View 2 RepliesOne of the things I miss the most from my iPhone is being able to dial directly from my Calendar appointments. When I was discussing this in the Android Lounge, some people made it seem like they do that all the time. Does anyone here know if this can be set up some how on the Captivate. Or do you need to use a different calendar or something? By dialing direct I mean you are on the item in your calendar, and you can just click a number in the notes and the dialer comes up without having to copy and pasted the number over to the dialer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAs I recall, every review for the Captivate dings it for being hard to see the screen in direct sunlight. But is it just me, or is it not that bad? I've been using mine outdoors for running. That includes controlling the media player, switching to email to link to the map my running team emailed to us, and then referencing the map when so I knew where to turn. I'm not reading War and Peace with the reflection of the sun glaring off the screen, but all in all, I've found it pretty easy to use outdoors. What are your thoughts on real world outdoor SAMOLED usability?

View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone have the problem of their captivate USB cord barely staying connected on the phone's side? The sliding 'door' is all the way open but it seems like it barely is connected, and the slightest movement makes it fall out.

View 8 Replies View RelatedMy charging cable doesn't seem to plug all the way in when pressed. The phone charges fine, but I am wondering if that is the normal fit or not. It is almost like the sliding door doesn't open wide enough.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Android 3.2 and the Wifi direct works fine. The problem is, I'm trying to compile this sample but it says that the import "android.net.wifi.p2p" cannot be resolved.Well, if Android 3.2 supports Wifi Direct an actually I'm able to send files through this, why I'm not able to develop for this?
this error don't happen when the project is configured to run over Android 4.0.
Is it possible to have a Direct Wi Fi Connection between my Android device (Lg L5 e610) and my PC (Win7, Ubuntu 13.04, Mac OSx Snow Leopard)? Is there any tool or program to do it? Or at least a developement project (I like to be a tester)? I found some solutions for my question but they need to a router to work and i haven't it
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs Wi-Fi Direct Software or Hardware feature. Is there any possible way to connect to a Wi-Fi Direct device from a device with only Wi-Fi support without using Superbeam or other apps that use Wifi hotspot feature.
In Wi-Fi Direct specification, it is written that "Only one of the Wi-Fi devices needs to be compliant with Wi-Fi Direct to establish a peer-to-peer connection that transfers data directly between each other with greatly reduced setup."
When I try to use wifi direct to connect my galaxy nexus with other phone, the connection is made but I do not know how to transfer pictures or videos or files to other phone..
There is an app that do this ? I have to install that only on my galaxy nexus or I also have to install that to other phone ?
I have a SGS3 that I have rooted and running CM10...
stock I had 'S Beam' which was awesome. because my gf has sgs3 as well, and i was able to send her videos directly from my phone..
but now that I'm running CM10 and jellybean, I lost this feature on my end
I looked at the app store with keyword 'wifi direct' and came up empty handed.
phones worked good other then gps issue. recently after iv had the phone for 30 days it just stopped scanning for wifi access and wont turn on wifi at all.

How could i find wifi direct application ????
I just got a Netgear Push2TV 3000, which not only encompases WiDi, but Miracast support in this version.
From what my understand is though, is that both these WiDi and Miracast technologies are basically just wireless HDMI anyway.
My question is if it's possible to come up with a mod to work to allow any (or at least most) rooted phones with a ROM like CM that integrate Miracast into their settings for every build?
I did try doing just that with my droid 4 running CM 10,1 with its wifi direct setting..it said it was connecting, amazingly...but nothing else after that.
I was wondering if the 3G is not lit up and I don't have E the box or WI-fi, what the heck am I connected to? Seems that the 3G has a mind of its own, south FL. But if it's not on nothing else comes on either. Is this right? Now that I have my GPS fixed this goes out.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I first got my Captivate and turned on WIFI the WIFI symbol would pop up and take the place of the 3G symbol at the top but lately I've noticed that when I turn on the WIFI both symbols remain at the top.
I have the unlimited data plan so using up data is not a problem for me. I'm just worried about battery life. Is my phone using both at the same time? Is that even possible? How do I go about fixing this?
I can't seem to get a 3G connection, I just updated to 2 gigs today, how can I set it up?
View 2 Replies View RelatedNo connectivity at all on my Captivate. Wifi networks can't be saved, and the 3G symbol is up there, but there's nothing being transmitted or received. Should I do a factory reset? The phone part works, as does messaging, but nothing else.
View 27 Replies View RelatedI swear that WiFi seems to quit working half the time. I'll be browsing the web, it will quit working, and I can turn WiFi off and 3G works just fine. When I re enable Wifi, it works for a bit and then does it again. I'm on a 24MB/s Internet connection, and everything else wireless in the home works fine(my iPhone 4 works flawlessly).
View 11 Replies View RelatedI seem to be the only one having this particular issue with the Captivate. With a new sim card i have 3G, take it home and put it on wifi overnight, and the next day i cannot get 3G. have done reboot, soft reset, master reset, toggle flight mode off/on. The only thing that gets 3G back is another sim card. I have gone through 2 phones and 4 sim cards with this. Samsung support is scratching their heads, any ideas from the android community?
View 5 Replies View Relatedhow to do wifi tethering on the Captivate (preferably free)
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a new Samsung Captivate, and I can't keep the wifi off. No matter how many times I go to settings (or use the pull-down curtain), and switch off the wifi, within a minute or so, the wifi comes on again. It also turns itself off again periodically when this happens. I don't have any after market power manager installed. I suspect this may be down to an app, but have no idea where to start looking for the solution.
View 8 Replies View RelatedSomething new - under Wifi Settings / Advanced - I have Wi-Fi set to sleep when display is off. This doesn't seem to be the case. My WiFi is Always on. I would imagine that the icon would disappear like it does when WiFi is turned off, but when the phone is asleep and then wakes up, the WiFi connection is still there. Anything I can try to fix this? I have tried changing the WiFi sleep policy to the other 2, then changing it back to display power - didn't work. I did have to reboot the phone last night because I couldn't get WiFi to turn off, but I don't have a problem today with turning it on or off, just won't go to "sleep"
View 2 Replies View RelatedLast night my wife was trying to update her cached stations on slacker radio and although connected to wifi slacker gave a notification that the data would be downloaded over 3g and an unlimited plan was recomended. The strange thing is I had full strength connection to wifi but the 3g icon was still there and and the red and green arrows were showing data transfer over 3g. When connected to wifi on my captivate the 3g icon disappears. A simple power down fixed the problem and wifi was present and no 3g icon in the status bar.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've heard everyone mention that setting wifi to never sleep has helped battery life but I can't figure out where to find the controls for that policy.
