I have five symbols at the top of my screen (same level as battery, time etc) on the left hand side. They look like black sheets of paper with the corner folded over and they have ticks in the middle of them. On the far left of them is a box with a '7' in it. Does anyone know what they are as they aren't in the handbook!

My phone is Galaxy S2 Skyrocket on AT&T, not rooted or anything.
Google Search says "Unusual traffic from your computer network" and WON'T SEARCH. This happens even if I try type in the search or use voice command.
Here we go: Go to Home screen, get into "Settings", then "Applications", then "Manage Applications"In my list, I selected Gmail, then "Clear Data" (when this option is available) and "Uninstall updates" (may be only "Uninstall")I did the same thing for the following apps:Google Play BooksGoogle Play servicesGoogle Play StoreGoogle Search
Then I powered off the phone, waited 10 seconds and restarted. I let it reboot completely and then the 'update' notifications appeared on the Home screen. I updated each app carefully, and let it settle, then updated the next, until all were updated. Google 'Search' now works perfectly!!
I don't want to mess up the phone by my mistake.
Are there app that i can do this? simple and easy.
The display area of my SGS has been reduced there is now a black line (approximatively 1 millimeter thick) around the display now anything that should be displayed has been centered (a kind of)i have noticed that after press-holding the HOME BUTTON (to get to the task manager).even when the phone that black border is still there and it look like the screen has been pushed down the display is not now at the same level as the top-cover (or screen cover).I have used the factory reset but nothing has changed.My phone look horrible now.

I have ADW launcher EX and ROOT access. The problem started to appear after I have gained root access... it seems.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 and suddenly appeared an icon in the status bar with the character "i" and a prohibited sign (Screenshot attached). Since then it seems I don't get the notifying icons (email, texts, etc...) but if I pull the bar down, i can see the notifications in full format (email with sender, text, etc... as always).
How to re-enable again the notify icons?
How do you move an icon in application menu from one screen to another? I know I can rearrange icons by clicking menu button then edit, but I can't move an icon from one screen to another. The same goes in application menu and in home menu.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung Galaxy S4 on Android 4.2.2. Is there any way of removing ongoing icons which permanently sit on the left side of the status bar? I ask because apps like 'Unlock with WiFi' warns you when disabling its permanent icon that it will hinder the process' activity. I tested it and yes, the app didn't detect the state of my WiFi well. Same goes for BBM's Connected icon.
Is there any way of making their visibility 0% or making the icons 0px, if not 1px, without disabling the icons entirely?
I wanted to change the size of my icons, so that more of them could fit on the screen. So I download LCD Density Modder and Increased the amount to 160. After I booted my phone, my screen got zoomed in instead of decreasing. Now I cant even type up my password cause the numbers can't fit in the screen. I have no access to my phone because my phone is locked. Btw, I have a Samsung Galaxy Fit S5670 (rooted) .

It is especially important since I have to type in a password each time to access the screen due to my work email security requirements (it's almost not worth it).

It almost looks like the contrast is set too high or something. It's very strange. Does anyone know if this can be fixed on the phone or if we need to bring it back to the Verizon store.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a black background, I keep the display settings at the lowest brightness settings, and I keep the screen off when I'm not using it, but my phone is dying after 8-10 hours if I don't use it very much and 4-5 hours if I use it regularly. Every time it indicates that it needs to be recharged, 65-80% of the power is going to the display. I...don't see how that can be.I'm using a Samsung Vibrant that I bought on July 30th.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi cracked my Samsung Galaxy s3 screen and the screen was on working fine but i bought a kit to replace the screen and now i get no display on my samsung galaxy s3 i can charge my phone and Green led pops up i can also hear the volume as i turn it up and i can connect to computer as well but i cant see no display? Also phone was rooted to jellybean 4.3 if that makes a difference.

I don't know what's wrong with my phone, but the screen display is messed up. Sometimes, the screen will display if I keep clicking the power button one-hundred times, but other than that it won't budge. Everything thing else works when I press the power button, the keyboard lights up, the home button and other buttons light, just not the screen. Like I said, I have to repeatedly press the power button so that in a slight chance, the screen might display.

I have done some form of reset by dialing *2767*3855# but I have not been able to do the factory reset by pressing the power button while holding the volume down button. Whenever I make or receive a call, the name is shown, and the phone number is shown underneath the name instead of the type that the number is associated with.Any way to show the type (mobile, work, home) instead of the number itself? Otherwise are we supposed to memorize which numbers belong to work, mobile, or home?I don't even see any icons, or colour changes that would signify one of the types.

Also when I check what has been using the battery there are not as many apps displayed, typically just 'Display' and 'Cell Standby' even though I have used the web browser, wifi and Angry Birds.
Maybe the battery needs recalibrating with the new firmware?
I bought a brand new Samsung Galaxy S on 8th October 2010 in Bangalore, India. two weeks later my screen developed a bright white line on the bottom. ( see pic attached ) I have not dropped or mishandled the phone in any way. I took it to the nearest samsung service centre... they told me that the display needs to be replaced ... They say that the phone display is out of stock and they dont know by when it will be available.
I feel really cheated ... after purchasing such an expensive phone one never expects it to malfunction in less than 2 weeks. And samsungs customer care reps very conveniently replied that they dont know when it will be in stock and to keep in touch via calls. So much for buying an amazing phone.
I'm trying to get Facebook profile pictures assigned to internal phone contacts, but cant get it to work. I installed the recently updated Facebook app, at the first launch it asked me if I want to sync my contacts, I selected Sync with exisiting contacts (later I selected Sync all since first option didnt work) but still profile pictures are not being fetched. I can now see facebook contacts in my main contact list, and I can link them with my phone contacts (manually), but profile picture is still blank. When I click the View profile (facebook) link of a particular contact I'm taken to my profile page instead of the person i clicked on. And when I select Edit and go to Facebook tab there is an error with an exclamation mark with the message "Unable to edit SNS contacts on phone".
View 3 Replies View RelatedNoticed yesterday that on the homescreen when the phone was locked that a missed call and voicemail notification appeared as pieces removed from a jigsaw overlay of the background homescreen image. Hadn't seen that before. Is that a default thing or can I change it (did look rather cool though). I usually use the pattern lock rather than the default swipe lock, so I'm wondering if it's to do with that default setting.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just switched from WebOS so I'm quite a noob to Android. Anyways, I bought a new Samsung Galaxy Nexus with Android 4.4.
Now to my issue: I like to watch video streams. The problem is, that the display will turn automatically off.
Solutions:
1. Play a stream with a video player - how can I do this?
2. Change settings so the display will not switch off on a stream, but will turn off when idle - is this even possible?
3. Turn off "turn off display when idle" setting - but I don't like this one.
just wondering if there is a widget similar to the HTC bookmarks widget that allows you to put shortcuts (i.e. games shortcuts) in instead of links to websites.. this way i can scroll through my games (since i have more than what can fit on one screen)
