Samsung Captivate : Sideload Wonder Machine For Mac?
Aug 5, 2010Okay, so I downloaded the Android Central Sideload Wonder Machine for the Mac, and it is a file called swm-install.sh. When I clicked on it, it opened up as a text file. I tried renaming it swm-install.command and it wouldn't open saying that I didn't have the priveleges/permissions, even though I unlocked it in the Get Info Window.
I tried using Platypus to make it run as an application...but I'm unsure how to get that working. I don't understand terminal and coding, although I'm willing to learn new things. How do I get this to work?
I need detailed instructions for a novice?

Nov 5, 2009Still missing winmob a little. Just bought Docs to go so I can use excel pdf and word docs. What's the Android equivalent of Activesync ie. synchronizing a folder of files on the device with files on my laptop? Love all the multimedia stuff and the really nifty compass, flashlight and metal detector. Just feel like I'm missing the meat and potatoes of a productivity device.
How about an app to sync photos, tasks, notes and hotmail (I hate the pop mail crap, no folder sync). Can hotmail be sent through gmail like in the sticky? AK note looks great, but I think it's pointless if it lives and dies on just the Android device. Slightly frustrated with the learning curve and my battery going for hours on 3 % with no backlight!

Jul 21, 2010Had no problem getting my phone to play nice with our exchange server at work and emails are coming/going fine.
However, there are some configuration items I have a big issue with as it relates to the 'look' of the email (coming from a BlackBerry).
1. Is there any way to have a single folder show my received items and sent items combined? My BB had this and it was very useful.
2. How can I edit the way my folders are displayed at the top horizontal bar? The sidescrolling folder display is awkward, it puts my inbox first (good) but then all subsequent folders are listed alphabetically; it pays no attention to their order on my desktop and also shows sub-folders of other files. Any way to change this?
3. Is there a way to change the way emails show as unread? The difference b/n read and unread is only a shade of grey, and difficult to see outside.

Oct 16, 2010Well, I am sure that at some point in time you all have sent a video but I am trying to figure out why I can't send videos. Last night, I was performing at a night club and I wanted to send the videos to friends and what not so they can hear our singing. However, the video clips are anywhere from 8-20 seconds long and they are not in HD quality but 3gp. Yet it tells me the message can't be attached because it's too large.
Today I had a show, and my brother recorded me and I wanted to send the video out and it still says the same thing. Is there anything I can do? I love At & T but I am wondering does this have anything to do with their Data cap because when I had my Droid X and Incredible on Verizon. I was able to send videos up to 30 seconds long to phones via MMS but I can't send videos on my Captivate. I couldn't send videos either on the Xperia X10, I had, the aria I had, and now the backflip. (I am just using it because I love motoblur for the social networking, not the phone).

Jul 21, 2010I attempted to import my contacts from my old HTC Touch Pro phone by using an application to export them to a .csv file, then importing them into a gmail account. That part all worked fine. However, when I linked the gmail account and synced up the contact information, there are a couple of problems. First and most important, its not bringing over all of the information. It brought over the contact name, but when you tap on the name, it only shows a gmail link and none of the other information. Second, gmail is using only the first name for the full contact. example: the contact it titled 'George' instead of the person's full name like "Butler, George'. How can I fix these two issues?

Aug 29, 2010Let me start by saying that I absolutely love the Captivate- it's my first Android phone- been using Symbian phones for 6 years and have had an ipod touch for all the apps. I'm used to good headphones- having owned upper level Sonys and Ultimate Ears. The set that comes with Captivate is fairly mid grade- not awful, but not great either. I've been looking at aftermarket headsets with microphone and there are very few models advertised as compatible with Android phones, but tons of choices for iPhone.I see that many posters here own(ed) iPhones.Do the iPhone headset with microphone work with Captivate as expected? Are there possibly mic sensitivity issues, or some other things I should look out for? Looking to get a set in the $70-$120 range so that I can enjoy my mostly lossless music library.

When I did the "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" step no update.zip file was created in the internal SD root. Buried in the clockwork mod folder is recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.2-captivate.zip, do I move this and rename it?

Oct 6, 2010I am unable to install the USB drivers for Windows XP - I have downloaded the correct zip file, but the drivers are marked as being detrimental to Windows XP somehow and they just won't install. Aug 25, 2013I was going to get a new rom for my galaxy s3 mini, I made a complete wipe, formatting system/cashe/data, then I was going to install rom but I pressed "Install zip from sideload" instead of "install zip from sd card".
In short I'm thinking that if I remove battery my phone will be dead until I can get a comp and flash thru that, so I don't want to do that. How do I stop this request?
