I can't find an answer. New smartphone user. On the Captivate how do you send short codes like 332211? When I try the phone puts a hyphen in the middle. So using Google and I guess even regular dial it won't go through.

On my old phone (unlocked iPhone),I subscribed to news and weather updates via SMS from a local radio station. The shortcode is 411923.Then I got Nexus One (same T-Mobile service and SIM) and still receive the messages from them. Well, one day, there was a big news day (chile earthquake?) and I was getting annoyed by them, so I was gonna reply with "STOP" like you do with most short codes.The Nexus absolutely refuses to even attempt to send this number a text. It won't even try. It immediately shows the "message failed <!>" notification and sound.I can send to various other shortcodes, but this and a few others, the Nexus won't try.I am sure I could get another T-Mobile phone and swap SIMs to do it from that phone.I am just wondering what is the problem?

I already have to do the make new phone contact thing to keep high resolution pictures. Anyway that is working fine however there are a few different places I get messages from short code services. Is it possible to give these shortcodes an icon WITHOUT having them show up in my contact list? So have an icon for messages from shortcode 65146 or whatever. I obviously don't want the shortcode to show up in my contact list since I would never call it or reply to it unless I wanna stop it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been having an issue with area codes and text messaging. The contact's number is stored properly xxx-xxx-xxxx in the contacts. But when he sends a text, it only shows up as xxx-xxxx, so when I reply, of course, it won't send because Nebraska is now on mandatory 10 digit dialing. So then I have to compose a new message instead of just replying in the current thread.
I had this issue at first, but only with the numbers entered in as (xxx) xxx-xxxx. So I made sure to change every number to xxx-xxx-xxxx and it seemed to fix it for a while at least.
Ive been stalking the forums for a few weeks, reading up on all the issues and things associated with this phone and i can say ive experienced most of them (excluding rooting issues, i havent rooted).
*(of course) gps issues
*phone spontaneously shuts off and battery has to be removed before it will turn back on
*randomly awakes itself from sleep just to display the lock screen
*painfully short battery life
*no signal for a long time, have to restart phone several times before it returns.
These have all plagued me horribly the past month or so. then today it decided it wanted to....::gasp:: behave?
My battery still had half its life left when i got home tonight and its usually dead or yelping for a charge by that time (activity/usage the same today too). pages loaded quickly today and i had a signal all day.
I am wondering if anyone else is having problems with their Samsung Captivate sending picture messages. THEY WON'T send! This is the 2nd phone I've had because the other one was having "seizure like activity" and this is the new one I got yesterday and it STILL WILL NOT send picture messages. I tried directly from the pictur and also by creating a new message and attaching the file.

View 30 Replies View RelatedI am trying to send an animated GIF as an mms. I have tried both going in and creating a new message, then attaching the gif file, as well as viewing the file in the gallery, then selecting send/messaging.
Neither will work. When I attach it, it says file type is not supported. When I try to send it from the gallery, it converts it to a still image. I am attaching the gif file in hopes that someone here is smarter than me.
After messing with the settings and tryna figure this out, I think I came to a conclusion. When I set the camera setting on the phone to 3.2MP and the Picture quality to Normal, I was able to send an MMS Picture message over the EDGE network. I started trying to figure this out when I download FXCamera and noticed that it would send an MMS over EDGE. So I went into the settings on that program. I noticed the smaller picture with less quality sent, and the better quality picture didnt send. And I waited, and waited, and waited and still nothing.
So I put on the Default Camera App. I had it set to Super Fine and 5MP. I could never send an MMS picture that way. Switched the settings....3.2MP and Picture quality to Fine, and Bam. The picture sent. Give it a shot, tell me how it works out for you.
Everything was OK yesterday but now I.can't send SMS! Any settings I can change to fix this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had my Captivate since day one and i love it the only thing that bugs me is that if i have a pic taking portrait anytime i send it or upload to facebook it automatically changes it to landscape view and the same when recieving pics i go in and manually edit the pics so when i go to my gallery it shows them in portrait but anytime i try and send it never fails goes straight back to lanscap anyone else have this prob?

I have tried TSL, SSL (both regular and accept all certs) login and no login and a few other settings. Done 2 battery pulls and re composing the message countless times. It just stays in my outbox. WiFi on and off. When I go into the outbox, I press on the "Send outgoing messages button" and it blinks like I pressed it, but it doesn't immediately try to send the email, have to wait another 2-4 minutes before it decides it wants to try and connect to the server. When it does finally try to send the email it tries for about 30 seconds then comes back with "connection error" and gives up. Also none of my email accounts will automatically check for email like I have them set to do. I have them set to check every 5 minutes and it seems like some check every 4 hours and others will only manually check. Its inconsistent at best.
The email issues for this phone are really making me regret the purchase.
I was playing around with my settings and changed my smsc number. Now I cant send texts! Is there a way to find out what my original number was, a way to reset it, or a way for me to send text again?

Now when I close out of the text message and try to go back and serbs something the persons number shows up as only 7 digits. When I try to send a text with only the 7 numbers I get a return error message saying
8852662 Error Invalid Number. Please re-send using a valid 10 digit mobile number.
Pattern code any way to bypass this code. Wife locked it. She has about 20 email forgot which one she used. Only incoming calls can be received.

Is it just me, or is this happening to anyone else? Every once in a while, a song, weather it be Pandora or an MP3, will end well before the actual end of the song. Like it skips the last 2 minutes of the song, and moves on to the next one. It seemed like it happened a bunch of times one day, but I haven't had it happen again but once or twice. Whats up?
View 1 Replies View Related1. I am not able to run USSD codes on my GalaxyS-I9000. Whenever I dial any USSD it says "USSD Code Running" and then it disappears, nothing happens after this.
2. Every time after I hung up a call in my old cell/any other cell it use to show the balance amount I have (prepaid card) and last call cost, but in my GalaxyS its not showing anything after the call.
I am trying to increase my volume for the handset. I have the original factory codes set at:
0 = -16db
1 = -12db
2 = -8db
3 = -4db
4 = 0
5 = 4
When I go into the master settings to change the RX volume codes, I can not figure out how to make a negative number. Can someone help me get in the right direction to change the volume settings? My volume is so low, I can barely hear when on the phone.
