Here's the task.. when I'm sleeping I want my phone to shut up. But.. I still want ONLY the alarm. Is that possible? My old phone had an 'alarm only' setting. Any such luck?

Used the search feature to no avail. The stock calendar app is not honoring any of my alarms/reminders setup in my Google calendar. I installed Gemini, and turned on the Notifications, but it tells me to disable any other notifications. Problem is, I can't find an option to do that anywhere.Long story short, if anyone knows of ANY calendar app for the Fascinate that will honor alarms/reminders, please let me know. I am in desperate need of one.

I have tried a couple of free apps for alarm clock, but so far they all have too many quirks.

Last night was my first night with it and I put it in alarm clock mode, but the screen would time out with in a minute and wont stay illuminated. Am I missing something here?

I like my palm pre because of the webos, but i really really hate the keyboard and some other minor annoyances.
I had an eris before and it was ok. i still have it and use it mostly as a kindle for reading in bed at night.
Here are my questions:
1 - on the Eris, my main complaint is that when reading on the Kindle app in the dark, the soft keys light up and are really bright. is there some sort of patch or something that i can use so that that doesn't happen on the fascinate?
2 - alarm clock - the palm pre plus does not have a separate volume for the ringer and the alarm. if i set the alarm, i have to be prepared for any other notifications to come thru as well. on the fascinate, is there the ability to silence everything BUT the alarm clock?
3 - GPS - i use google maps a lot and go to big cities on the East Coast frequently. some of the droid x/fascinate threads say the fascinate gps is laggy/inaccurate. has this been the experience of users in ny/dc/baltimore/philly? i know that in my mostly podunk town, gps can be off by quite a bit, but much more accurate in larger cities. not sure of the technicalities behind GPS so maybe it's just my imagination.
I just got my captivate about a week ago and have been having issues with my alarm clock. I set my alarm to wake me up every morning. Some mornings I am up before the alarm goes off so I turn it off, or atleast I think I turn it off. When the alarm is on I see the clock in the notification bar. So when I wake up I click the clock icon and turn off the alarm. I no longer see the icon on the notification bar but the alarm seems to go off anyway. The repeat for the alarm is set at "once". I just go in every night and turn it on. It just seems to go off anyway even when it is turned off earlier in the morning.ks

It seems to happen when I get new notifications. I can see it happen maybe 50% of the time when i get a text, but have seen it other times just disappear when going into email or something. I can always get it back just by opening the alarm program i'm using.
I have seen this happen with the stock moment alarm and gentle alarm. Klaxon will disappear for a moment and re-appear at times when others would have probably disappeared.
For txt i'm using the application the moment came with. using gmail and moxier. not too much notification add-ons minus that except craigsnotifica.
any thoughts? i talked with the developer for gentle alarm and he couldn't reproduce it...
Okay. So i thought i could survive without the LED notification. But....i cant. Its killing me not being able to glance at my phone and know if i have missed something. Does anyone have any suggestions whatsoever on a good notification app or something?
View 37 Replies View RelatedI just started noticing this yesterday, and it's bugging the crap out of me now.
Essentially, this is what's happening.
I'll get a text, and in the notification bar where it shows the preview of a text, it'll say "Sarah Klein hey what's up?"
So then I'll pull down the notification area and in that it will again say "Sarah Klein hey what's up?"
Then I'll open the text.. and it's actually from another person! So the notification bar will say one name, but when I open the text, it goes into the actual person's sms thread. This has happened 4 times in the past day now that I've noticed. Has anyone else had this happen?
With Text Messages (SMS) -
Is there a way to either:
a) set the native text appl so that there is no content preview in the notification bar, or
b) with Handcent still have the special puzzle piece show up on your lock screen when you have a new text message?
I really liked how that puzzle piece showed up but now it is gone and I suspect it is ever since I installed Handcent and I don't know how to get it back.
Follow up question -- if I go back to the native text app, is there a way to increase the font size of incoming and outgoing messages? I don't want to have to put my reading glasses on everytime I get a text.
So, is there really no way to set the native messaging app so that it WON'T show a preview of a text message in the notification bar?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI bit the bullet today and got a Fascinate. When I was playing around with the Captivate at the store I noticed the shortcuts when you pull down the notification bar, the ones at the store were silent, vib only, etc.
Now that I'm playing around with the Fascinate I find that its shorcuts are BT, WiFi, etc. Is there a way to change the shortcuts that are displayed when you pull down the notification bar? I can't seem to figure out how to do it.
A puzzle piece does not show up on my unlock screen for new email. I only get it for text messages.

I often keep my phone on silent so I don't always notice texts. My old phone had the LED light to notify me, and before that I had an iPhone which would flash the display with a notice about the missed text/call.
I'm aware of NoLED, but I tried it and wasn't a fan, the icons are annoying. Plus it seems like it would take up battery.
Probably a stupid question but where do I go in the phone menu to turn off Vibrate when a New SMS comes in?

I'm sure I'm missing something stupid. I've turned off notifications in the stock Messaging app (I'm pretty sure). And those look different (they have the green text bubble as the icon). Can anyone clue me in as to what that 2nd notification is below the blue Handcent icon? And can I get rid of it? I'd like to keep the text messages private is why I ask - I have Handcent and the stock Messages under App Protector. And I have Handcent's option checked to not show messages in the bar, just the notification.

I left my daughter sitting at school for 30mins the other night since I didn't see the message until I hung up from my voice call! View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm developing an media player application for Android, for which I need to handle any Alarm notification, and based on that I'll pause my playback. When the Alarm in snoozed or dismissed, I'll then resume the playback.
I googled a lot for the Alarm handling, but what I found was the way to enable Alarm notifications through code, set the intent and then handle it. However, no where could I locate just handling the Alarm notification part. I don't need to set the Alarm on, it could've been set by the user, and I don't need to programmatically. All I need is just handle that notification.
Is there any app that lets you set an alarm to go off when you get a notification (such as an e-mail or text). I don't get many text at night, so those that I do I would like to see. An alarm isn't necessarily what I need, but I need something to notify me more that once. This is the one thing I miss from my RAZR.
