The android contacts app seems to be made for non UK countrys as it does not have a region or postcode option in the address form it only has state and zipcode.
My question is how would I edit this?

I don't like Samsungs version of the lock-screen and would like to have the stock Android version where you can unlock and mute the device. Is it possible to change this with the Luncher Pro or any other program as well?

I was going to use some sort of film protector, such as Zagg invisible shield and a Flip Case. But the only flip case I can find for the Galaxy S looks horrid, and I am not sure on the texture of Zagg Invisible Shields.I have also considered silicone gel cases, but I am having trouble finding one that is nice, and pouches in combo with a screen protector.What would you use and if I did buy a screen protector, which brand should it be, I want one that will protect but with minimum difference to the feel or colour of the screen.
View 18 Replies View RelatedI am considering upgrading to the Galaxy from my Tattoo. The app I currently use the most is Aldiko. The much bigger screen on the Galaxy appeals to me. I went into a shop the other day to try out the Galaxy and had a quick look at Aldiko which comes pre-installed on it. I have the latest version but the one on the Galaxy appears to be an old/different version and did not seem as good as the version I. So my question is, can these pre-installed apps be completely removed (or upgraded from the market to the latest versions) or am I stuck with the pre-installed version forever (unless I root it).
View 2 Replies View RelatedThere is a new version of kies available 1.5.3.10093.31. I couldn't get it from the update within kies, so quite by accident I clicked on samsung widgets and it said I needed the latest version of kies, click ok to download. Am downloading right now and it's taking ages so haven't had a chance to see if its any better but will post back when I have had a chance to see. It has just finished installing and as soon as kies started it came up with a fatal error and closed down, so I think that just about says it all. Will report back later when I have had sometime to try and sort it out.

Following are my questions:
1. Right now I have about a thousand google contacts synced to my phone. I want to remove them at one go. I know how to disable them from being appearing in contact list, but I want to know if I can delete them without going to factory settings.
2. I am using three applications (a) Gmail (b) Contacts (3) MVOIP. I want to know if there is a way that following combination works:
a- Google contacts appear on Gmail app
b- Google contacts (with phone numbers) and normal phone contacts appear on "Contacts"
c- Google contacts (with phone numbers) and normal phone contacts appear on "MVOIP application".
I know how to do
(a) - By synchronising google contacts,
(b) - by choosing display options
(c) - I do not know how to handle this and I want help.
Tel me that is the latest version of the Froyo for the Galaxy S EU version ? I`m in Romania and updating with key`s doesn't work (tried absolutely everything!)

Unfortunately, the network appeared rumors that Samsung would indicate that the Galaxy will not be upgrading to the new OS 1.6, nor even to Eclair Donut 2.0. The news is also reflected in the information that we have in the office for several weeks. The thing is still not official and the hope remains. Probably will receive a further update for this device but always Cupcake 1.5. Can I use the International unlocked version on AT&T and get 3G coverage on ATT or do I need to have both bands 850 and 1900 in my area? I could wait for the AT&T version, but I am concerned that AT&T will change some of the features and cripple the phone. They have done this before.
I'm considering buying a Galaxy S, but I dont really like that touchwiz thingy. Is it possible to install a stock version of froyo on it?

Changes include a new tab called RAM. You can now clear up your RAM according to two levels. I recommend that you only use Level 1 since level 2 kills some essential apps (like your widgets), meaning that they have to be relaunched again, consuming power and CPU cycles.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn Google Contacts I've entered birthdays and subscribed to the "Contacts' birthdays and events" calendar in Google Calendar.They show up as intended in Google Calendar but in my phones calendar they're all listed twice. Unsubscribing from the contacts birthdays calendar makes both disappear, so they're not from some other calendar.Is this a bug in the Galaxy S calendar? Any solutions?

I've done restore, but then once my phone access the contact list again they are gone. I did not realize this after the first restore and now it's been too long (gmail only allows 29 days to restore) since I last restored to see any of the 100's of contacts I manually entered into Gmail!

I applied RyanZA's One Click Lag Fix a while ago which worked fine and more recently tried updating the registry hack a couple of weeks ago.
Currently the latest Kies xxxx100 says:

I never managed to complete the hack despite adjusting th PC's registry initially to the Scandi version.

I believe I uninstalled all the OCLF tools and then uninstalled the OCLF program itself.
I have an i9000M (Bell) Galaxy S that is unlocked. I have had different versions of Froyo on the phone in the last couple of months, Currently, I have JPO and it is working fine.
My first question is,
Is there a generic (Non Bell, Orange, Att, etc.) version of Android that works on any android phone? Also, what about a version that works on any brand of phone, sort of like WIndows on a PC. I know there are a sh*t load of different phones out there, but I was wondering if a generic version would work.

Can I flash a European version of Froyo onto my Canadian phone?
I have the bell i7500L and I am thinking of putting Galaxo 1.6.2 Does this version have any errors? no sleep probs? hows the battery life?

I read information on rooting your device, in which everything is explained very well, but could not find information on how to update once a device was rooted (probably I did not search in the right place). What I did so far is:
1) Taking backup of my pics (by manually drag and drop the folder on my pc), SMS and call logs (with sms backup + app), syncronized my contacts with gmail so that I can recover them later on and backup the music folder. I installed backup Titanium to back up my apps on my SD card.
1) Which most recent version of Android is supported on the device I have?
2) Is there important information that I forgot to back up?
3) Is there a guide with step by step procedure on which files I have to download on my pc and which procedure to follow?
- the antennae hump at the back. I don't like it, take it away. It doesn't lend itself to an ergonomical, comfortable grip, does it?
- the file system. As I gather, this is the reason we need lag fixes. I actually do wanna know though, what are the advantages of this file system?
- I hate saying this but: the looks. C'mon seriously? It looks too much like an iphone! Granted, the iphone is a good looking phone but if I didn't know better I would've thought this was a knock off.
the default labels "Family", "Coworkers", "Friends" are not included on my Samsung Galaxy => couldn't sync at all. Is the same happen to other phones? / raymond

Is this problem related to
1. Samsung ?
2. Android ?
3. Or my Mobile Carrier....which is Optus in Australia.
Please help, I tried to change from the Galaxy rom to the new 1.6 Take 5 tweak since I was sick of having no vibration. And now after I flashed it, it went to the Samsung bootup screen and now is black and cant be powered on. However my computer still detects it, please can somebody help salvage my phone.
