I use Handcent SMS. In the last 2 days, I have had two instances where I have replied to a text message that I received and the text ended up getting sent to a different contact.

Every time my sister in law forwards a message to my wife, it shows up that I sent the message. Has anyone seen this before and if so, how do I fix it?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI got an Android device specifically for Google integration, since my employer uses Google for 50% of our work (email, calendar, chat). Yet bizarrely, Android's Gmail app seems to be the weakest point of their platform.
IMHO (and please not let this become some kind of fanboy bashfest of someone trying to put in constructive criticism here):
The "Reply," "Reply All," and "Forward" buttons are very inconvenient -- at the bottom of the message, rather than a toolbar of some kind. This means that when I want to respond to one of those interminable email chains, I have to scroll past wads of old crap to reply. I've had intermittent success with forwarding attachments. It seems unpredictable when an attachment will forward and when it won't. Can someone shed some light into when it works? I suspect it has something to do with Outlook or other clients that attach files in non-standard ways. Very limited offline functionality. I would really prefer if there were an IMAP mode so I can review email while offline (e.g. on the plane or underground). Specific to the Droid: The D-Pad has so much potential, but instead all it does is jump from link to link in an email, which I do not find intuitive at all. At a minimum I'd think that the D-Pad would let you scroll; ideally, I'd like to see the D-Pad help solve the first problem described above (lack of access to the reply and forward buttons) so enough whining from me. I'd appreciate any solutions to the above (and "Shut up and deal with it" is not appreciated). It could be keystroke shortcuts I'm not aware of, apps that work better than the default Gmail program, pending app updates that take advantage of the Droid's unique hardware, etc.
Ive got a really annoying bug with a contact on my phone using the default SMS app. I can text him no problem, but if he sends me a message and I try and reply I get a text from my carrier T-Mobile UK saying the number I am sending to is incorrect because it is missing the +.
For example say the contacts number is +4412345678 it is stored in my phonebook as "+4412345678". But when I reply the SMS client sends it to "4412345678" which is not correct as it is missing the +
If I change the contacts number to 0712345678 when I reply it still fails as it tries to send the text to 712345678.
Its totally random and confusing it also missed out the first number or +. I have tried deleting the contact all together but even then when repying it always forgets to put the "+". Its only the default SMS client which does this and it only happens with one contact. If I use Handcent it works ok but I would prefer to use the default client if possible.
Since I got the original 2.2 update for my Droid, whenever I get a new text message and slide down the notification bar and select the new message, it takes me to the main text message window rather than the actual thread to reply to the person. It is really annoying because it requires an extra step. I figured it would be fixed with the second 2.2 update but it didn't. I called Verizon and they called Motorola and nobody knew of the problem so they shipped me out a new phone and it still does it! I am not sure if I am the only one experiencing this or if its normal. It doesn't do it 100% of the time but closer to 90% probably.

As in, for examply this morning a friend texted me something that was not suppose to go to me, but they typed the message to the person that it should have went to but it did not, is this just a motorola droid problem? because i have not had this problem with my new driod incredible.

If I go into the messaging app, it works as it should (replies to the same number).

If I have two friends named Dan, one on facebook and one that i actually call, it is pulling the picture of fb one and linking all the phone numbers in one contact! View 4 Replies View RelatedI know this is probably basic but I have to ask anyway. When I want to forward a picture or text message to someone else on my contact list I always have to enter information in the "To" box. (Example) In this instance, I want to forward a text message to "Bryan." I hold down the message until the "Forward" option pops up and I select that. In this "To" box I type Bryan and nothing comes up but the number's corresponding number (B=2, R=7, etc) I do not get a drop down list giving me Bryan's name. For any text message I send I have to know the complete number of who I'm wanting to forward it to. Is there a setting I need to adjust? Or is there a app that will give me the option of bringing up my contact list so I can just select the person I want to send to via touch screen? Its very annoying.
I have searched and read that most people can just type the first few letters of a name or number and get a list of people from the contact list to choose from on the contact list however I never get anyone Thank you for any information.
Have a problem with the DX. Hopefully someone can help. I have deleted several of my text message threads but they show up in my contact history and I cant get rid of them how do I permanently get rid of them . where they show up in contact history is if you delete a text thread and then you go to that persons contact info and swipe left 3 times the text thread is there , how do you delete this from this location ?

