I have done just about everything I need on my phone except tethering. Since I only had Edge available, I had never bothered to look into tethering, but now that 3g is on the horizon for me (June rollout), I am looking to tether.
Now, I recall reading that tethering apps in the market are now blocked. If that is true, where would I go to find the tethering apps, which is the best out there, and how would I go about loading it onto my phone.
I did give PDA net a shot, but the auto installer will not load it onto my phone...

My company is looking at upgrading from WinMo Intrepids to possibly Android phones. We are with Sprint so only those phones are being looked at.Couple of questions from an enterprise mind.Android 2.2 updated exchange policy support so some of our concerns are being met.My biggest questions are relating to Sprint ID and the Android Market. One does anyone know if you can totally locked down Sprint ID? As in not allow other ones from being downloaded and installed. Basically to give us a way to lock the phone down with what apps we want.Next big thing is can the Android Market be locked down/Blocked/Removed?Remember these are going to be company phones mainly being used for exchange email, not personal phones to play around with eating up data.Generally just looking at ways to keep the phones secure from all the nasties out there. We are looking at the Optimus S which is why I bring up Sprint ID.For my side of it, I would generally be against this. I own an Evo and love tinkering plus I will be the one developing in house apps for us to use.

I'm rooted in a galaxy note 2 and am fed up of certain sites being blocked because they're behind an adfly site and similar. I don't have any ad blockers and have read is because of the host file. I can't seem to edit or delete it. How to edit system/ect/hosts file?

I've just noticed that the Android Market shows a blank page with the message 'No matching content in Android Market'. Yet when I go to specific sections of the Market or do a search, one is able to download and install applications and games just fine. I've only just noticed this happening in the last few days. I'm using an unlocked UK version Galaxy S but my location is Inner Mongolia, China. Would this have anything to do with Android Market not showing content on the front page? The S itself is loaded with Froyo, as downloaded from the XDA forums.

Does someone know what could be the reason why my application is not visible in the Android Market on the Samsung Galaxy sold by Bouygues Telecom in France? The app is copy-protected and compatible SDK 1.5.

I live off Old Winter Garden and Apopka Vineland and I was outside working on my car and noticed I had two bars of 4G on my phone.Awesome! I used the Speedtest.net app and tested at 2264k down and 886k up.I left it on and drove down to the WalMart by Health Central and picked up 3 bars briefly but didn't test the speed. What's sad though is I only get one bar of cell service in my house. I'll test out 4G inside when I get home.

My provider only permits me to connect to the internet via the web-browser. Only the web-browser works. I want to use the Android market, but it doesn't connect. Is there some sort of proxy I could use to get around this? I can connect to the market if I'm on my home WiFi, but not if I'm on my network GPRS.

I need to download the Quake II Demo Pak0.pak so I can put it in the quake 2 folder so I can play quake II on my phone. But no. My phone won't let me download anything through the browser. No matter what it is, or where it is, I can't access anything that starts with "FTP". Also, I can't access the megaupload download server, I can't download things from my email. I can't do any of that. When I use allftp and I put in an ftp site, it asks for a username and password even if the ftp is public. How can I download a freaking file?

I installed Galaxo 1.6.3.4 a couple of days ago and since I'm a happy person! It's really a different phone.
Today when reading an article on the new google maps innovation (Walking Navigation, Street View), which are available with Google Maps 4.5, I tried finding them on the market and couldn't. I then realized I can't see any paid apps on the market after my Galaxo installation.
(I also noticed that the Google maps version with galaxo is 3.3)
So I've got two questions:
1) How can I "free" my market?
2) How can I install Google Maps 4.5 with the two gadgets above?

I just installed Froyo in Kies. Everything went smoothly and the phone seems to work like a charm after installation. The only thing weird but not bad was that all the applications were in different order. BUT the first bad thing I noticed was that the Android Market application was gone! Is this normal? Can I get it back somehow?

I have been using a HTC Hero with all the tweaks etc on it. Now I bought a samsung Galaxy S from Dubai a few days ago. I was very disappointed to find that the android market is missing and the slide market is no match for it. Is there a solution for it? i presume rooting and the flashing a new rom might do the trick but is there a site with proper rooting instructions where they dont say do this step (d) without explaining steps(a,b &c). Without the market I would throw away the galaxy.

I've got a Samsung Galaxy S Advance which was from China. Its stock widgets and apps all support Chinese stuff like Weibo and are useless to me since I live in UK. I can't get Google Store / Android Market either - these aren't on the phone.
It's I9070, running 2.3.6. I downloaded 2.3.6 online and used Odin 1.38 a few times but it always went "FAIL!" on me.
how to get it to run like an european galaxy S?

When I try to backup using TB after the SRE I get a Warning that reads;
Your system settings will prevent you from restoring applications. To correct this, go to your phone's Settings, then in "Applications" and tick the "Unknown Sources" checkbox.
There is no such option....
When I run batch restore I get an "Install Blocked' message.
I get; For security, your phone is set to block installation of applications not sourced in Android market.
What is happening here?
I'm running JH7 with the SRE 1.3-Bloat version.

Now my phone won't turn on. The bar started going and then that error came up and it said to either debug, send error report or don't send. When I try to turn it on, it just shows a Samsung logo with a phone and a computer under it and a dotted line connecting between. In the middle of the line is an exclamation point! I just tried to download it again on a different computer and the same system error occurred! Why is this happening? I can't turn my phone on now but can enter download mode.

The Samsung i7500 Galaxy is, except the support from Samsung itself, a great Android smartphone with a very good (the best?) price for value. It's with 11,9mm the second slimmest Android phone after Nexus One with 11,5mm (right?) and has unlike the HTC phones a flash light and build in storage of 8GB. On most sites the Galaxy is (one of) the cheapest Android phones, I wonder if it's because Samsung is cheaper or HTC/Motorola more expensive by itself?
I personally would compare the i7500 with the HTC Hero, although in my opinion the i7500 still has a much better price for value.
Is it even possible to define if and which Android phone is a low, middle, or high-end smartphone?
Sure, it also depends for what purposes you bought and use your phone, but I still wonder were the i7500 would be if 1=low and 10=high end Android phone, and if there even is a number 10? I also think that the D-Pad is a big plus and not a minus in comparison to the scroll ball from HTC.

I just noticed while upgrading from the "pulled" 2.2 to the "official" 2.2 some of my purchased apps are no longer available from the market. Cannot be found at all. Someone said that Google has to approve every new ROM to get complete access to the market. I was just wondering if it is I who have the glitch or if anyone else has the same problems. I have heard from two other sources (in Sweden) who have the same issues.

I am having issues with the music player, the music was crackling badly, I thought it was the headphones so I tried 3 different pairs and the same thing happened, it kept stuttering in the middle of songs. I am not at all happy about that. My mp3 player worked perfectly with the same music files, they are WMP files not mp3 because to me mp3 sounds compressed to shit. I said to because the sound quality blows away any mp3 player and when it isn't stalling and breaking up. I am considering flashing with Odin today and swapping it for number 3. I have not spilled anything on my phone or dropped it, I am so careful with it and I am curious if anyone else has this problem or does mine have a defect. I love this phone and really want to stick with it. I would like to use it for music because the sound when working is amazing. If it is a defect in my phone I will swap for another.

However it shows up on my Market application ==> download section. It says "Purchased".
How do I remove this entry from that list while keeping the rest?
