Aug 3, 2010Is anyone else finding that their keyboard lags when typing moderately quickly? I am using the Android keyboard and for the life of me I can not type "might" without it hiccuping and only getting "miht", "miht", "miht".
I've turned off the suggestion bar, auto-completion, and system sound...but still the keyboard is awful. It has been the same way with both of the Captivates that I've had.

Jun 1, 2010Is there any app that allows you to change the order in which words appear in my predictive text list, or completely delete one? It annoys me that everytime I try to type 'as' I get 'BS', even when I never remember typing that in a message.

Jul 30, 2010I am using Facebook app on my new samsung captivate. I have set the refresh interval at 30 minutes. and notifications checked (active). i have chosen messages, Pokes, Friend Requests and event invites all checked green under notification settings. For some reason, whenever i receive a friend request, i dont get notified under my notification bar. I always see that when i open the application. I was hoping to get notification without opening the app. do i need to do something to fix this? Or am i missing something very basic here.

Jul 21, 2010Day 2, now everytime I try and connect the MTP Application screen pops up, then crashes, then pops up again, then crashes, and continues to do so until I unplug. Has anyone else experienced this and fixed it?
Changing the USB setting to anything else, such as Mass Storage, works fine.
I've tried on Windows 7 and WinXP with the same result. Drivers are already on the computer from the first time.
Samsung Captivate :: Any Compatible WiFi Tethering Application?
Jul 27, 2010I have rooted my captivate and downloaded Barnacle, both the legacy and the beta version and both are discoverable from my laptop and ipod touch but none of them can actually connect, I went through all the settings and played around to no avail. I then tried "wireless tether" app which I can't seem to find in appbrain to link but the icon is the WiFi signal strength bar in green if that helps, the only thing this app does is say wi-fi tethering is on but the device doesn't show up at all. My question is are there ANY wifi tethering apps that are currently compatible with a rooted Captivate?

Jul 19, 2010I have been using a Samsung Captivate on AT&T for about 10 days now. Ive had the email client break 3 times during the last week. I can see all the headers and even send email. If I try to open an email and read it, I get an error (The application Email (process.com.android.email) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
The only way that i have been successful in getting it to work again is to perform a "reset to factory default" which looses everything! I saw posts from Nexus owners that say you can delete email data but that doesnt help on mine. I initially thought it was caused by downloading apps from the market. I've gone 6 days without getting any new apps or updating existing ones and I just got hit with the email error again... I have both my gmail and exchange email accounts active on teh phone.
Samsung Captivate :: Shutdown While Charging Due To Buggy Application
Aug 9, 2010I have suffered the shutdown while charging and have traced it to a battery charge indicator app. I would charge the battery at night and the next morning it wouldn't restart without pulling the battery. This occurred concurrently with installing a battery charge indicator app. I uninstalled the app and now the problem has disappeared. My unabated installation of apps has now stopped. I am now convinced that the app world is full of bugs and crap. I bet half the problems that folks have are due to unvetted apps being used. I am now trying to figure out how to properly screen them before I install them and inherit a fatal bug in the process.

Jul 21, 2010I attempted to import my contacts from my old HTC Touch Pro phone by using an application to export them to a .csv file, then importing them into a gmail account. That part all worked fine. However, when I linked the gmail account and synced up the contact information, there are a couple of problems. First and most important, its not bringing over all of the information. It brought over the contact name, but when you tap on the name, it only shows a gmail link and none of the other information. Second, gmail is using only the first name for the full contact. example: the contact it titled 'George' instead of the person's full name like "Butler, George'. How can I fix these two issues?

For example, its common that someone wants to tinker with my phone because they have never seen it. I don't want the messing around in my messaging center, gmail, etc. But the general phone lock is not enough. I want to specify certain apps and functions that will require password or gesture. I found "ES Security manager - application protector" in the market. It worked okay for a day, now its buggy. When I go to a locked app and put in my password. Now it goes to the protector settings instead of the application. Also, it can easily be killed from a task manager app. I need a good solid app that will do this for me.

Aug 19, 2010I figured I would throw my 2 cents in on my battery performance. I was mildly disappointed after the first week of use with my phone. It was without a doubt worse than my old iPhone 3g. I expected this due to larger screen, running widgets, ect. so I am not complaining. However, a couple days ago I downloaded the Set CPU app from the marketplace and set it to minimum every time the screen turns off. The difference is amazing, I have not charged since 7:30am yesterday and just now at 340 I plugged it in, it was around 5% left.
I really wanted to push it and see how much more I could get but I don't want it to die on me tonight, im going to a baseball game so I don't want to be stuck without it.As far as usage, I spent about 45 talking over bluetooth, I have sent about 15 texts and received about the same. I checked Twitter a few times, for a few mins each time. Spent about an hour browsing web, and downloaded a couple apps from the market. Before this I was charging my phone after an 8 hour day at work and had almost no juice left. YMMV but for me this has been well worth the 2 bucks.

Is there a way to either group or create groups of them and then set one of those groups up as the contact default? I know some phonebook apps probably do this but are limited in their information. I am looking for the full contact info (with phone numbers) and then isolate those I use frequently into such a group.

Its a case of trying to insert the cursor by the error and then backspacing. This can be quite tricky. Or is there another way to do it? On my laptop there are directional arrows which allow me to take the cursor back through the text without deleting letters on the way. Is there an equivalent on the phone keypad?

Oct 8, 2010I love using swype: quick and efficient. But in some programs I use (e.g. Tasker / Jotro) the swype keyboard pops up when I click a text field (as it should), but if I'm done, sometimes it shows a "done" button on the swype keyboard itself (and when I click on that, the swype keyboard dissappears), but sometimes, there isn't a done key on the keyboard (only an enter key which gives a new line in the text field I'm editing) and I can't scroll in the program to the save/done button in the program itself to save what I just typed. Does someone know whether there is a quick way to get rid of the Swype keyboard after I finished typing?
My (frustrating workaround) is to go to Swype options, press back, and the swype keyboard is gone.
