I want to switch from raptor back to velocity .3. except that after putting raptor on i downloaded a new kernel. Can I put velocity on with the kernel I have now or do I have to change it to one from the velocity post? and if I do have to change it, do I change it before or after changing the rom to velocity?

Ok, the family has Allys I am trying to convince them to let me flash Velocity to their phones, But they think I will kill their phones. Would there be a good noticeable speed difference, Battery life? Any other odd perks I can use to convince them?
Cause they are always complaining about how it is slow.
I can't seem to figure out if it's possible to switch back to CWM from drelisdee's amon_ra custom recovery. I assumed it would be as simple as to "flash" recovery from within ROM manager, and it would switch back, but apparently I was wrong since I can't seem to get it to reboot into clockworkmod's recovery interface.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy LG Ally is stuck at the "VELOCITY" boot screen and is stuck in a loop. I had Velocity 0.3 flashed yesterday and I decided to re-flash today. I have tried wiping data/files/cache/dalvik cache. I'm stuck and I don't know what to do. Also I never did a Nandroid backup (because I'm slow).

When I look in the market, there are TONS of them and most of them only make the touch screen turn bright.P.S. I did have Velocity 0.3, but went back to just a stock rom with Universal Androot. Google maps, which I actually use a lot, was being very slow and buggy for me.

Its basically only an edit of the status bar, battery icon, browser background, and for no reason what so ever made the gtalk icon grey scale.Like I said, testing the waters here and only did a tiny bit of modifying. When Velocity 0.2 comes out I will be making a more detailed theme. This is just something to throw on your rom while you wait.Note: This will not completely replace your current theme if you have one. This theme will work best when installed on the stock theme.Beautiful Widgets and launcherpro not included.
View 8 Replies View RelatedSo with 2 ROM's out now everybody want's to know the "under-the-hood" benefits of both ROM's. Both Velocity and Raptor report 6.8 MFLOPS with Linpack, no OC, just the Turbo. Testing battery on both, will let you guys know tomorrow.

My opinion: In my opinion Velocity is snappier but I'll post more on this by tomorrow so check back!
I have the haptic feedback enabled and it works for everything that I have used except the virtual keyboard.
I'm wondering if anyone else has this issue. I have the OC kernel as well set at 729/245.
I have my lg Ally with the new Jit kernel (Thanks Drellisdee), with Velocity 0.2 (Thanks Trident) and am overclocking at 768 mhz. I want to apply the new update, VZB, and then put velocity and the jit kernel back. So my thoughts are that I would have to...
1.) Backup rom/Apps/Data (Titanium Backup/ROM Manager)
2.) Go into Recovery (Clockworkmod) and make a nendroid backup.
3.) Wipe Dalvik, data, and cache.
4.) Install vzb via Drellisdee's rooted update (After i check md5)
5.) Then Apply Velocity 0.2
6.) Apply the kernel
7.) Restore data from titanium backup...
Is this what I would do? What about the ally's unofficial "V9" update that has to be installed manually... Is that worth it or should I just do VZB?
Also, do I need to go to a stock rom proior to the update?
I'm trying to figure out how to get Velocity on my LG Ally, and I was wondering if anyone could help me out. Could someone post a link for instructions?

Everything works quite awesome, but I'm not getting my notification sound when I get a text message. I do get it for other notification events, and I've tried a couple different sounds just for good measure. Is this a ROM issue? An issue with my phone? Anyone else experiencing it? Right now I'm using the default messaging app.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a copy of the Google Genie APK that has transparancy and was previously using it. Velocity 0.3 has the Genie widget (was it in 0.2 as well...don't recall) and I've tried removing it via a script in the terminal emulator. Removed fine, but I cannot install the APK I have for some reason. Simply comes up with the error "Application not installed". When I do attempt to install the APK, a message comes up saying that "The application you are installing will replace another application". I know that the file versions are different as well. Love the transparent widget.

I am using velocity .2 and clockwork mod recovery. I am getting a system update notification, Update now/Later, etc. What do I do? I have 4 things set up in locale
1) turn on silent when at work
2) turn on Wi-fi when at home
3) turn on silent 6:30PM to 7:30PM (when getting my son to bed)
4) turn on silent 11PM to 8AM (so no emails are waking me!) number 2 works fine, the problem however is with the silent ones, ALL of them never go back to the default (ringer at full volume) when the time is up or when I'm away from the location. any ideas? I don't have GPS on, but the distance from home to work is large so it can't think I'm still anywhere near there plus that won't affect the time related ones.
I'm a noob to the whole smartphone with data thing. Is it normal for my phone to switch in and out of 3G in an area that the verizon map shows as being a 3G area? At home I seem to stay on the 3G fairly constantly, but at work (which is at the edge of coverage) and especially while driving I seem to drop 3G quite a bit. It makes playing Slacker in the car not worth while. Just wondering if this is "just the way it is" or if I may have an issue.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had updated my DX to 2.2 a few weeks ago without rooting and DESPISE the new Swype keyboard in 2.2. It's smaller, white, and doesn't seem to work as well as the one installed on 2.1 on the DX which is black and seemed to have bigger keys to Swype to on the keyboard. How can I revert back to the old Swype keyboard that I had on 2.1 but keep 2.2 installed? I was told to move the Swype.apk file from 2.1 to the system/app directory in addition to the old lib file to the lib directory and then reboot the phone. The only problem is when I try to paste those files over, it won't let me. I'm guessing I need to be rooted to have access to those directories? What's the easiest way to root a 2.2 Droid X? Also, I was told the files need to be given special permissions. Is there an easier way to install the Swype from the DX running 2.1 onto a DX running the first leak of 2.2 for the DX?
