Android :: Browser Redirected To Mobile Sites

Oct 14, 2009

OK so Android comes with this great web browser built in, but I've got a problem with it that is driving me nuts... there is no way to change the browser agent string so that it may be detected by websites as a full-featured browser and deliver desktop web page content rather than mobile browser content (You are redirected to ESPN's mobile site for example when browsing to www.espn.com). In Browser Settings I have Mobile view unchecked, but this does not affect being redirected to mobile content websites. I know some people probably prefer the mobile formatted content, but I wish it was at least an option so I could get to the true desktop version of a site if I wanted to.

Motorola Droid :: Get Browser To See Mobile Sites Instead Of Full Versions?

Jan 27, 2010

just bought my Droid on Sunday after the underwhelming Nexus One release. I'm using the Dolphin Browser and struggling to figure out how to get back to the mobile versions of sites. I know it was sending me to the mobile engadget site there at first, but lately I can only get to the full site. I'd really rather see the mobile one for loading time purposes. I remember on my Hero there was an option buried in the menu for this, but I can't find it on the Droid. Does it matter that I'm in Dolphin instead of the stock browser? And doesn't AndroidForums have a mobile version as well? Can't seem to get to that either.

Android :: Views And Their Child Views - How To Avoid The Ugly - Boxes - When Child Views In A View Has Another Color Than Background

Jan 6, 2010

I have a simple ListView and on that ListView I have placed a number of custom defined Views. The CustomView has ImageView and two TextViews.

The CustomView also has a "stateful drawable" as background, so that the background image (a 9-patch) changes if you press the Row in the ListView. When pressing the Row, the background image changes to a Red-ish thing.

The problem is that when the background changes from the default greyish, all the Views in the CustomView (ImageView and TextViews) still have their greyish background and thus creates very ugly greay boxes on top of the now redish background.

What is the best way to solve that problem? I hoped that such things were handled automatically (as it is done in for example .NET), but I was wrong it seems.

Android : Avoid Re-drawing All Views In An ArrayAdapter?

Mar 25, 2010

I have an ArrayAdapter powering a ListView. I would like to change the data behind the ArrayAdapter and update the ListView's. Sounds like notifyDataSetChanged(); would be exactly what I am looking for, but it updates the entire ListView, and I would prefer to update on a row-by-row basis.

Is there a way to do this with ArrayAdapter, or do I need to manage my data some other way if I want this functionality?

Android :: How To Cache Views And Avoid Calling OnCreate Everytime

Apr 27, 2009

With Android, I've got an application that seems calling "onCreate" every time on a new instance of an activity, because this activity is the son of an another and it finishes itself while it ends its role for one piece of data.

The calling of "onCreate" everytime seems to be re-parsing the xml to create the views and re-attaching/re-creating the listners to the code and so on. So Is there a way to "cache" an activity to be recalled everytime, without seeing it if we click on "back" in the mobile devie? it's like having it really hidden (not accessible with the back button) and destroyed only if it's necessary.

Samsung Epic 4G :: Uploading Data - Web Page Not Available

I will enter a shitload of data on a web page, be it a forum or facebook or whatever. When I click send, reply, post or w.e it then goes to a page saying web page not available. Sometimes I'm able to click back & all of what I just typed is there but there are times when its not. When its not it can get annoying. It used to happen on my moment all the time & its just as frequent on my epic. Its not going to cause me to dump the epic, but I'm thinking maybe browser related ?

Jelly Bean :: Browser Reverts Back To Home Page Or Previous Page

Apr 14, 2014

I have the tronsmart CX-919 mini pc running 4.2 and there is an issue with the browser reverting back to the home page or the previous page. When I try to display a webpage on our intranet it reverts back to the homepage or previous page after about 3 hours. I need it to display constantly. I read somewhere that it was a Download Manager issue and disabling it would work but I can't find where to disable it. Also it was stated that Flash was an issue but i tried uninstalling it and it just reinstalled itself and the problem kept occurring. I just want to display a page in a browser and for it to stay on the screen (full screen) until I manually navigate away from it. I plan to leave it on for weeks at a time.

Samsung EPIC 4G :: How Are AT&T / T Mobile Galaxy S Doing?

Aug 2, 2010

I quickly glanced at those forums, but didn't spend a whole lot of time reading. It seems some people had issues with defective phones that needed replacing, sometimes multiple times. I don't see that as ultimately a problem with the phone though, such as a design flaw that can't be fixed without more R&D.From time to time I see people posting something along the lines of "I'll never buy another Samsung product again" due to lack of support issues, or whatever, on some of the newer phone models. Personally, I had an i730 and it was the best phone you could get during its time.Has anyone closely followed what the AT&T and T Mobile Galaxy S owners are saying? The main gripe I've heard is that there's a GPS software issue for some users, but there's supposed to be a workaround, and supposedly a fix in an update.
