I know that you can hold the home button down and wait for the list of recently used apps to come up - but for some reason, the second or so that it takes for the long press drives me crazy! Is there a way to make a screen icon that will take you to your recent apps? I would rather not install a whole new launcher to get this option - so are there any lightweight ones that do just that?

With all the satisfaction with this phone I couldn't imagine that this would be the case.The Epic 4g can/will run apps just the same as the EVO (no rooting involved), no unexpected restrictions?

However, in the past few weeks, I've lost 3G altogether even when I re-enable it. I've tried updating the profile & PRL, no luck. Any ideas? Hoping to not have to do a full phone wipe.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am on the Epic 4g using the default YouTube app that came with the Epic 4g and I get an error every time I try to access my linked YouTube account. I have attached the screenshot of the error. This happens after going into the YouTube app, selecting "My account" then selecting my account from the "YouTube accounts" pop up. It will freeze for a while then I get the error in the screenshot.
I've even tried the HQ YouTube app found here: http://forum.androidcentral.com/android-applications/13492-evo-youtube-apk-works-droid-nexus-incredible.html
And taking the same steps as above it does the freezes but this time doesn't bring up that same error (I waited a couple minutes).
By the way, this is the stock ROM and I am not rooted.
Got the Samsung Desk Dock for easy re-charging and using phone on nightstand. If I use the Samsung Desk Home app from the market, that app automatically detects that the phone is in the dock and runs the app. However, no other app is able to detect that the phone is docked, even with the Desk/Home app uninstalled (i.e. not the default). My understanding is that the phone should send a signal to Android if the device is being docked. Then Android sends a broadcast to all apps that the device has been docked. I have tested with two different apps which are designed to run upon the phone being docked and neither detects the phone being docked. Without the Samsung dock app loaded, there is no change when the phone is docked. It seems like only the Samsung app is capable of detecting docking. Am I missing something? How can I get the Epic to send out the "normal" signal to other apps upon being docked?

I have a feeling it may be a matter of modifying systemui.apk but I'm not sure.

I am currently detecting, in the onCreate(), if the intent is fired from the quick launch dialog, and then I call finish(). This entails that when the application goes to the background finish() is called so that when the app is launched it goes through the onCreate(). This requires strategic coding when switching between activities in the application. I guess I can fire finish() in the onResume() also after detecting where the intent came from, but a bunch of unnecessary coding can be eliminated if the quick launch intent can simply be disabled.

I am using a Pandigital Novel, and the lack of hardware keys make it very awkward to navigate the system. The softkeys in the OP status bar allow me to get to the home screen, and if I glitch it by making it timeout through countless presses occasionally brings up the "Recent Apps" screen which is great, but not reliable like that. (If they had the source code released, I could probably just fix the status bar keys to intentionally [pti] bring the screen up)
What I need, is the actual intent, so I can make a quick toggle app to bring it up. Or if you know of an app that already does this (Or widget, but I'd rather not as widgets mess with sleep on this thing, with the Google Experience/market hack).
I know that it can be done by emulating a home key press that's longer than the longpress timeout.
I use CyanogenMod 9 nightlies for Samsung Galaxy S II GT-i9100. I wonder if there is flashable zip or something, that adds "Clear All" button in Recent Apps multitasking screen, much like in Galaxy S III, that swipes out all apps from Recent Apps and closes them. Is there something like this, installable or flashable?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm hoping someone can help here. I recently installed the OTA update and then figured it would be a good time to reset the phone to factory settings. So I did that, went into the Market to redownload my apps and noticed that only some of them were listed. Searching for the missing apps yields nothing. Some of the ones that are missing include Slingplayer, Logmein, Fandango, Samsung Desktop Dock Application, Pure Calendar Widget, and my Exchange by Touchdown key. They aren't listed in the downloads and searching for them again yields nothing. I have tried performing a hard reset on the phone (twice) but that doesn't fix the issue. I also tried clearing the cache in the browser but no luck.
