Sep 18, 2010I have the screen timeout set to 1 min which works fine until I use the phone. When using the phone the screen times out (and locks) in about 5 seconds. This is a real pain when using voicemail etc and you need to interact with the keypad.

Sep 25, 2010Whilst sitting in my home, with full bars for reception on my Galaxy S, I ran a SpeedTest on it. The icon on the 'phone displays a 3G symbol. Results: Download: 384kB Upload:482kB Provider: Tele2/Amsterdam,NL. 3G is really exceeding exceptions. This is on a 2Gb download data plan. Great (Feel the sarcasm )Is this to be expected? Regards.

May 6, 2013 I have a Samsung Galaxy S running CyanogenMod 9.
I want to test if my 3g is actually working or not. I used to use the 3G internet on the phone until I changed plan without mobile internet and now I've changed back. The problem is there is no 3G connection now.
I've been onto my network's forums and followed their instructions for setting up APN's etc. and the settings are perfect (even though I never changed them since the last time it worked) So my question is that is there some way to test if your 3G hardware is actually functioning?

Jul 15, 2010Every time the screen blanks after timeout it locks the phone - this is inconvenient because every time I pick the phone up to use I have to unlock it. is there any way to stop this - I would prefer it to never lock unless I use the power/lock button.

Jun 18, 2010Has anyone been able to compare the Galaxy S and the Evo firsthand? I canceled my Evo order to see what the S Pro will be like. On paper I feel that except for the Evo's slightly bigger screen the Galaxy S has better features including better screen technology, but as we've heard with some peoples' Evos there can be hidden issues. Any thoughts? I guess it's not really possible to do a side by side comparison yet unless someone has one of the handsets and travels to a country where they're selling the other one, or has had a chance to use a prototype.

Sep 8, 2010Something weird happens to my phone. At times when I am browsing through my apps in the applications window, the phone suddenly goes back to the home screen after about 10-15 secs of inactivity. It vibrates a little bit as if the back button is being pressed. I am 100% sure I am not pressing the back button.
Other times, when I start up an app (gmail, facebook, internet, music player, etc) it goes back after about 10 secs of inactivity. It seems to always want to go back to the home screen and it will keep going back till it arrives at the home screen.
I just got my phone two days ago and haven't done anything much on the phone yet.

Jul 18, 2010Anything you guys can think that could help? I've searched around, and found that holding down VOLUME DOWN and Power lets you hard reset the phone, but this doesn't work for me. I hold them down, and the phone just boots up like normal and then shuts off.I rooted it, and it was working fine. Rebooted a few times and then it quit working.

Oct 2, 2010I want to be able to have two projects, one that contains production code and one that contains test code. This shouldn't necessarily be an Android-specific question, but I'm want to write some unit tests for some non-platform-specific Android code on the host PC.
I created a new Java project so I can run the unit tests on the PC and only include the non-platform-specific classes from the Android project. Both projects are opened in the same Eclipse workspace. I assume I need to somehow include these Android-project sources explicitly in the new project where I'll run the Junit tests, but I can't figure out how to do this.

Aug 3, 2010At certain angles under strong lighting (basically when light is shining onto, but not reflected back off the screen) I can see a line that looks like it might be the edge of a circuit board behind my screen (when the display is off). Initially I thought it was a scratch, but on closer inspection, it's too thick a line, and much too precise and engineered looking to be one.
It's sorta this shape and runs across behind the screen, about 2/3 of the way up:
