I looked and can't find any way to make the backlight stay on for more than 3 seconds after I take the phone away from my head during a call. Even if I am typing in info paying a bill it still goes out. Is there any way to change this or is it a problem with my phone?

I've had my Fascinate for a few weeks and just tonight out of the blue, no matter what timeout interval I have my backlight to shut off at, it goes blank and a few seconds later turns itself back on. Then keeps cycling on and off indefinitely. This happens whether or not it's charging.I'm not rooted, and the only things I installed today were Pulse news reader and Nose Candy. I've since uninstalled both and the problem persists. Any help? Obviously this can't stay, or else my battery will die within a couple hours, even when not in use.

View 21 Replies View RelatedI'm using the Fascinate and LauncherPro (free).I've dropped shortcuts (by long pressing home screen, add shortcut) to my favorite Apps around the home screens.Well, after a reboot the shortcut custom/built-in icons 'disappear.' They become stock android icons.After some troubleshooting, I noticed that if I open up the [place where all the apps are stored] and long press dragged them to the home screen I want, they will retain the proper icon after reboot.

I also downloaded the free version of Boot Animation from the market. It too reports success but doesn't actually change the boot animation. Has anyone had any success changing their boot animation?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have found the settings to adjust the delay on the screen itself blanking, but when using the phone in the dark, the backlight behind the home, menu, back, etc, keys turns off too quickly. I might be reading and email and want to go back, but by the time I have read it, the keys are dark.
Is there a way to adjust this setting?
I just purchased a fascinate today and it's pretty solid, however I noticed that when I try to set a custom picture for the background, it won't let me select the whole picture and it zooms in ridiculously too much. Now, I've tried almost everything, but nothing seems to work. Can anyone help me?Oh, if you have the fascinate, download handscent for messaging. I had a blackberry before the fascinate and it's similar to the crunch sms for blackberry. It's convenient because it allows you to customize the length of the vibrations and led lights, but the fascinate doesn't seem to have led light capability. It also allows you to customize the bubbles a well as the colors per contact and all that. Definitely something to look into.

I was using the plus version of LP, but it seemed to run pretty slow on my phone. Usually with menu selections (aka widget selection, or app selection when long pressing on the screen). The widgets also didn't update properly etc.I'm curious though is it might of been some advanced settings that I didn't play with. I typically just did an install setup my dock and homescreen, but never touched the advanced settings.Does anyone have some advanced settings they could share? Also my phone isn't rooted, would that cause all the lag with it? Cause honestly TW runs fine.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI just made the switch from Moto Droid to Samsung fascinate and can't say that I'm all that happy with my decision, No froyo, horrible artifact and color hue, 3 hour charge times, a worse benchmark than my old phone. And on top of that it appears to have terrible reception! While using this phone in the same locations that I had zero problems on the droid, I can't stay connected to 3G to save my life. Youtube and Pandora are useless because I'm not able to keep connection long enough to stream. It has also caused the browser to time out pretty regularly.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhile in a call I cannot mute the call whether on speaker phone or headset speaker. I have tried soft reset, hard reset and the dreaded factory reset. Nothing, still am not able to mute a call. This will be a deal breaker for me as I need this to work for my job. I have searched for this and pretty much have found nothing other than folks having muting problems when their face makes contact with the screen while in a call. I have no prob with that. As long as I am listing probs that I have found: Whenever I exit browsing the web my screen brightness goes to full bright and will not adjust itself anymore until I turn the phone off and then back on.
GPS takes from 10 sec to 10 min to connect, very sporadic, and the turn by turn Nav is pretty much useless due to the extreme low volume. Why is it that the speakerphone is extremely loud and most media volumes are nearly whisper quiet? 3G is on again off again 50 % of the time and it shows by my time without a signal, anywhere from 25% to 45% on a daily basis. I never had that problem with the Dinc. Never had more than 2% TWS with the Dinc. Not praising the Dinc here, just stating a fact.
dbm readings are way off. Standing right next to a tower I cannot get below a -86 dbm reading. Again not praising the Dinc but it would read -50 dbm in the exact same location. Just using the comparison for myself to determine if it is a prob with the SF. Get a ton of complaints when using the phone outside when there is even the slightest breeze. Folks have a hard time hearing me over the howling wind noise. Very aggravating. For those that are gonna bash, save it. If you have solutions to the above problems please let me know what they are as my 30 day trial is coming up and I am leaning towards a return. This is the 2nd SF that I have tried with the same results also. The screen on this, camera, video pic quality, and many other great features make this a real bitch, but I need first and foremost a phone that I can mute calls on and talk on outside even when its a breezy day.
Is there a way to extend the time that the backlight stays on whilst making a phone call?
Sure, I know that you can press the 'end call' button to end a call, but about three or four rings into the call, the backlight goes out, meaning that the on-screen 'end call' option is disabled, presumably also meaning that turning on the speakerphone during a call is going to need some tactile finger acrobatics.
How many Fascinates are suffering from this during calls? I heard it for the first time today and came to the forums and found a few more people who had the same problem. I was just wondering if this is a reason to return it or its a software issue. During calls sometimes there is crackling or sort of reverbing from the ear piece. It usually happens when you are speaking loudly.

I'd much prefer the beep as it is very disruptive and a friend asked me the other day what that noise was. It was my phone ringing for an incoming call!
