Samsung Epic 4G : Can't Put SD Card To Phone / How To Fix?
Oct 19, 2010I upgraded from a Samsung Exclaim to a Epic via Sprint (Obviously, lol) I put the sd card from the old phone into the new one and put the pics onto my desktop. They're in a format called jpg.md I can't put them on the new phone. I've googled, and contacted Samsung, neither of which has helped. Any suggestions?

Nov 15, 2010I have been mounting my phone with my pc for quite awhile, then one day, it decided to be difficult. At first it took a couple, replugs to get it to recognize the SD card. Then, It stopped recognizing it at all. Depending on what USB port I use, I get different results from I/O error, to device not recognized.
Things I have tried:
-Every driver known to mankind.
-Plugging in every single usb port on the computer (including mobo)
-Disconnecting every usb device except for the phone
-Formatting the SD card (lost my photos forgot they were on there)
-Only used STOCK cable.
I'm out of ideas, and sprint claims this is not a problem with the phone on all the forum posts I've seen with similar problems. Has anyone actually found a solution for this other than thinking plugging it in the back of the computer actually fixes anything?

Nov 12, 2010I know that you can hold the home button down and wait for the list of recently used apps to come up - but for some reason, the second or so that it takes for the long press drives me crazy! Is there a way to make a screen icon that will take you to your recent apps? I would rather not install a whole new launcher to get this option - so are there any lightweight ones that do just that?

Sep 7, 2010Has anyone figured out how to access your MS Exchange company directory on the Epic? My co-worker who has an Evo is able to when he goes to compose a new message, he has the option to search the company directory. But I do not on the Epic.

Nov 9, 2010So I've been running without 3G (disabling it with the Quick Settings app) for the great battery savings. However, in the past few weeks, I've lost 3G altogether even when I re-enable it. I've tried updating the profile & PRL, no luck. Any ideas? Hoping to not have to do a full phone wipe.

Sep 8, 2010I am on the Epic 4g using the default YouTube app that came with the Epic 4g and I get an error every time I try to access my linked YouTube account. I have attached the screenshot of the error. This happens after going into the YouTube app, selecting "My account" then selecting my account from the "YouTube accounts" pop up. It will freeze for a while then I get the error in the screenshot.
I've even tried the HQ YouTube app found here: http://forum.androidcentral.com/android-applications/13492-evo-youtube-apk-works-droid-nexus-incredible.html
And taking the same steps as above it does the freezes but this time doesn't bring up that same error (I waited a couple minutes).
By the way, this is the stock ROM and I am not rooted.

Sep 25, 2010My friend's Epic/PC will not pick up his micro SD card. I told him to try what it said in the manual to reformat it, but the problem is that the phone will not even read the card in the first place. Do you think the card has died already?

Oct 14, 2010I just pulled my phone from my pocket and it was frozen so I pulled battery and restarted it. The SD card format was unrecognized. I stuck it in a card reader and it wouldn't show up on my pc. I stuck a different card in my phone and it is fine. I called Sprint and the card is not covered by warranty. The warranties are device specific and Samsung does not feel that they need to cover them. I was lucky that the Sprint store did replace my card with a Sandisk card. I have numerous Microsd cards. They all came with a lifetime warranty. Samsung fails on this note. I still love this phone.

Sep 5, 2010I finally got around transferring my 32Gig card out of my Evo and into the Epic. After I put it in I decided to clean it and reformat it in the Epic. Epic starts the format then comes up with a message "card damaged cant format". I put the same card in the Evo and it formatted just fine and then worked in the Epic. Then I tried to format it again in the Epic and again I get the card damaged pop up. Again it reformatted just fine in the Evo. Any ideas anyone else get this message? Just to add I tried to format a smaller card in the Epic and it was able to format that fine. Once the 32gig card is formatted in the Evo it will work fine in the Epic.

Oct 13, 2010well I know I took pictures and I can see them using the USB cable but when I open the gallery it tells me there is nothing there.I also get a message about no SD card detected even though its there and I can see it just fine if I go into the SD card menu in the settings menu and also if it is plugged into a computer also there are pictures that I took today that arent even showing up when I plug it into the computer.I cant even read my SD card if I take it out and put it into that adapter it came with but plugging the phone into USB I can read the SD card thats in there - or I can see some pictures that I have taken

Nov 4, 2010I've tried both the manual method as well as the Easy, one-click, auto root out there, but I can't get root to take on this device. I think I'm probably overlooking something simple. What I need to know is. Well, everything from start to finish. When I connect to my PC, I have enabled USB debugging. Should I allow the SD card to mount or keep is in "charging" mode? I have experience with the manual methods where you access ADB Shell and copy/paste commands. That's how I rooted my Hero. But I think the connection is not right somehow. I'm seeing a lot of failure messages.

Oct 30, 2010Is anyone else experiencing problems downloading and running apps from the market due to low memory issues? Why did they only put 512MB of internal memory for app storage on this Epic when the AT&T galaxy version got 8GB of internal memory in addition to the 16GB micro Sd card???
My memory is full now, and without android 2.2 I can't move apps to the SD card. They should have provided all of their galaxy class phones with the 8GB internal memory.
Samsung Captivate :: External SD Card Access & Ringtones
Jul 27, 2010I just got my Captivate this past weekend and love it so far. I came over from the HTC Aria so I am a little Android savvy. Question is this. I put a 2GB SD card in my Captivate and want to set one of the songs on it as a ringtone. I would also like for the external SD to be the default location for pictures when I take them. Thirdly, I want to access the external SD card when I connect my phone to the PC via the USB cable, but for the life of me, these 3 issues I cant seem to resolve and they were cake on the HTC.

Feb 14, 2010First post. I've looked up this topic so as to try to avoid posting a duplicate, however I can't seem to get the specific answer I'm looking for even still. Been trying to figure out how to do this all day now and have a headache, so please forgive my aggravation. All I am trying to do is store a picture for each contact on my contact list. I can only find pictures stored taken directly from my phone camera. I cannot find any pictures stored on my SD card. Now, before I am told I need to hook up my Moment to a computer with the USB cable, every time I do that all that happens is the phone charges and neither the computer nor the phone recognize each other. I tried saving pictures and e-mailing them to myself, where I then tried saving them to the phone and the only way I could do that was through the SD card. I do not even know how to physically remove or add the SD card as there does not seem to be any openings on the phone itself for it. My laptop runs Windows XP. My question is: How do I access the saved pictures on my SD card AND how do I get my computer to recognize my phone if I need to use it to do this?

Aug 27, 2010I just got my eris yesterday since I don't have a NE2 available and I wanted to get away from WinMo, in any case, I can't access my SD card from my Eris. I downloaded Astro Manager, went to sd card, it says it is empty. I connected my phone to my PC via USB, mounted it as a drive, and I can access the SD card and contents without a problem. I can even use the photo album on the phone to look at pictures that are on the card.
When I go to settings > sd card and phone storage it displays total space and available space as being unavailable and the option to unmount the sd card is grayed out. Pressing the menu button on this screen doesn't do anything. Running 2.1, not rooted. I not interested in rooting the phone since I don't need the WiFi tethering and the stock apps aren't bothering me. The phone was connected to the PC and mounted. I couldn't see the card from the phone when it was mounted to the PC. Why?

It recognizes that I have it plugged in and it charges, but I can't access any of my phone files. I was able to do this 5 hours ago and since I've had this phone, this has never happened before.
