I'm trying to find out what I have to do to change my notification tone. I don't want one of the standard tones, So I'm trying to find a way to change em for tones I made with ringdroid.

I have looked through the forums but couldn't spot anything for this one so here goes... Is there any way to use a custom sound as your notification tone? I cant for the life of me seem to work out how to do it unless im missing something really obvious! I downloaded the "you've got mail" wav and transfered it to my Magic but after that i'm stuck!

I have downloaded a notification tone that I wish to use for incoming text, in the notification tones there are a selection of tones but I would like to add this one to the list. I've tried moving the file using the move command and also tried with the copy and paste function with Astro file manager but I cannot move or paste when I navigate to the sys/media/notification folder as these options are greyed out?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm on my 2nd captivate and both of these bugs have happened on both phones.
First being the backlight remaining on unless I lock the phone manually. This will happen even with the backlight auto turn off set to 30 seconds. This has happened a handful of times, and I can make the backlight turn off if I want by using the lock key, but it will never auto turn off. This is fixed by power cycling the phone.
Second, my notification volume. I've noticed a few times that I'll have a text or something waiting on my phone for which I didn't hear the notification tone. When I go to the phones settings I find that the notification volume is down around 25% instead of the 75% or so I keep it set at. This seems to happen randomly.
Okay. So i thought i could survive without the LED notification. But....i cant. Its killing me not being able to glance at my phone and know if i have missed something. Does anyone have any suggestions whatsoever on a good notification app or something?
View 37 Replies View RelatedI just started noticing this yesterday, and it's bugging the crap out of me now.
Essentially, this is what's happening.
I'll get a text, and in the notification bar where it shows the preview of a text, it'll say "Sarah Klein hey what's up?"
So then I'll pull down the notification area and in that it will again say "Sarah Klein hey what's up?"
Then I'll open the text.. and it's actually from another person! So the notification bar will say one name, but when I open the text, it goes into the actual person's sms thread. This has happened 4 times in the past day now that I've noticed. Has anyone else had this happen?
Vibrant can customize notification tone? any idea? how?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a fascinate today and it's pretty solid, however I noticed that when I try to set a custom picture for the background, it won't let me select the whole picture and it zooms in ridiculously too much. Now, I've tried almost everything, but nothing seems to work. Can anyone help me?Oh, if you have the fascinate, download handscent for messaging. I had a blackberry before the fascinate and it's similar to the crunch sms for blackberry. It's convenient because it allows you to customize the length of the vibrations and led lights, but the fascinate doesn't seem to have led light capability. It also allows you to customize the bubbles a well as the colors per contact and all that. Definitely something to look into.

Is there a way to either:
a) set the native text appl so that there is no content preview in the notification bar, or
b) with Handcent still have the special puzzle piece show up on your lock screen when you have a new text message?
I really liked how that puzzle piece showed up but now it is gone and I suspect it is ever since I installed Handcent and I don't know how to get it back.
Follow up question -- if I go back to the native text app, is there a way to increase the font size of incoming and outgoing messages? I don't want to have to put my reading glasses on everytime I get a text.
So, is there really no way to set the native messaging app so that it WON'T show a preview of a text message in the notification bar?

I installed Gemini, and turned on the Notifications, but it tells me to disable any other notifications. Problem is, I can't find an option to do that anywhere.Long story short, if anyone knows of ANY calendar app for the Fascinate that will honor alarms/reminders, please let me know. View 1 Replies View RelatedI bit the bullet today and got a Fascinate. When I was playing around with the Captivate at the store I noticed the shortcuts when you pull down the notification bar, the ones at the store were silent, vib only, etc.
Now that I'm playing around with the Fascinate I find that its shorcuts are BT, WiFi, etc. Is there a way to change the shortcuts that are displayed when you pull down the notification bar? I can't seem to figure out how to do it.

I often keep my phone on silent so I don't always notice texts. My old phone had the LED light to notify me, and before that I had an iPhone which would flash the display with a notice about the missed text/call.
I'm aware of NoLED, but I tried it and wasn't a fan, the icons are annoying. Plus it seems like it would take up battery.
Probably a stupid question but where do I go in the phone menu to turn off Vibrate when a New SMS comes in?

I'm sure I'm missing something stupid. I've turned off notifications in the stock Messaging app (I'm pretty sure). And those look different (they have the green text bubble as the icon). Can anyone clue me in as to what that 2nd notification is below the blue Handcent icon? And can I get rid of it? I'd like to keep the text messages private is why I ask - I have Handcent and the stock Messages under App Protector. And I have Handcent's option checked to not show messages in the bar, just the notification.

I left my daughter sitting at school for 30mins the other night since I didn't see the message until I hung up from my voice call!
