Android :: Disabling Mobile Sites In Dolphin
May 10, 2010
I'm pretty new to the Android scene but currently have a UK Hero 1.5 on Orange. I am wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction. I want to be able to go straight to the full website rather than be directed to the mobile version when loading a site in the Dolphin browser. I cannot see it in any of the setting menus.

How do I keep the browser from sending me to watered down "mobile" sites instead of the full blown site. For example m.si.com instead of the full sports Ill site. a couple sites just starting converting me to mobile without me wanting it.

OK so Android comes with this great web browser built in, but I've got a problem with it that is driving me nuts... there is no way to change the browser agent string so that it may be detected by websites as a full-featured browser and deliver desktop web page content rather than mobile browser content (You are redirected to ESPN's mobile site for example when browsing to www.espn.com). In Browser Settings I have Mobile view unchecked, but this does not affect being redirected to mobile content websites. I know some people probably prefer the mobile formatted content, but I wish it was at least an option so I could get to the true desktop version of a site if I wanted to.

I hate the fact that when browsing web sites, I'm always directed to the "mobile" (WAP) site if there is one! Just wondeirng if there is a way to keep the Droid X browser from loading mobile (WAP) sites? I don't care to be directed to mobile sites. I know with the HTC Droid Incredible, as well as many other Android smartphones (other than Motorola it seems) there is an option to disable mobile sites and get the actual web site like it would be displayed on a desktop computer.

Anyone figure out how to keep sites from automatically forwarding you to their mobile web version (like comedycentral.com)? The Aria can handle full web and I hate dealing with crippled sites. On my old WM phone there was a browser setting where I could have it be identified as a desktop and not a mobile browser. There is a setting for mobile view, but it doesn't seem to change anything.

I need to write an Android application that allows a user to connect to multiple social networking sites like MySpace, LinkedIn, FaceBook etc. and fetch friends list.
I know that most of these applications have Java libraries or functionalities exposed as REST based WebServices. But since there is a lot of variety and disparity in the ways that these libaries are written or service that can be consumed, is there any single, integrated service or middleware component that I can use to provide a unified interface in my mobile application?

Title pretty much says it all. When I try to load a website that has a Mobile site, like CNN.com, it always loads m.CNN.com no matter what I type in. Anyone tell me how to fix that?

just bought my Droid on Sunday after the underwhelming Nexus One release. I'm using the Dolphin Browser and struggling to figure out how to get back to the mobile versions of sites. I know it was sending me to the mobile engadget site there at first, but lately I can only get to the full site. I'd really rather see the mobile one for loading time purposes. I remember on my Hero there was an option buried in the menu for this, but I can't find it on the Droid. Does it matter that I'm in Dolphin instead of the stock browser? And doesn't AndroidForums have a mobile version as well? Can't seem to get to that either.

I switched to a Moment today and while setting things up Ive yet to locate where you disable "mobile versions" of websites. I had a Hero and there was a setting where you could disable the mobile view and see the natural version of a website.

With the Dolphin browser, is there a way to "force" a website to load as a FULL/normal/regular html website rather than as an m.site.com mobile website?
For example, when I try to navigate to eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices I am ALWAYS redirected to m.ebay.com
Is this a setting within the Dolphin Browser or is this controlled by the website itself??
I looked through the settings and could not find a preference to chose between mobile and "full html" site options

Question! I'm a big fan of the dolphin HD browser, but I can't seem to find a way to turn off 'mobile view.' There are lots of websites I like that won't let me see video if it detects I'm on a mobile device.
The stock browser has an option under settings to turn off mobile view, and it usually works.
Does dolphin browser have something similar? I can't seem to find it...

looked for an answer on quite a few threads and forums on this one.on my moto droid, there are a couple mobile sites that will not stream video, but work on my old omnia, and my brothers htc hero. ie break mobile, the onion, and a few random other ones. sometimes it will play one video, then every other video from that server gives a "video not eligable for streaming on this device" or similar error message. it seems odd to me that some mobile vids will work on a hero but not the droid? or is it just my phone? anyone else fed up with this?

I looked but could not find anything relating to this, so sorry if it is a repeat subject. When I look at apps in the market or appbrain, I read the reviews before getting them. It seems difficult sometimes because spammers run around to so many apps saying "Great, I got the full version at" and it is the exact same thing at dozens of other products.Does the market or appbrain ever monitor their sites for spammers?

When I am trying to download files from certain websites, including my school's website, the files attempt to download and complete almost instantly, usually with varying bytes or KB of data downloaded, not the full file. On my school's site I try to download a variety of file types including .pdf .doc .ppt and some .zip and it's the same thing with all of them, this has happened on several other sites as well, but usually I can download these file types without a problem. I am just wondering what could be causing this problem and if it is fixable.