All my pictures are from Facebook so if everything works right the pictures I see in gvoice should be the same as the profile pix in FB.
When I receive a text and try to reply I cannot enter into qwerty when I turn phone on side. I'm using Handcent, but not sure if i'm receiving on Handcent. It only happens when I first, initially, get the text notification.
View 1 Replies View RelatedA while back I was looking through either the stock messaging app or Handcent and saw an option to auto reply to text messages, and you could change the text to make it say whatever you needed it to say. Today I tried looking for that option again and didn't find anything. I searched on the forum but only found other apps that I would need to install in order to do this. Hopefully someone knows what option I am talking about or uses it. If not, I can always use Tasker to do this, but prefer to use the messaging apps.Edit: So I found the answer about 30 seconds after posting this. These options are not included in the Official HTC 2.1 Release for the Hero. We have a family plan on Verizon and my wife and son have iPhone 4's. Both of them can "Reply All" to group texts.
I tried looking for that option in both the stock HTC messaging app and Handcent, which I use exclusively, and can't seem to find it.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm on a rooted D1. I've had this problem w/ the last couple rooted ROMs. When I reply to a person's email it gets stuck in the outbox. The other day I happened to check it and there were 9 messages in there from the past 3 days that never were sent. I type the message and hit send, but it's never sent. It keeps saying 'sending' I had this problem today w/ SS 4.7 and prior to that had a problem a few days ago w/ ultimate droid and also whatever other ROM I was using last week. I can't remember. I am pretty sure I went to apps, gmail and cleared data and that didn't help.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I've been using SMS Popup lately, but I've learned that it doesn't play well with the stock messaging application on the Droid X. It will send text messages that have been sent for a whole day back to certain contacts. Anyway, I've just been wondering what else is a good application for quick reply? I love the interface of the standard messaging application. Sure, I wish I could change some colours, but I'm not going to worry about it as it works flawlessly for me. I just wish more people would start adding a quick reply feature with a feature to turn it off for those that don't care for it. So has anyone come across any good applications like SMS Popup? I'm not really willing to go to Handcent or Chomp when stock app works just perfectly.

And she can text me, but I can't reply or originate a text.I have deleted her from gmail contacts and phone contacts and re-entered her info fresh several times. Still nothing. I updated to os 2.1, but this happened days after that. Anyone having this issue too? Is it on my end or her end?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I receive a call, I swipe the red slider to the left to ignore the call and for a second the list of texts come up, but only for a second. It is too fast for me to tap on a choice, so it sends the caller to the voicemail which is normal I think.

I hope someone can suggest something to help?I occasionally have issues replying to text messages! When I send the messages, I receive a message saying: 'message not sent', even though I have signal at the time. View 1 Replies View RelatedIf someone sends me a group text, I usually end up with a bunch of replies from people I don't know. Same thing happens to everyone I send a group text to - they end up with a bunch of replies from people they don't know. This might be surprising to the software developers, but most of us have more than two friends, and those friends don't all know each other. It would be awesome if this feature could be turned off so that people aren't unnecessarily subjected to spam from others, who certainly don't intend for a large audience to see their replies.
This usually just results in confusion about who they're getting all these messages from, and I end up getting a bunch of "who is this" messages too. It's a really dopey feature because it definitely destroys privacy, and now my friends/family think they can't reply to my texts without others being able to read their responses.
Even I think twice about responding to a text now because I don't want a bunch of people who I don't know reading a response I intend only a friend to see, and I really don't want to end up with about 15 "who's this?" texts.
Is there any way to turn this off, or are we stuck with this "feature"?
I have a bit of a dilliema when it comes to texting on this phone. I am coming from a BB curve. I run a small business and I schedule my employees through text message. I do so 10+ employees at a time. The problem I have found with Handcent and Chomp, is that if I message 10 people "Work Thursday at 315" when they reply to confirm, it doesnt show my original message, so I have no idea what they are confirming because Im often sending out many different times to many different people. Now, the stock messaging app DOES show my original message when they reply, but the sort order is all screwed up.
View 3 Replies View RelatedEvery now and then when I get a text and try to reply, none of the letter buttons will work. From what I've tried, the only way to fix it is to exit all the way out of the messaging application and go back in. The buttons will animate like they are being pushed, vibrate, and even show swype trails and word suggestions, but none of my words will show up on the screen.
I haven't figured out the specific instances when this happens. It seems a little random but I think it may only happen when I lock the screen without leaving the messaging application first, I get a text, and try to reply immediately from the app. But I'm really not sure - it might just be random.
I'm not the only one experiencing this on the Incredible. When you voice dial someone, does it show the correct picture for that contact? In my case, it calls the right person, but shows the picture of a different contact entirely.

I opened my 'Messages' inbox by clicking the Messages icon. At the top of the screen it showed that the message was from my mate Doug, not my brother. The issue I have is that my sister has our home number listed on her Facebook profile as a contact number. I have linked this profile to her contact.
I have also set up 'Home' as a person on the phone. But when the home number calls me, it shows it as being my sister calling rather than home.
Is there anyway to remove the home number from my sister's contact details without de-syncing her Facebook profile?
I use HandecentSMS to text and I can send and recieve, but when I do recieve them I can only read in the quick reply screen and the notification bar, but it won't show up in my conversation screen so it looks like I am talking to myself. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app and it still won't work properly.
