okay so with the x coming up to order soon im going to be paying full retail for the x since I sold my dinc and when I ordered that onlline i used promo code freeovernt for the free over nite shipping..but i also bout a week later called for a credit and used promo code smart30 to save 30 bucks on ordering a smartphone upgrade. question is does anyone else know of any coupon or promo codes for this thursday? need my droid X!

I'm a Pre user that is in envy of everyone that has an EVO. I will likely get the phone in the coming weeks and plan to go through Best Buy so I can avoid the $100 mail-in rebate plus i have some rewards zone certificates to apply towards it. Unfortunately Best Buy in Utah does not carry Sprint phones, but of course I can order online.

However, I do not see where it offers me the option to "upgrade" as I am going to be using my NE2 $100 credit. Towards the end of the online purchase it only asks me if I would like a new number or if I am transferring from another service. What am I doing wrong?

Background; I am in the process of writing an Android messaging application that needs to know the current user's phone number. This is then used to connect to other users using the application. My application relies on looking up the user's number from Android's Settings -> About Phone -> Phone identity -> Phone number (this can at times be blank.. but that is a separate problem). I am assuming that the above Phone number contains the user's full number. ie, my UK Android phone shows my number as: +447832xxxxxxxx, where 44 is the UK's international dialing code and 7832 is the operator. Is it safe to assume that all Androids phones would include the international dialing code, which starts with +? I would be indebted if any Android users could have a quick look at their Android settings and confirm whether Phone number is displayed as +international code+operator+number, i.e. US Android sets start with +1xxxxxx.

I am sending text to my app through a QR code via calling barcode scanner with an intent from my app.
Let s say I generate 2 QR codes. #1 passes "Frank" #2 passes "Upfront".
This is no problem, but what happens if someone scans the QR code with the barcode scanner on it's own? They will be presented with the text "Frank". Useless.
Can I have it link to the android market if they do not scan from my app? And if they do, it passes the string?
The only other option that I see is to have it present a message: "Go download my app, Frank" and remove the "Go download my app" from the string if it is passed to my application.

I'm trying to find the colour codes (ie hex, RGB(A) etc) for the Holo themes in Ice Cream Sandwich. I see that from the Android Developers website that they are defined in constants, but I need to get the actual values for use elsewhere. I've been searching like crazy for hours and the best I can do is a page that I can't even show you because I'm still a noob on the forum!
I have some values, but I wanted to match them up to the R.color documentation.

I would like to execute opcodes directly against the running Dalvik VM instance from within my application on Android. I'm looking for something similar to the C asm function. I have a list of opcodes for dalvik, but I am unfamiliar with how to either execute them directly, or write them out to .class files and execute them against some sort of VM CLI command like dalvikvm from within a running application.

I mean that, I want to read QR code from my android software (not from QR code reader software) , then I want to get information behind the QR Code and than I want to connect and fetch some data from a database according to that information.
While developing such a android application, may I import QR code reader software jar file and can I access its api, if it is possible of course?

Lately (last 3 weeks) I've been getting those prompts to copy a word code in order to access my gmail. i get three of them actually. I'm assuming it's because i have three gmail accounts set up on my phone. i don't know if these prompts are for syncing or accessing my gmail. all i know is they're random, never at startup, and not necessarily prompted by anything specific that i do,,,like trying to get into email or something. they just pop up.
They're accompanies by an orange exclamation mark in the top notification bar. it has never occurred to me until now as i post, to pull down the notification to see what it's about.
