated with this problem, off but it just keeps re-occurring. How to turn this off.

View 14 Replies View RelatedMy wife has noticed that when she does a text message, once it has gone over a certain character limit (which seems to be about 50 characters), when she hits send a message comes up saying 'Converting to MMS' (or something like that). On all our other phones, if you do a long text like this it just sends the message as mutliple texts instead of converting to mms.
What this means is that as it goes as mms instead of a text message, she gets charged for it (she gets unlimted texts on her plan, but this doesnt include mms).
Is this normal with the SGS, or is there a way to stop it converting to mms?

I am trying to find a way to stop text history being stored in the history screen not in the actual text message screen, anyone found a way to do this? I know I can untick boses but everytime you go out of the history screen and back in the blooming boxes are ticked again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedLast year when I was living in South Korea I bought a Samsung Galaxy S2 and I had no problems with it but since i've been back in the UK every time I text it converts my message into a MMS even though i'm only sending about 80 characters. It's really annoying and means I can only send a few words on each text hah
I've read up online and ive tried downloading some SMS apps such as handcent etc but nothing is working I can't afford to buy a new phone currently, desperately trying to fix this.
