How do I properly set-up/use my mobile Hot Spot? When I turn my hot spot on my Epic, my computer will say it's connected but I can't get on the internet or anything. Is there something I'm not doing or something i don't know?

I see a Sprint Hotspot app on the Epic. What happens if you press it? Does it auto-activate the hotspot, or does it check to see if you have the add-on plan before it can be used?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've had my epic for a few weeks now and today was the first time I've tried to use the hot spot feature.I'm not rooted (and thus am still running on the stock Samsung image).I can successfully get my laptop to connect to the phone, yet I cannot connect to the interwebs through the phone.I have 4G turned on, but it will not connect when I have the hot spot turned on.Obviously I'm doing something wrong?4G can be turned on and will connect fine, then I can turn on the hot spot and it will disconnect.This is without me even connecting my laptop yet.What gives? Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a known issue and I've just not come across the thread that blatantly explains this?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI've got an HTC Desire which has a Mobile Hotspot App on it - so I can connect my laptop to the WiFi signal generated by my phone.I have "Unlimited Internet" with a fair-usage cap of 1GB. (such a farce, that use of the word unlimited, why don't they just say 1GB?)However, the terms and conditions explicitly disallow using the phone as a modem.My question is, can they tell, and if so, how? Surely the HTTP/HTTPS requests being sent out by the phone are exactly the same, regardless of whether it's coming from the phone or the laptop?If they aren't (perhaps some ID which says this is a phone as apposed to a different ID which will be sent by the laptop's browser), is there a way to make it look as if the requests being sent are coming from the phone?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI DL'ed and ran the unprovoked program. It did its thing and said done. it rebooted and looks exactly like it did before....questions:
1) how do I know if it is rooted and ready to go?
2) how to I make changes, like allow mobile hot spot and cool stuff like that?I wont even get into how I can add froyo, simple things first
I quickly glanced at those forums, but didn't spend a whole lot of time reading. It seems some people had issues with defective phones that needed replacing, sometimes multiple times. I don't see that as ultimately a problem with the phone though, such as a design flaw that can't be fixed without more R&D.From time to time I see people posting something along the lines of "I'll never buy another Samsung product again" due to lack of support issues, or whatever, on some of the newer phone models. Personally, I had an i730 and it was the best phone you could get during its time.Has anyone closely followed what the AT&T and T Mobile Galaxy S owners are saying?The main gripe I've heard is that there's a GPS software issue for some users, but there's supposed to be a workaround, and supposedly a fix in an update.
View 17 Replies View RelatedI didn't sync my contacts to gmail on my Instinct bc I've always just used Sprint's mobile sync. Contacts were automatically saved on the network, so when you bought a new phone or whatever, they could just send the contacts to your phone. Well, guess what! Epic doesn't support mobile sync. SO PLEASE BACK UP YOUR CONTACTS THROUGH GMAIL IF YOU WERE PLANNING ON RELYING ON MOBILE SYNC! Unfortunately, I don't have a "local" Sprint store. It will take more time to drive to one than to manually enter my contacts.

View 3 Replies View Relatedso I ending up having to do a Factory Reset (after only 3-days), and now I am having to input ALL my contacts again manually - After much searching on Google, I found that Sprint does offer a FREE backup service, however, it's NOT available on the Epic yet - I mean really?!? *rolls eyes* So, are there any other safe + free services out there to backup my contacts? I'd much rather use Sprint's Mobile Sync service, but that may be a ways off yet.

You'll notice that the browser now does, well, nothing. But hit your Menu key, choose the "More" option, then select Settings. Scroll down some, and you'll see a new collection of advanced options there, including a "UAString" option. Example, when I go to Ebay.com the web browser re-directs me to m.Ebay.com which is the mobile version of the web site.
Im using the standard browser, when I go into Settings > Advanced Settings -- Website Settings- View advanced settings for individual websites is greyed out
Does anyone know how to avoid getting mobile views (page) on web sites in the browser? I can't figure it out. My old HTC Hero had a way to not get the mobile versions..

I'm pretty sure my home screen would do landscape with keyboard closed the first couple of days I had the phone and now it wont do it unless the keyboard is out. Anyone else have the same issue?

A phone that I actually have been waiting for ever since the IPhone came out because I knew the technology would be where I wanted it to be for the most part (speed, HD, capacity, upgrade ability/customization.
