View 7 RepliesI was in an area with some not so great reception this evening and at one point my text messages wouldn't send.I decided to update my profile and prl just to see what it could do for me and the updates failed. Oddly enough, I could still access 3g data, just no text.I could make phone calls, just no outgoing texts (can't confirm incoming).Anyway, on my way home, I sent myself a text and it worked fine, but I still couldn't connect to update my prl or profile which I've never had a problem with before. I got home and did a quick search and found this thread: Samsung Moment. Can't update Firmware, Profile, or PRL.I'd follow up with a call to Sprint to see if this might hopefully be the case, but they aren't available right now. Anyone else having trouble updating their prl or profiles tonight?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I've been running without 3G (disabling it with the Quick Settings app) for the great battery savings. However, in the past few weeks, I've lost 3G altogether even when I re-enable it. I've tried updating the profile & PRL, no luck. Any ideas? Hoping to not have to do a full phone wipe.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo after seeing people were posting on here about the PRL update on 7/28 I went to go hit the PRL update under Settings > System updates. To my surprise it will not let me do the PRL update. I keep hitting the button and nothing happens. I tried the same thing for the Firmware and Profile updates and nothing happens when I press the buttons. The only one that works is the HTC software update. I tried turning my phone on and off and the same thing still happens. Have not tried a reset yet.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhat's up with the profile pics in our contacts that are synced with Facebook being so damn choppy and low-quality? Same goes with the Friends widget on Touchwiz. I have to rely on taking my own pictures and cropping them into my contacts. Is there no other way around it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased the phone today at 8:20AM CDT. It is now 1:10PM CDT and I have not gotten any work done. That's over 20% of the day already drained. All the tweaks and technology that has gone in this phone, and neither Sprint or Samsung were able to slow down time. At this rate, I won't be able to even go through a full day without not spending most of my time on the phone. I've been told that time management will be better as time goes on, but I'm worried I might need to get spare hours in a day. Lets hope there is a firmware update soon that will help with this. I am sure my friends, family, and employers will really appreciate it.
View 30 Replies View RelatedThe version of the software that is most current is version 6 (the phone shipped with version 3).
To ascertain version: Go to Dialer/Hit Star/#9999#
You will see the PDA; Phone; and Software Version numbers in this section
The T939xxxx6 for PDA AND PHONE and then
Software Version - ending in .006 on the last line.
I was told that the reason that I keep seeing the "No update file exists" message when I check "update firmware" is because I have the latest version.
At some point my phone was updated without giving me a message. I did notice the red and blue arrows yesterday. But there was no message. My SD card mounted and dismounted on its own and gave an error message, and then all references to the error and SD card disappeared.
If your phone is/has exhibited this sort of behavior, you may already have the update.
I tried updating lpr from rooted phone but it wouldnt let me do it. Is there a way to update manually?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI had to take it back yesterday it will not update my profile, I'm on sprint. rotation was lagging. and i had to install my gmail account to times before it didn't come up with an error. I don't know is this worth waiting it for 2.0. i don't know what they can do to fix the problem.
View 5 Replies View RelatedHaven't heard much lately regarding this topic, I hope people don't let Samsung off the hook. We need to keep the pressure applied until something is delivered. What bothers me the most is, if the Epic has the GPS fix, why not the rest of us? Goes to prove that the GPS issue might still be being worked on and Samsung/Sprint are just trying to calm fears.

work on an updated firmware?
I have been waiting for kies to say that new firmware is available (when it works!) and finally it knows there is an update to my JF3 - presumably JM1.
However, is says that 'this device's version cannot be updated'
My SGS was bought from Mobiles.co.uk and is using an Orange SIM and as far as I can tell it is not locked or branded.
The current firmware is
PDA ...XXJF3
Phone ...XXJF3
CSC ...XAJF3
Is this an 'Orange' CSC?
How I can get it updated?
Seems like a silly question but i had an HTC desire which i swapped for the galaxy s for obvious reasons... anyway in the settings/about phone section on my desire there was an option to check for firmware updates but in the galaxy there is not so my question is this...
