Oct 12, 2010Does anybody have the new updated market application?
View 18 RepliesDoes anybody have the new updated market application?
View 18 RepliesBesides not having "updated market envy"? (waiting diligently for that update to happen) I am finding that I do not get notifications that there are updates for my installed apps unless I download a new app from the market. Is there a setting that I missed?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI set up my corp exchange email account and the email part of it works flawlessly. The calendar on the other hand is very quirky. On the first Sync I noticed that not ALL appointments were brought over from my Outlook Calendar. Upon researching it seems that the meetings not coming over are all recurring meetings. Some were from other people that I was invited too but most were recurring meetings I had created on my own calendar.
I did some testing to isolate the behavior:
Create single appointment in Outlook
It shows up perfectly on the Fascinate.
In outlook change the appointment to recur monthly
Appointment vanishes from Fascinate.
Remove recurrence from appointment in Outlook
It comes back to Fascinate.
The same behavior can be seen when creating a fresh appointment with recurrence. The problem seems to be isolated also to recurrence set for the "every third wednesday" or something similar. It works for monthly on the 20th for instance.
Firmware version is: 2.1-Update1
Build: SCH-I500.DI01 (downloaded today and did not correct sync issue)
Well my phone has an option to update all my applications but my wifes does not. Wonder why there is a difference and how to set hers to update all?
View 8 Replies View RelatedReset my phone about an hour ago and haven't been able to d/l anything since. About to call Verizon. Ok, just noticed the similar threads above mine.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm rooted and just flashed Super Clean rom from Rom Manager. When I go to update current apps or download new ones, it says "Starting download..." and never stops! After looking this problem up and reading other people's posts who have had similar problems, I've tried clearing all cache and data related to any Google-based app. I've done multiple nandroid backups over the past few weeks and have tried restoring back to them. I've tried factory data reset both from Settings-->Privacy and also from recovery mode in CWM. I'm out of ideas.
View 18 Replies View RelatedI don't remember ever seeing any Market app update notices on the Fascinate, though I have found several updates now when I go to Market, Downloads. Have you been getting notices?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThere have been numerous treads over the last week wrt Android Market issues.
I have tried all the 'fixes' mentioned, and I still am not able to download apps from Android Market ('download was unsuccessful').
Anyone else still having this problem? It is getting highly annoying.
I just got a BOGO with my wife for the Facinate. I switch from a fully rooted/ROMed Incredible. On both our phones, the Market loads and searches VERY slow on WiFi and 3G. My Incrediable loads/searches almost instantly while the Fasinate takes...3, 4, 5,..., 10secs at times. Downloads are slow too.
View 8 Replies View RelatedFor those of you who have now gotten your phones and upgraded from another android phone - did you sign in to the market/configure the phone with same Gmail account? And what I really want to know - did your previously installed apps (both free and paid) automatically download?
View 6 Replies View RelatedIf I've got a non-market app installed can I later upgrade with a market version if they're signed with same cert? (Figuring out pre-release builds etc)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed the application Fast Reboot the other day and it works great except after using it I found it caused my in call screen to only stay lit for 2 seconds at a time unable to punch keypad without hitting unlock button every 2 seconds. Anyone else having this issue?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen you click applications button, you will see all the applications icons. I like this icons better than home screen icons because it looks bigger and feel more comfortable when I look at it. Well, yes it looks like iphone screen.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMaybe a dumb question but I have 47 updates and just want to have them all update.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've updated (uploaded a new version) of my app, TimeTracker, twice in the past couple of months, and in both cases, the new upload has not shown up in the "by date" sorted list of the Market app. When I search for the app, I see the correct version in the Market, and I can find it in the correct category by scrolling down; it is just that the updates aren't being correctly sorted.

