I upgraded from a Samsung Exclaim to a Epic via Sprint (Obviously, lol) I put the sd card from the old phone into the new one and put the pics onto my desktop. They're in a format called jpg.md I can't put them on the new phone. I've googled, and contacted Samsung, neither of which has helped. Any suggestions?

I have been mounting my phone with my pc for quite awhile, then one day, it decided to be difficult. At first it took a couple, replugs to get it to recognize the SD card. Then, It stopped recognizing it at all. Depending on what USB port I use, I get different results from I/O error, to device not recognized.
Things I have tried:
-Every driver known to mankind.
-Plugging in every single usb port on the computer (including mobo)
-Disconnecting every usb device except for the phone
-Formatting the SD card (lost my photos forgot they were on there)
-Only used STOCK cable.
I'm out of ideas, and sprint claims this is not a problem with the phone on all the forum posts I've seen with similar problems. Has anyone actually found a solution for this other than thinking plugging it in the back of the computer actually fixes anything?
Is there a way to access the SD card on the Epic or do you have to load it onto your computer to make folders on it?

My friend's Epic/PC will not pick up his micro SD card. I told him to try what it said in the manual to reformat it, but the problem is that the phone will not even read the card in the first place. Do you think the card has died already?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just pulled my phone from my pocket and it was frozen so I pulled battery and restarted it. The SD card format was unrecognized. I stuck it in a card reader and it wouldn't show up on my pc. I stuck a different card in my phone and it is fine. I called Sprint and the card is not covered by warranty. The warranties are device specific and Samsung does not feel that they need to cover them. I was lucky that the Sprint store did replace my card with a Sandisk card. I have numerous Microsd cards. They all came with a lifetime warranty. Samsung fails on this note. I still love this phone.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI finally got around transferring my 32Gig card out of my Evo and into the Epic. After I put it in I decided to clean it and reformat it in the Epic. Epic starts the format then comes up with a message "card damaged cant format". I put the same card in the Evo and it formatted just fine and then worked in the Epic. Then I tried to format it again in the Epic and again I get the card damaged pop up. Again it reformatted just fine in the Evo. Any ideas anyone else get this message? Just to add I tried to format a smaller card in the Epic and it was able to format that fine. Once the 32gig card is formatted in the Evo it will work fine in the Epic.

View 2 Replies View Relatedwell I know I took pictures and I can see them using the USB cable but when I open the gallery it tells me there is nothing there.I also get a message about no SD card detected even though its there and I can see it just fine if I go into the SD card menu in the settings menu and also if it is plugged into a computer also there are pictures that I took today that arent even showing up when I plug it into the computer.I cant even read my SD card if I take it out and put it into that adapter it came with but plugging the phone into USB I can read the SD card thats in there - or I can see some pictures that I have taken
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've tried both the manual method as well as the Easy, one-click, auto root out there, but I can't get root to take on this device. I think I'm probably overlooking something simple. What I need to know is. Well, everything from start to finish. When I connect to my PC, I have enabled USB debugging. Should I allow the SD card to mount or keep is in "charging" mode? I have experience with the manual methods where you access ADB Shell and copy/paste commands. That's how I rooted my Hero. But I think the connection is not right somehow. I'm seeing a lot of failure messages.

It seems like taking the photo via the facebook app does not save the photo to the sd card?

