Samsung Epic 4G :: Active Sync Email On Epic
Nov 3, 2010I work in IT at my company and support mobile devices and their connection to our exchange server.One of our employees got the Epic 4g and she continues to have issues with ActiveSync not downloading emails right away. For example, this morning she had about 25 emails come in and on her Epic it showed the last email being from yesterday. I tried to manually refresh the email on the phone and it did not download any new emails. I rebooted the phone and it started downloading all her emails. This is not the first time this has happened. This is a normal occurrence for her. It will not download anything for a few hours to a few days then download everything at once.I know it is not an issue on our side as we have about 20 iPhones and about 15 Android devices working fine including my Evo. So far, she is the only one in our company with an Epic however we have about 3 employees that are about to leave their Blackberries and iPhones for the Epic and I have told them to hold of until we resolve this issue.

Sep 2, 2010One thing I've noticed though is that this thing just doesn't seem to be picking up my email very well at all...personal or work. Are any of you getting this issue? I'm used to the BB getting them almost instantly which is important to me because of my work. I'm also getting this notification saying "Network Error" from time to time. What's up with that? Overall I'm happy with this phone but I really hope that I can get my email situation solved.

Sep 21, 2010I am on my third epic and still having the same problem. My notification light worked fine when the phone was first activated and slowly stopped working altogether. I also bought my girlfriend one and the same thing happened to hers. That's four phones in three weeks. I can't be the only one that is having this issue. Anyone else? My setting for the light to pulse is checked. I have also done a factory reset.

Nov 30, 2010The problem I'm having is when ever I set a default notification tone it plays good and loud when I test it but when I actually get a text the volume drops below half making it very hard to hear the phone when ever I get a text. Is there a reason its doing this? I have the notification all the way up and it still drops when I get a text. Oct 4, 2010This weekend I logged on to roadrunner via computer downloaded all email to outlook and deleted the mail from the server. (I store all emails locally and not on the email server as they have limits and I do not, just to answer why) Now when I went to the phone all my email was gone from the inbox. It looks like the phone actually synchs to the server and does not store a copy of the email locally. Strange as the deleted emails are still on the phone so they are store locally (what are developers thinking?). Anyway, is there a way, some setting I am missing to store emails locally on the phone?

Sep 17, 2010I don't know if it was the update that was pushed to me today, but the stock email app hasn't updated my two accounts since before ten this morning. My data works, because I just checked my hotmail through the dolphin browser. But it & the other account I have set up on the phone won't refresh, even when I manually select it on the menu. When I turn the ringer volume down using the side buttons on my phone it only turns the ringer down, nothing else. Sep 27, 2010So if I have the messaging app open and on screen I don't get a notification sound for the message that I just got sent I have looked into settings and nothing, so if I respond to a message and put the phone down and they respond I dont know unless the app is closed - or I assume the screen is turned off but never tried that. I got 9 text messages from someone and it was important that I respond quickly, well I did and then put the phone down, they texted back 1 min latter and then again 1 min after that and again 1 min after that 8 times, I never saw them until I looked at the screen and that was like 5-6 min latter - screen timeout is set to 2 min but after the text after 1 min it reset that timer and again and again so I never got the message until 5-6 min after it was sent resulting in messages like "hello?" "WTF" "answer" and so on.

Sep 20, 2010I just downloaded the media hub update today and noticed that now when i get a text message my notification light stays solid instead of blinking...This is annoying because it could cause the battery to drain and it just looks weird...Is there any setting i can mess with, or has anyone else had this problem?
