I have contacts set up on my phone and am trying to sync them to my google account but it doesn't seem to be working. I have gone into the settings and to account and sync, It shows the correct account in the "manage accounts" section. When I click on the manage accounts it shows that it is syncing contacts, gmail, and calendar.why it is not syncing. It is not syncing my calendar either.

I have a Samsung Captivate, but I think this issue is only dealing with the Android Operating System and Gmail. I have a Gmail Account, Facebook Account, and a University Email Account that I pull my contacts from. All three of them are synced with my phone. The University Email uses Gmail and Google apps. I am trying to figure out a way to sync all my contacts in one place, preferably my normal Gmail account. I understand that you can't auto-sync Facebook contacts to Gmail, but I would like to sync the contacts that I've added to the phone to my Gmail Account.

View 27 Replies View RelatedI was looking at my upgrade options and total pricing with regard to the Captivate. When I added the phone as an upgrade, not only did it not make me choose a data plan, it didn't even give me a choice to pick a data plan (at the moment I have just minutes and texts). Is this an error on the ATT system or you can get the phone and the data plan is only set up once you use the phone?
Because what I am thinking is upgrading 2 lines on my family plan - my line with an iPhone which requires data when you purchase the phone, and the Samsung on the line that will not get Data. I will only use one phone (the Samsung on my line) and sell the iPhone brand new in box. Will that work or will ATT realize when I only have one phone in use on my plan even though I 'upgraded/renewed' two lines?
So everything I read has been from back in Sept. and I just wan't to make sure I'm not doing something wrong. Media Hub doesn't work on the Captivate right? In the sense that it tell's me it's not supported in my country (USA)... Or is there something wrong with my phone?

a) Speaker doesn't work in call (very weak). works well in ringtones etc.
b) Scrolling contacts by letter doesn't work.
Other than that this is a leap forward, especially with the overclock options!
Both bugs, as well as others, fixed in 1.6.3.1 update!
I poked around the site (here and XDA) and didn't find anything that said there was an issue with syncing a bluetooth headset(s). I'm not running any lagfixes (at least nothing enabled via rom-manager for now) and I have a jawbone headset. Has anyone else had this problem, and could I have borked bluetooth with an app/user-data restore (Titanium)?

I had problems with my PC (Vista) recognizing the phone but now it seems to be working but I don't know if I should just drag and drop my music files to the droid or if I need to use a program to sync it. I have media money but it doesn't seem to be syncing up with my phone. I also would like to know if there is an app that would work better then the AT&T music player which I have read sucks.

yes i do get my new emails..but after i try to clear it all out it just pops back up again and again...i even went online and cleared everything out...still does it...
I want to keep itunes for now since I have my podcasts subscribed as I like them. I keep seeing that I should use isyncr if I want to continue to use itunes but do I need an SD card before I starting syncing my podcasts/music to my captivate? Or can't I just use the on board memory to store the podcasts/music?

Most of my music on my phone's stock player has been synced to my sd card is showing as unsupported files. I even have tracks from one album showing unsupported while the other 10 work fine. All are mp3 files. What am I doing wrong? I imported my itunes library or at least I thought I did. Can someone please explain to me step by step how to get my itunes files to media player and then to my Capitvate sd card? I'm about to pull my hair out after working on it for over 4 hours. I really don't understand all the technical terms most forum users are throwing about.

Both internal and 32GB were mounted in Finder. Should I have unmounted the internal storage? Or is something else appropriate? What about copying the Music folder from the internal to the 32GB?

View 1 Replies View RelatedBeing new to Android with the Captivate, I didn't really understand how the syncing with outlook would work. This is what works for me.
1. I keep all my contacts, calendar, and appts. on Outlook on my home PC, so I downloaded the Google Calendar Sync that runs in my system tray.
2. I logged into the Google account and clicked on having Outlook being the main and moving info to Google. I then set the minutes to 10 between syncing.
3. The app will then upload calendar, contacts, and tasks to Google (I only had Yahoo before).
4. My phone settings has Google set to automatically update, after a few more minutes, you will see all the uploaded information sync to your phone.
5. If I am not home, and I now have my Google Calendar Sync set to 120 minutes and that both website and Outlook are combined. I can then enter something on my phone, new contact, or whatever and when I get home it is sitting in my outlook.
Its not reinventing the wheel by any means. But I really struggled on the learning curve so if this helps someone knew great.
OK, i dont know how to, but for the life of me iv tried every possible way to add a photo from my gallery to some of my friends on my contact list but it wont let me theirs just no clean cut way that i can see, so if someone know how to please let me know, i tried syncing it with my facebook but half my friend have wrong numbers and its getting farking annoying.