Is anyone else experiencing problems downloading and running apps from the market due to low memory issues? Why did they only put 512MB of internal memory for app storage on this Epic when the AT&T galaxy version got 8GB of internal memory in addition to the 16GB micro Sd card???
My memory is full now, and without android 2.2 I can't move apps to the SD card. They should have provided all of their galaxy class phones with the 8GB internal memory.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI didn't worry about it till today. but i was useing my phone while it was charging. but it got pretty hot today. enough for me to go download a app to see the temp of the battery. it said like 108? and right before i took at battery 118? idk if its right but it was pretty hot. and i am sure its not good if its getting that hot. i was listening music through blue-tooth, on the internet with wifi and thats it really. i put it in the fridge for 5 mins hope that wont hurt it but i need help and what should i do to stop this? please let me know. im using the charger that came with it. it was got warm when i charge before but i dont think this much.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've been through three different car mounts so far, they of the "universal" variety... one with rubber side clamps, one padded, both with feet underneath... none of them were to my liking... didn't hold my Epic well enough, either fell out (thankfully while I was monitoring it) or felt like it could if I hit too big a bump. My question is if anyone has found a really good car mount yet, specifically for the Epic preferably? I prefer a windshield mount, but I'm willing to consider other options if it's sturdy and I can position it decently in my car.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI had pretty bad battery life today, took off the charger at 11:30, just plugged in at 15% 11 hours later, with a short charge in the car on the way to a late lunch. No text messages, no emails, no phone calls . I got a few apps off the market, did a little web surfing, & watched one 4 minute youtube video. This is my first Android phone, I had a HTC Touch Pro before this. BTW - The lack of comms today is because I'm not working right now, but in the middle of federal hiring process with the next appointment on the 13th, wish me luck. Bluetooth, GPS, and wifi are always off. Screen brightness is left at the lowest level. This is all shown with the Power Control widget on a home screen. I also have the Samsung Program Monitor widget on the same screen, and nothing stays running. Auto sync is always off, I rarely actually use gmail. The stock email app is set to check two other email accounts every hour.
I tried a little test, but just don't know what to make of it. I have Battery Monitor and Android Manager Free installed. Whenever I mention Task Manager, I accessed it through AMF. Before beginning, I removed the Weather Channel widget from the home screen and terminated the app in the Task Manager. I had installed a BBC news app today, but uninstalled before testing; it automatically updated a couple times today and showed up in Task Manager after I terminated it. I made sure Background Data was turned off, I generally only turn it back on when I launch the Market (gives a popup saying it needs it). I plugged the charger in with the phone at 26% charge, just for a minute to reset the last time unplugged. Using Battery Monitor (which apparently just shortcuts to the built-in Android battery monitoring screens found through Settings) I checked the status periodically, along with seeing what was active in Task Manager. Every 5 to 10 minutes I would press the power button to turn on the display, then check Battery history - Since last unplugged. I'd check the Task Manager, terminate Battery Monitor and AMF, then press the power button to turn the screen off............
I just got my new epic a few days ago.Coming from a Black Berry this is a new world for me.Can you guys suggest must have apps?

Fortunately the reboot time is very fast, but of all the bugs to possibly run into on any cell phone, the scariest is the idea of dropping calls. I am convinced this may be a software glitch that will get fixed with an update.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI may just be losing it, but is there a way to reboot the Epic via key combo? i.e. to reboot the i Phone you just continue to hold power, to reboot a blackberry you do crtl + right caps + delete...but there doesn't seem to be any way to reboot the epic and it is really, really annoying. Been having this bug that Tasker is causing and I need to reboot the phone every morning, and I need to do it once I get away from my home wifi, so when I walk out of the building I have to keep fiddling with the on and off buttons while walking...long story short I would really like an easier way of doing a quick and easy reboot that doesn't require extra steps to turn the phone back on once I've turned it off.

Since Launcher Pro's contact button didn't work, I decided to un-install LP. *In case you're wondering, each time I clicked on the Contacts icon/button of LP, I would get an error pop-up saying that it was unable to launch (something to this effect.) Anyway, after I un-installed the LP I decided to also un-install the HS - with using just having to use TW - I figured I don't need HS anymore. So I removed HS from my Applications, but I am STILL getting the pop-up window each time I go to my home screen! So annoying! How do I get this off my home screen? I am trying to avoid doing a Factory Reset, because I don't want to have to input all my contacts manually again! Google didn't sync all my contacts, so this would mean having to start all over on setting up my phone. Unless someone can suggest a contacts backup program to place on my PC?