Here is the logcat...
I did a reset on my BH II and now when I go to the market the Phonebook app by Voxmobili is not there. I have tried a number of different searches for it and it is just not coming up.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI think I deleted my android market when I click the icon message comes up and says app not installed on this phone. Do I need to do a reset or can I download it some where noticed it after I updated some of my apps.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy internal memory is almost full (no surprise) so I was hoping for a way to move my downloaded market apps to the SD card. I was told to try AppMonster, which has an option to Backup to SD. I do this and it says it's successful but my internal memory isn't going down. Does this just copy the files there as opposed to move them there? If so, is the another way/app to move the files?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter flashing Froyo on my GS, the Market app has disappeared. Am I the only one having this problem? Is there anyway to download/install manually the Market app on my GS?
View 4 Replies View RelatedFirst of all congratulations everybody. I am soooo excited for each and every one of you. Seriously, I have a big smile on my face because I know that excitement, that joy you all are feeling. You won't be putting your phone down for days, I GUARANTEE IT! You guys seriously just purchased the most kick ass Android device, along with the rest of the Galaxy S phones!
The Vibrant and Captivate users are watching closely. Samsung has promised us a GPS optimization, and presumably your Epic and now Fascinate already has it. So you guys are our life line right now.
For those of you who will be testing out your GPS in the next few days, I'd like to make a few comments, so that we can get accurate GPS testing, to determine if the phone is actually using satellites like it should, or depends instead heavily on less accurate cell phone towers to determine your location, which means the GPS is still busted on these phones.
Okay, so here it goes. When testing your GPS, "Use Wireless Locations" should be turned off. Settings>location & security>Use wireless networks...make sure its UNCHECKED.
Read the note right under it, it says "See location in applications(such as Maps) using wireless networks."
If you put a check mark next to this, and turn this ON, then how will you ever know if the phone is functionally using the satellites. This is the big question with the phone, can it use and lock onto satellites or is Samsung hoping we use less accurate cell towers. Samsung hopes you have this on. I ask that you keep this unchecked, this is the only way to truly test the Satellite usage.
Further, by checking this, you are allowing Google to collect location data, even when no applications are running, they say its anonymous, but you never know.
So uncheck "Use Wireless Networks," restart your phone, make sure this is still unchecked, power up Google Maps, and go for a good long drive. Then please share your real world results. Including, how quickly it located you, was the location correct, how wide of a blue circle is there around your location, did the phone ever drop the GPS signal, etc. No 2 min drives, you really need to drive around a lot to dependably test this.
You can also download "GPS Test" from the Android Market, it will show you how many satellites your phone views, versus how many satellites are locked in. You need 4 LOCKED on satellites to get a true 3D positional lock that includes x,y,z,t. GPS test also shows your accuracy in ft, up in the upper right corner. Good accuracy is anything less than 10 ft. I have phones that get 5ft accuracy, the best accuracy I can get with my Vibrant is 40ft. Please report this number also. If you have time, upload a screen shot of your GPS test, or just take a pic of your phone running the GPS test, upload it and share your results.
You can also use the built in native GPS test. It is virtually the same as the GPS TEST program above, it's just not a pretty visual interface.
Go to your phones dialer, as if you are making a phone call, and dial in *#1472365# or if that doesn't work try *#*#1472365#*#*Then click on "get position test."
This test will show you your longitude and latitude, you can then enter this into Google maps to see how accurately it located you. It gives you accuracy in meters, convert to feet by multiplying the number given in meters by 3.28, you will now have your accuracy in ft.
The native built in test will show you have many satellites it has in view, the satellites that it actually locks onto will have an asterisk next to it. Please report both these numbers. Remember you need 4 locked on satellites for true precise 3D positioning.
I'm really interested to hear from prior smart-phone Android users, because these users will be able to make a direct comparison of the GPS to prior phones.
Just found the stock /System dump, which includes all the apps/APKs that come with a stock Samsung Fascinate.
*This is useful for those who accidently deleted bloatware, but still want a backup for future use (i.e. for updates).

I have a rooted Fascinate. Using ES file explorer I was able to view system folders and found the system media files containing ringtones, notification tone, etc. However, I can not edit the files there or paste new files in there. I cannot find the system folder when I connect the fascinate to a computer. I tried showing "hidden files" but the folders still would not show up.
What I want to do is add my downloaded ringtones into the system media folder so that I can use those ringtones without having those ringtones appear in my music player. Another post tried to deal with this issue of the music player recognizing ringtones and notification tones, but no one could provide an actual solution to the problem. If I could move ringtones from the media folder on the SD to card to the media folder in the system folder, this would solve the problem.
Can anybody access the system folders in a manner that I can add files to the folders.
EDITED: PROBLEM SOLVED.
With the help given below, I came up with a solution, and have pasted instructions directly below.
Here are the steps I did in case any one else is interested.
Once your phone is rooted, it's pretty simple.
1)Download Root Explorer from the Market. Root explorer will give you the ability to edit folders/files that normally can't be edited, ie read and write permission as opposed to read only.
2)Using Root Explorer (make sure in top left of program it says "mounted as r/w"), copy any ringtone, notification file, .ogg file, .mp3 file, etc that you have made or downloaded, by selecting sdcard folder and navigating to the location of your tones, long pressing the file of interest, and select copy. (You can even long press on the folder and copy the whole folder of tones).
3)Still using Root Explorer, back out of the SD folder, and find the folder called "system". Navigate to system/media/audio/"ringtones" or "notifications" . Click the paste button at the bottom of the screen (which should have appeared as soon as you copied your file/folder). The file/folder will now be in your system's tone folder.
4)You must power down and power back up your phone before the phone will recognize these newly added tones.
5)Either delete the tone files from your SD card, or put a .nomedia file into the folder to remove them from the SF's media player.
Has any one try sending photos via email with out hanging in the sending folder? It only sends them when I do a battery pull and once in a wile it will send.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI downloaded wireless tether, the newest version and the two previous versions. I install the apk using the fascinates file manager. The program appears to run fine on the phone, and says 0.4kb download and .1kb upload. I've used two different laptops, one with windows 7, and one with XP to try to connect to the phone. I can find Android Tether as an available network for both computers. However, when I click to connect, both computers cannot connect. When I perform a diagnostic test, windows reports there is a problem with the access point, but cannot fix it.

View 26 Replies View RelatedFor everyone who has questions regarding the quality of the Fascinate's camera, I propose this thread be sticky'd so that everyone has one thread to view and/or admire the quality of the shots from various forum members. These shots have to be unprocessed though! Be honest.I'm an avid photographer who loves his Fascinate and all the tricks it can do. I thought of something on the drive home last night, and this is my first contribution. The quality is pretty damn good, not too much noise considering the picture was taken in the dark. I loved how the picture came out. I'll try getting a broader sweep of the needle next time, but that involves revving the car.For those of you who want similar shots, place the camera into night shot mode. This involves a very very steady hand, or a nice stable surface. From a few trial shots, the camera's shutter speed in night shot mode is still pretty fast from what I saw. If you want similar effects like the photo below, I suggest taking the picture right before the action you want happens. Granted, that is no easy task sometimes.
This picture is another one of my favorite shots. The camera happened to set the shutter speed perfectly for a rolling shot. This was taken behind my window, so the quality isn't as good as could be. I'm extremely happy with the shot though.Oh and as a disclaimer, both pictures have been compressed due to Facebook's uploader The actual file looks much nicer IMHO of course
