In addition to the accuracy problem, the compass on my Epic seems to be really out of whack. It doesn't maintain a consistent reading (it jitters quite a bit) and has a difficult time finding North. I've seen this behavior exhibit itself in the GPS Test application and Google Maps. I loaded GPS Test on my girlfriends HTC Eris and her compass is accurate and a lot less jittery

I tried the free compass from catch.com, plus some others, and I can't get any of them to calibrate correctly. Anyone else have these issues? I don't know if its the phone or the apps.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm just wondering if this is normal: I can go into an app like Google Maps and drop down into street view with the compass view enabled. I'll see that the view will really only point one way and jerk around that one direction as I move it around. I'll then calibrate the compass using the figure 8 method and then street view will work properly. If I then exit back to the home screen and load up say LAYER I'll have the same problem. The compass will point in one direction and jerk around it until it's recalibrate again. It's more of an annoyance really as I basically have to recalibrate it every time I open up an app that uses it. Just wondering if others are having this issue. I've talked to a few i phone friends and other than the occasional recalibration they don't seem to have this issue.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI was at school listening to music on pandora and it died, went home plugged it in (charger) and now when i try to enter my password it doesnt respond AT ALL! no even the emergency call.. this is pissing me off to NO END as I got it 3 days ago... I tried taking th battery out and that didnt work, i called it with my home phone and she screen changed to the answer/ignor/ignore w/ text screen but the contact didnt move when i slid it over.

View 41 Replies View Related4g working right before the update. After the update (DI18 OTA) it shows 4g being connected (2 4g bars) but nothing works. Internet, speedtest app, anything that requires internet times out. Anyone else experiencing this problem any suggestions? I have turned it off and on but that's not helping.

I reinstalled ATK but there is a problem before I placed the icon on the main screen and when I would press it it would just kill apps automatically but now it opens up the app and I have to select it.
I got them working at one point, now they don't work, sees the phone like once out of every 10 tries.

I successfully installed the Epic Experience v1.1.10 ROM. Everything seems to have installed properly.
All seems to be well, so I went to install Titanium Backup to restore all of my apps from my stock Epic. The installation went fine. I try to run the app for the first time, and I get the following error: "Sorry, I could not acquire root privileges. This application will *not* work! Please verify that your ROM is rooted and includes BusyBox, and try again".
So I know that my root included BusyBox, because I was able to install and run it on the stock ROM. But just for kicks, I clicked "Problems?" and downloaded the version it says will work. No difference.
I have rebooted the phone several times. Makes no difference.
I have deleted and re-installed Titanium Backup. Makes no difference.
Suddenly the sound doesn't work for my text when I type or swype. I've turned on ALL sounds possible. (It still vibrates.) I can hear all the other sound effects and can hear the typing if I switch to Android Keyboard. But I like Swype!

1 - My screen brightness seems to adjust up on its own... To increase battery life I have it set all the way down...but, for example, as I was typing this post the brightness increased on its own... Any ideas?
2 - My voice recognition stops working all the time...not with one app either... Resetting my profile seems to fix it for about 5 minutes but it doesn't take long for it to go TU again
my wife wants a compass app on her phone (I think this is so she knows which way to walk to the most expensive shops, and becuase her friends with iPhones have them ).... as it appears that there is not one on the SGS, can anyone reccommend the best one to download? I presume that they are all as accurate as each other, but are there any that have any nice additional features?

I only get my email to show up on my inbox on my phone ONLY when i open email. I currently have it set to to check email every 5 minutes but this is obviously not happening. and i dont get a blinking LED when i get a SMS, Text message.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI returned my first Fascinate due to it kept complaining the memory card was not plugged in. Would have to pop off the back of the phone off and remove then reinsert it to get it online again to use camera. Had to pay for an advanced replacement tell they get the old one back. Ugh. Well the replacement I just got does not do this but the compass does not work on it. I downloaded a compass app and it keeps saying abnormal readings and I need to recalibrate but no avail. My previous Fascinate seemed to have a working compass. Did I get a second defective phone?

Downloaded compass application and didn't find it to be very accurate. Used it next to a real compass and an Iphone with its compass....Iphone matched the real compass...this one was way off. Anyone have better luck, or did they get the compass chip from the same guy they got the crappy GPS chip from.

A phone that I actually have been waiting for ever since the IPhone came out because I knew the technology would be where I wanted it to be for the most part (speed, HD, capacity, upgrade ability/customization.
