My back and search buttons sometimes randomly decide not to work. The only way to get them to respond when they act up is to press the home key.Does anyone else have this issue? I'm on my third epic, and I really don't want to exchange for another one, because I've already applied a phantom skinz

I just visited the sprint store today and was testing an epic 4g and found that the bottom buttons were very unresponsive and I had to press them multiple times (sometimes up to 6 times) to get them to work. The guy working at sprint told me all the epic phones are that unresponsive. Is this true?

The buttons should always be visibly and always stay on top and send the command to the app thats running.
Someone have ideas and sample codes how to do that?
*I see an app with name (Smart Taskmanager) wich always detect when you touch the right side of the screen and then detect when you slide the finger to left.
So I think its possible, with this function I think its possible to implementate the code to simulate the (Home, Meny, Back, Search) buttons.
*I also see and test an app wich show a "cracked display" always ontop so that tecnic maybe shold be useful to always show the buttons/bitmanp on top.
Thoose function, to show the button and catch the "touch event" and send the event to the active program, thats what i dont can figure out how to do.
Is there a way to move or remove the +/- virtual zoom buttons? I like to scroll with my right thumb and it gets in the way all the time.

The keyboard backlight only turns on when the slider is open. Now the touch-sensitive buttons will infact stay lit as long as you would need them, while the screen is on .Life just got a little easier B)
View 4 Replies View RelatedI like many of you have been waiting for months to get my hands on the epic. However when I bought one, the battery life was insanely unusable even after 4-5 days. So I finally returned it for a new on. Well find out over the next few days how the battery performs. But the new one has capacitive buttons that barely respond to touch. Particularly the home key and menu key. I've read of a bunch of people having similar problems. Are we just a few unlucky people who happen to be on the forums, or is Samsung having serious Quality control issues here?
View 5 Replies View Relatedi saw a video back when i was debating between evo and epic, and it showed me how to change those bottom 4 buttons (PHONE CONTACTS MESSAGING APPLICATIONS). i figure phone and contacts kinda go hand in hand so its a waste, and i use HANDCENT. now that i have the phone i cant figure out how to do it to save my life. anyone have any ideas?
The same feature also allowed you to swap around the applications view, and delete unused home pages. i dont need 7 pages id be fine with 4 or 5 (multicon FTW)

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo when I am on the call screen, and want to hang up or pull the key pad to enter some numbers, sometimes it takes about 3 seconds for the screen to become responsive and those buttons to become press-able. I say 'sometimes' because many a times it just works outright and I can lower the phone from my face and tap the end call button and it works. But other times it can create situations where I want to hang up the phone immediately but cant. Does it happen with anyone else?? One reason for this could be bad proximity sensor, but if screen can light up on taking the phone away from ear, it means proximity sensor is working fine. Any solutions?

All the buttons seem to work on the screen except the locked ones on the bottom (phone, contacts, messaging, applications). I can use ALL other buttons except these will not work.

View 7 Replies View RelatedEvery now and then when I get a text and try to reply, none of the letter buttons will work. From what I've tried, the only way to fix it is to exit all the way out of the messaging application and go back in. The buttons will animate like they are being pushed, vibrate, and even show swype trails and word suggestions, but none of my words will show up on the screen.
I haven't figured out the specific instances when this happens. It seems a little random but I think it may only happen when I lock the screen without leaving the messaging application first, I get a text, and try to reply immediately from the app. But I'm really not sure - it might just be random.
It's like a springy echoey feeling as opposed to the dpad, menu and answer buttons that feel quite firm by comparison? Is it just my phone?

This has been an issue over the last 10 days or so. Anyone else have this problem? I brought it to Verizon tech and they couldn't figure it out. Google voice search works fine. I speak loudly and clearly in a quiet environment, using different search terms.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am on my third epic and still having the same problem. My notification light worked fine when the phone was first activated and slowly stopped working altogether. I also bought my girlfriend one and the same thing happened to hers. That's four phones in three weeks. I can't be the only one that is having this issue. Anyone else? My setting for the light to pulse is checked. I have also done a factory reset.

Given that this is the main screen and not one of the capacitive buttons, I find this behavior very strange.

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust picked up the Epic yesterday, and already been having issues all day long. The phone has does this about 5 or 6 times today. It will fade away, and when I come back to it a little later to check messages or anything, it will all be blacked out, and nothing will come back. (by hitting the power button) No matter what I push, the screen stays black, and the phone seems like it is off. (A few times, the lights have stayed on, and the buttons act like they are responding, but nothing works still) It has also lost signal completely twice today, and I've had to restart it to get signal back.