It's only doing a one-way sync - events from my Google calendar are syncing to my phone but events created on my phone are not syncing to my calendar.
Is there a setting that I'm missing somewhere?

The Swype Keyboard on my wife's Captivate is not working correctly. The SYM button and the one to the left of it are blanked out - meaning they are just black boxes and clicking/pressing them does nothing. She has had to switch to the default keyboard and she hates it.Any idea what is going on and how to fix this?
View 12 Replies View Relatedwell , finally made the switch and got an android phone , very happy with my galaxy s, apart from 1 major issue i can't get my phonebook/contacts to sync with my in car bluetooth system. I can make and receive calls faultlessly , but definately have to be able to access my contacts hands free. every time i try to re-pair it it offers an option to share contacts, but does not work once paired .Can anyone more technically savvy than myself offer any ideas / help , unless i can get this to work the phone will have to go back

But this does not happen, as I refresh the sync manually, it says it has synced but obviously the contacts list in my phone and Gmail at the web are totally irrelevant. For example I merged some contacts in Gmail contacts but this does not show up in the phone even though it shows to be syncing over the air. View 1 Replies View RelatedDropped my Samsung S2 into water and it was not at all salvageable. To my shock I wasn't using a micro SD nor are my data as SYNCED at I thought they were - basically I lost all my contact numbers. I borrowed another S2 so I'm still using Android.
My question is, in order not to lose all my painfully re-built-in-progress contacts, how do can I save numbers that will be synced to my gmail account? here's my actual question:
I was asked where to save the new entries I put in, thinking in terms of syncing I chose to save to google. HOWEVER, google synced with the existing contacts i have with GMAIL. I.e. I can't locate a friend's contact card without having to dig through a WHOLE list of email addresses, e.g. some random inquiry email address that was a one off and i will NEVER use again.
HOW can i separate the two? My objective: save contacts somewhere which can be autosynced so my contacts can be retrieved in case phone dies again/to make it available for syncing on any new device/just as a reassuring back up - WITHOUT mingling them with gmail contacts (i.e. pure email addresses not phone numbers) .
Another observation, if you are still reading, a friend sent me some contact cards via whatsapp, and despite having chosen to save contacts by default to google (instead of sim/SD), those contact cards are saved on the phone. What's my best option? Thinking of getting S4 and seriously, manually putting everything in again is unthinkable, almost an insult to smartphones...
If i may side trek further, when i lost all my data, my calendar events were the only thing I have "sync-saved". For whatsapp history (from where ppl who thought i used an iphone said) it is saved on icloud so all the conversations will be kept intact AND from whatsapp u can make out a lot of the numbers. Instead for android there's not syncing with a cloud for whatsapp, now I have fired up whatsapp again I get these "Shell" group chats with no history and just several numbers which i dunno who's who. If android users can benefit from background saving of whatsapp history ONLINE (and not inside the phone i.e. like me lost when sth abrupt happens?)
This is a weird problem but when my calendar syncs it syncs all the events but they are all several hours later than they are on my Google Calendar on my computer. I'm looking at my phone and my computer right now, and all the events are here except all events on my phone are pushed back. Any ideas?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't remember how I did it, but I was somehow able to upload all the photos that I've taken with the camera to Picasa. Now I have quite a few videos in there as well, but I do remember a message saying that videos are not supported by Picasa and that only the photos would be uploaded. I'm now trying to do the same thing, but whenever I choose the entire 'Camera' folder to upload to Picasa, the only 'Share' options are YouTube, Gmail, and Bluetooth. Does anyone know how I may have done that the first time, or a way to sync photos from the gallery to Picasa web albums?

Is something wrong with just the app or phone? Has anyone experienced this?
I've got a Galaxy S and am really pleased with the phone generally except the contact management is really frustrating. In particular I can't seem to sync my Google contacts groups. The contacts themselves sync ok but they are all grouped under Google in the groups dialogue. There doesn't seem to be any way for me to add them to groups I create on the device or to get the groups that are in my Google contacts to display. Annoyingly if I try to create a group on the device with the same name as a group in my Google contacts it tells me that a group of that name already exists even though it won't display that group on the phone.
