I read somewhere that this phone can't be connected to a Mac using USB. Of course physically it can.. but I mean to download stuff onto the phone. Is this true?

When I plug my captivate into my PC to charge, its says MTP Application at the top, shows a usb cord image and says "connected". it is charging but i cannot get to the homescreen or any other functions.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI do not have or use and SD card...only the internal memory. When I'm not connected to a PC it recognizes this. All of my ringtones and notifications are present.
When I connect to a PC, though, the phone seems to want to only use the SD memory. I can't see my custom tones, all applications want to use SD memory, and apps only want to download new info to a non-existent SD card.
Is there a way to change this behavior? It's driving me nuts. When I'm connected to my PC and my phone rings...it uses a default tone. The first time it happened I had no idea what the sound was.
Trying to follow instructions to sync the music on my Captivate with i-tunes on my PC. Using the "Know Your Cell" website instructions, but I can't get the option to mount my device in order to write from the I-Tunes agent to the device.

I decided to upgrade to the vibrant 9 rom... the phone works except if i plug in the USB... it reboots and the battery charger attempts to charge then 1sec later it reboots again, and again and again.
I want to connect this to USB so I can use Odin and restore the original ROM. Has anyone experienced this? Any advice?
I posted this earlier but it disappeared? When the phone is unplugged, it says USB connected, and all of the icons are missing from the top of the homepage (time, signal strength, 3g, etc). The pull down menu is also hard to pull down then is real jerky when it does pull down. When the phone is plugged in, it has the signal for the USB and all the icons return, It also shows a full battery, then tho it is not.

This is my third phone and I'm staying to give up. A little while ago I plugged my phone into included wall charger and for some reason the phone thought it was a computer. It even said "usb connected". It also have me the option to mount it, which I did. I reset my factory settings and the same thing. So,I disconnected my wall charger and noticed that the usb connector wasn't completely on, so I never it a gentle push to secure it and now I don't have that same issue. Has anyone else experienced this? I didn't unmount the phone since I figured that out doesn't matter since it's not plugged in to an actual computer.

Lately, I've noticed it has been having connection issues. I start the hotspot, my laptop "sees" it. And I can connect (shows "connected" in the wifi window next to "FoxFi" on laptop). But, at the top of the same wifi window, it also shows (under "Currently connected to:"), "No internet access" (or something - connected right now on different wifi network, so I can't get the exact wording). But I hope this is clear.
Why this weird contradiction? One part of the window says I'm connected, the other says I'm not.

Noticed something weird, when i went to bed last night it was at 50% battery, turned the phone off and plugged it in figuring it would charge overnight. however when I turned it on this morning the battery was at 10%. Not sure if this was just a fluke or not (i'm assuming fluke since I don't see any other posts on it). Can't see why it wouldn't of charged, let alone drain the battery.. any ideas? I can assure you it was off all night.So does this phone only charge when on? Something specific to Android or just a fluke maybe something i should think about a return trip to at&t for? I saw this on a Captivate at the ATT store and it didn't look like there was a way to hide it. This would definitely keep me from upgrading from my current version, 4.3.0. For the specs of Captivate (1.0Ghz Processor, 512MB ram), Most of the games out there are just pitiful I don't know whether that's the result of lack game developers on Android or programmers today don't know how to optimize, I used to play way better games on a Pentium MX 166Mhz computer with 32MB ram (Quakes, Red Alert, C&C, Diablo just name a few so you know I am not bull shiting).

I am following instructions from this page Captivate Root I renamed the file update.zip and everything.
