View 3 RepliesMine didn't? But my Blackberry did.
View 21 Replies View RelatedHow do you change the four icons at the bottom of the screen (by default, Phone, Contacts, Messaging, and Applications).I seem to recall only the middle two can be changed, but I can't remember how to do it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHas anyone noticed since 2.0.1 update that when you wake the phone up and don't unlock it the screen will go back to sleep much faster than it normally would if unlocked?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI was playing around with my Nexus phone last week when I first got it. I was messing the screen sleep settings. I could have sworn there was option either associated with that or somewhere in the settings where it asked you how long it would take for the phone to lock the screen after it went to sleep.
OS = Jelly Bean
Is there any other way to take the phone out of sleep mode, other than pressing the power button? I find myself taking it out of sleep a bunch of times per day, and I just worry about how long the dinky power button will last being pressed all the time. I know its probably neurotic to worry about such things, but I just wanted to not send my fascinating Fascinate to an early grave because of some dumb button
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm searching around Market and getting no results. Any apps or root hacks to map any soft key to put the Fascinate to sleep?
View 14 Replies View RelatedUntil yesterday if I had an app like Pandora or ESPN Radio playing/running when the screen kicked off the app would keep playing. However, now when the phone goes to sleep everything else gets shut off. I have not altered anything myself per se. Even uninstalled a few apps like AutoKiller [which I had installed for weeks and everything worked fine with it on and installed] but the problem persists and remains. This really perplexes me as I want/need these apps to play with the screen off like they did before. For the life of me I don't know why this is; nor can I find anything in settings to change.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was having the waketime/sleeptime problem that many, many folks have reported and my battery life was obviously crap...and took forever to charge as has also been noted. I had already turned off all the auto-update stuff that I did when I first got the phone. Then I read the many posts abut Facebook app being the problem, but when I tried that it turned out that I was still running the old version 1.2, so apparently that wasnt causing it on my Evo.
Not really wanting to do a factory reset, I thought I'd check for other app updates in case one of the other apps had 2.2 bug fixes. Ran a sync thru the AppBrain app, and it found three updates that I hadnt been notified of:
Once those updates were completed, my EVO immediately starting going to sleep as it used to. I watched it for a few hours after the update and it continued to show realistic numbers for wake vs. sleep. My battery was almost depleted at this point, so I powered it off, and did the battery pull for good measure before powering back on and plugging in to charge during the night. This was all late Thursday night. All day Friday my battery performed VERY well...much better than even during 2.1. I had it on charge most of the day while listening to Pandora at my desk. I unplugged it to go home and now checking it this morning, it's now been off charge for 14h 39m, show wake time of 33:44 vs. sleep time of 15:28, and shows 80% battery remaining! This whole scenario makes me wonder if one of those three apps had a similar bug to Facebook. If you have those...you might want to take a closer look.
In my application there are three activities A -> B -> C -> A. I want to detect application's idle time, so that after 15 mins it will pop up a message irrespective of activity. what is the best method to implement this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to know if android has some kind of 'idle time broadcast message'. So for example if the user is currently using one activity of my application but haven't touched the screen or used any keyboard (and doesn't have the autolock at phone level or any screensaver) for a while, I would like to be informed (let's say after 60 seconds). I would like to avoid doing it manually (by tracking each user click, touch, activity changes...)

View 3 Replies View RelatedAll I want to do is from time to time check my mails. For this, I want to activate the mobile network connection (3G) manually for a short period of time, and then de-activate it again.
The problem is that enabling the "mobile network" checkbox after my phone has been idle for some time, doesn't actually activate the 3G connection. (no "H" or "G" icon in the notification bar)
So when I open the mail app it complains with a "connection failed" message.
Even better would be if I could find a way to have my mails automatically checked whenever the connection is activated ...
Other than that I'm very happy with the phone.