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo yeah, basically my Kies crashed while it was updating firmware and now I can't connect my phone to my PC anymore, it just doesn't recognize it. Windows just says something about corrupted device but kies can't recognize it either. And here's the really great stuff. I can't even boot the damn device! It just gives me thing weird logo that has mobile phone and my computer on it, and then some yellow triangle with exclamation mark in between and it doesn't go away. I've tried every button combination and hard-boot with removing the battery but no luck. I'm really really frustrated because I can't use this thing at all now! What a great update software you got there Samsung, really great (endrant). So can anyone give any pointers what I should do?
View 5 Replies View Relatedi tried and tried to update my phone using NPS but i litteraly could end my life of aging and by that time it would still be crap and won't update. so i have decided to update my phone to get rid of the animation that my carrier put oh and because it will speed my phone and bettary stuff.. MY PHONE IS STILL IN H1!
1.so what it is the easiest and best way to install a firmwere on my phone ?
2.what is the best firmwere?
3.i need hebrew on my phone , how do i install it later ?
and i heard that firmwere now dont come with google stuff ... will i still be able to sync my gmail and calander and contacts oh what about market?
I just plugged into Kies and performed a Firmware update, which I assume was the Froyo update. It all ran it's course perfectly and the phone then went to reboot. Following this, it hung on the Galaxy S animated screen before simply going to a black screen (I know the phone is still on, because the two bottom corner buttons will light up if pressed).
I realise that this black screen is quite common, and that people suggest booting into recovery mode. The problem is, I've never been able to get my phone into recovery mode. I turn the phone on and hold down Power + Home + Voume Up for a couple of seconds and then let go... it does nothing, it just goes onto the Vodafone screen and then carries on booting.
I also tried holding down these buttons for a little longer, but all that it does is pushes the phone into a constant restart loop (as obviously I'm holding down the power button).
What's the newest firmware update for SGS? And what's the best of the 2.1 v.?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just updated to the new version through Kies. As soon as my phone booted and I exited lock screen, a lot of popups of processes that crashed show up. This includes android.process.acore, com.google.processes.gapps, Daily Briefing, calendar... pretty much everything shows up and I don't have access to anything on the phone. Apparently usb debug got back on so I can't get kies to recognize the phone.
I have a contract-free galaxy s from germany. Rooted. Uninstalled ryans lag fix through market before upgrading. I don't know what I did wrong. What can I do?
I would have thought that a firmware update via Kies would preserve user data, contacts, apps I paid for from the market, phone settings etc. But after going from I9000DXJF4 to I9000DXJG4 using that appalling excuse for software (Kies) I have a completely empty device with just stock standard apps. No warnings to click through about wiping data, no strange error messages on the device. Is this normal? If so I might as well put my SIM card back in my iPhone until there is a consensus build of Froyo out for the Galaxy S as re-downloading and resyncing everything each time.
View 8 Replies View RelatedJust posted on XDA by designgears : I897ucjh7 - not froyo, - xda-developers. Looks like it's the final test firmware before the official release. Word from those that have flashed is that they are getting a GPS lock, Indoors. Also, it Looks like updates to the phone will be done with Kies, not OTA. Also has been said that it's pretty quick and the lag issue has been addressed.
View 49 Replies View RelatedYesterday I was having fun trying out the secret codes (like *#*#4636#*#*) and tried out the touch screen code. Then clicked on update (firmware).
Then the touch was not working. I tried taking out battery and putting it back on. Tried factory reset after backing up data with Kies. Tried rooting the simplest way. Tried to flash using Odin with a recovery and pit file. Still nothing is working.
If you open Marketplace then press the menu key then downloads, you will go straight to all apps on your phone and all that have updates will be listed first. I found it by accident and saw I had 40 apps with updates.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI read there was a mandatory update upgrading the voice mail app. I didn't receive the notice and was wondering is there anywhere on the Sprint website that shows what the most current software versions are?
I am currently on build number: DI18
No longer works on 2.1? Or is this because its a Samsung?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do you install a file that is not an update.zip file from your SD card? I booted into recovery and their is no option for apply ROM from SD or anything like that. Do you have to rename all your files to update.zip to run them. I only have 4 options in the recovery screen it there another recovery screen with more options? I'm running clockwork 2.5
View 8 Replies View RelatedThis thread on XDA suggests that the GPS is working much better after the OTA. I find it hard to believe, as that wasn't listed as one of the fixes. But look at what people are saying:Epic 4g: DI07 GPS is fast and fixed! xda-developers
