When I try to use wifi direct to connect my galaxy nexus with other phone, the connection is made but I do not know how to transfer pictures or videos or files to other phone..
There is an app that do this ? I have to install that only on my galaxy nexus or I also have to install that to other phone ?

How can I set my Galaxy Nexus to prefer WiFi for data over the Mobile Network? I have to go to settings, turn off "enable data access over mobile network," then cycle WiFi on-off several times before the phone will connect to my home router. Router has two channels, both a WPA2 encrypted one, and a "home guest" (open) one. Both show up as disabled until I cycle the WiFi off and on several times. There must be a setting to tell the phone to prefer WiFi -- no?

Recently bought a xperia z and i need to send him files around 2 gb.
I select a 200 mb press send from wifi direct on my s3 it finds the xperia z. I accept the message on the xperia z
But it doesn't send it it first loads around 3 minutes and than it says that it couldn't send the file

I just got a Netgear Push2TV 3000, which not only encompases WiDi, but Miracast support in this version.
From what my understand is though, is that both these WiDi and Miracast technologies are basically just wireless HDMI anyway.
My question is if it's possible to come up with a mod to work to allow any (or at least most) rooted phones with a ROM like CM that integrate Miracast into their settings for every build?
I did try doing just that with my droid 4 running CM 10,1 with its wifi direct setting..it said it was connecting, amazingly...but nothing else after that.

I've seen elsewhere there are possible issues with the Nexus 7 & also the Kindle Fire HD (which is/was an alternative for my wife) & could be down to 5ghz or 2.4ghz transmission on the router?

Well at schoolwifi seems to work finewell at least it used to it would connect perfectly now it connects and says athundicating or something like that ... I'm on a nexus 7 .. My iPod used to connect until the same thing happen ... My wifi just turned off and I though the schools was down but for then on I couldent connect... I'm guessing that they blocked me ... is their anyway to bypass this .... Note this is not a phone its a 7 inch tablet so I can't pull it out of my pocket and text lmao. I play games on spare time and research stuff at lunch or after school..

My nexus 7 has just - a week ago - started to give wifi hassles. I can go to youtube, or internet-based apps like AIB Banking app with no hassle. But I cannot go online with either google, chrome or google +. All that happens is that the search functions but I cannot get any webpage content. No error messages, hangs, anything. Just a blank white page with the website header and even logo.

View 24 Replies View RelatedMy main device is an HTC One M8, but I also have a Nexus 7 2013, Nexus 7 2012, Galaxy Nexus, and a Moto X running on the same Wi-Fi network. They are all experiencing some slow activity on Wi-Fi. I also have 2 desktop PCs and a Laptop running on the same network and they are running fine, no noticeable lag.
On all of my Android devices, browsing the web via Chrome is almost as snappy (but still not the speeds I get on data) as it is on my computers. However when it comes to certain apps, there is a noticeable slowdown. Instagram has a lot of trouble loading images, Facebook, Twitter, Play Store downloads are stupid slow as well. And a bunch of push notifications from those apps, as well as GMail, won't come through or will come through hours after they should have.
But if I just switch Wi-Fi off on the devices that also have a data plan running (Moto X, One M8, GNex) everything comes through as fast as expected.
Could it be my router? I have a Linksys E800.

When i click on flash a zip file the flash always fails?
At home I turn off my wifi when I go to work and when I turn it back on, my nexus 5 doesn't remember the password. My nexus S was the same. This recommends switching my router to WEP (it's currently WPA-PSK), however I'm not sure I actually CAN change this in my router settings. Shouldn't it just work anyway, or is it a router problem? Should I just stop turning off the router? This feels like it shouldn't be a problem: why can't the phone simply paste the password into the box for this specific router name & ID, rather than me typing it?

I did some research and it looks like apps can only turn off Pattern Lock when the phone is rooted. Is this true? View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a VZW Galaxy Nexus. On 4.1.2 I can tether my Xbox wirelessly with success. On 4.2.1/4.2.2 I can't anymore. All ROMs and kernels fail. No configuration I try anymore allows successful tethering. Xbox reports the error that it can't get an IP address.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get a friends Nexus 7 up and running. I recently rooted it and installed the custom recovery using my Mac with this guide while the tablet was on 4.3. All was well, but then my friend was given the option to install the 4.4 Kitkat update. After the update, the tablet has been unable to boot - it simply hangs at the startup animation. I am able to enter the recovery boot loader, and enter options to restore from a .zip, however I have no way of accessing the tablet's memory from my computer to put the original operating system back on it- although I think it could be done from Terminal, I am not well versed in command prompts.