I am new to the android programming environment. I am currently working on a project which deals with the user's phone battery level.I am showing the current battery level left on the phone.now i want to display the amount of duration of "idle time, talk time, video playback, audio playback and web surfing" that can be done based on the current battery level. What kind of approach shall i follow.(or) What available API shall i use to get those.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just made the switch from Moto Droid to Samsung fascinate and can't say that I'm all that happy with my decision, No froyo, horrible artifact and color hue, 3 hour charge times, a worse benchmark than my old phone. And on top of that it appears to have terrible reception! While using this phone in the same locations that I had zero problems on the droid, I can't stay connected to 3G to save my life. Youtube and Pandora are useless because I'm not able to keep connection long enough to stream. It has also caused the browser to time out pretty regularly.
View 28 Replies View RelatedWith a largely white image on screen, if you tilt the phone to the left, does it take on a pinkish hue? Also, does adding a Shortcut -> Application take insanely long to load every single time? I just want to make sure I'm not the only one experiencing this.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI looked and can't find any way to make the backlight stay on for more than 3 seconds after I take the phone away from my head during a call. Even if I am typing in info paying a bill it still goes out. Is there any way to change this or is it a problem with my phone?
View 7 Replies View RelatedWell after long waiting I got the moment! So far so good and really enjoying my first smartphone. Now How do i get the phone screen to go to sleep when charging? Can't find anywhere how to do this? Is this normal? It does get pretty warm and not sure if this is good for the screen? When is not plugged it goes to sleep on the 30sec. which is selected?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there any difference between locking the screen (screen being off) and "sleep mode"? If there is, is there a way to force not to go into sleep mode, but have the screen off?
View 6 Replies View RelatedThe two main issues im having are the battery will be completely drained in 1-2 hours in low service areas... post here
Now this problem. the phone will not stay asleep after timeout or end button . I have to restart the phone when it does this to make it work normal for a a short while... then usually every day... just a few hours after a restart, it does it again.
So its very consistent, very annoying. Does it with apps or no apps, nothing running or everything running, with service, or with out service.... doesn't matter.
As you can see in the vid, extremely occasionally "shaking" the phone will make it stop. but as im typing this now, its back on again. most of the time shaking doesn't do anything. Next time i may try chunking it at my fireplace
When I select the power button to bring the phone out of sleep the phone screen will turn off within a second or two. Is there a way to keep the screen on longer? If I press power and look away for a second the screen goes black again. Its liek I have to hit power and jump right on it to enter my swipe code.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if this is a common verizon thing or a phone thing.Every time the verizon signal is lost or detected my music pauses for a split second. this becomes very annoying while commuting to and from work everyday underground where the signal is lost and gained about 17 times due to the depth of the subway. how can i fix this? this is not an email sync issue but a carrier signal detection issue.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAnyone else having a problem of not having the screen turn on when you press the power button from sleep? It doesn't happen often but it does happen. This is my second Captivate as my last one would shut itself off randomly and that phone also had this problem.Yes, I make sure I pressed the power button and waited a couple seconds to make sure it just wasn't lag but I can guarantee you it is not. Like I said, it doesn't happen all the time but maybe once every 2 days. I'm guessing it's a slight problem with other users as it happened on my last phone but I'm not sure. Hopefully it's a software issue.
View 11 Replies View RelatedIf you don't like the lockscreen, there is one other lockscreen that comes standard with the phone. You can change it in the Display settings. It's called Glass Screen. Basically, you just swipe anywhere on the display from left or right and it'll unlock.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI just got this phone last week and I absolutely love it. I came from a blackberry and of course I was used to unlocking my phone with a PIN instead of the pattern (1st android owned) that this phone has. I was wondering if there is a way to have that option in my SF. I hate the pattern, I checked out the market and there is an app for that but the reviews were horrible. If this is even possible on this phone yet or I have to wait on the upcoming 2.2 update and yes my phone is not rooted.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI bit the bullet today and got a Fascinate. When I was playing around with the Captivate at the store I noticed the shortcuts when you pull down the notification bar, the ones at the store were silent, vib only, etc.
Now that I'm playing around with the Fascinate I find that its shorcuts are BT, WiFi, etc. Is there a way to change the shortcuts that are displayed when you pull down the notification bar? I can't seem to figure out how to do it.
I know on my old BB I could change the times when I get alerts. For example, I don't want my phone beeping at me when I get an e-mail at 3 a.m. On my BB I could set those alerts to be active say from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. So far, I haven't been able to find out how to do that on the Fascinate.
