View 16 RepliesSo, got my Captivate yesterday.. first Android device (and loving it). Noticed something weird, when i went to bed last night it was at 50% battery, turned the phone off and plugged it in figuring it would charge overnight. however when I turned it on this morning the battery was at 10%. Not sure if this was just a fluke or not (i'm assuming fluke since I don't see any other posts on it). Can't see why it wouldn't of charged, let alone drain the battery.. any ideas? I can assure you it was off all night. So does this phone only charge when on? Something specific to Android or just a fluke maybe something i should think about a return trip to at&t for? Gona see what happens tonight when I do the same thing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis has happened to me on three occasions so far. I'm using the charger and cable it came with. This morning I woke up to grab my captivate and it was really hot! The first few times it happened was concerning and maybe I thought the screen didn't timeout, but this time when I picked it up I noticed the screen wasn't on and the phone was blazing hot and it wasn't even at 100%. The other times I would turn it off and let it cool down and by the end of the day would put it back on the charger and it would be fine till another couple of days then it would do it again. It just started two weeks ago and now in thinking of exchanging it for another. Has Anyone else had this problem? Should I return it? I don't think a phone should be this hot while charging. I can understand a little warm but not HOT.
View 6 Replies View RelatedOkay this has me really stumped. I'm trying to listen to mp3s on my Captivate while it charges via the USB charging. When I try to use either Doubletwist I get the message "connected to computer and please eject the phone". When I try with the music player I get the message "SD card is being used as a mass storage device". I get these message if I have my phone hooked to a PC to charge, in my car or even plugged into a wall socket. Any idea why I can't charge it and listen to my mp3s at the same time?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Captivate and I was wondering is it OK to leave the phone ON all night while it plugged in Charging? Can doing this cause any Battery damage?
I have had the phone since yesterday and notice that when the phone is charging (USB or wall) and I'm trying to do stuff(surf the internet or play with any of my programs), the phone does crazy stuff. It will just start executing the search and other buttons on my phone without me even touching them. The phone doesn't appear to do this when it's not charging. Another problem I've noticed is that the capacitive buttons on the bottom are unresponsive in general. I'll sometimes have to hit the back button a couple times for it to recognize that I hit it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs it just me, or has anyone noticed that if you use any other USB cable aside from the one provided, that your Captivate only charges up to 50%? I tried using the sync cable from my old Nokia (which is that same USB A type to mini B like the Captivate), plugged into the Samsung wall charger, and even after a full night of being on the charger, the battery indicator was only at 50%! What's the deal with that!? The other thing to note is that, when I use the Samsung cable and the Samsung charger, it just charges, like what you'd expect. But if I say, use my Samsung charger, and the USB cable instead, it prompts me with the same question you get as if plugging into a PC (Mass Storage, Kies, Media player, etc.)What's going on re?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've had the captivate for about a week now and I haven't noticed much improvement on the battery life. I have discharged/recharged the battery a few times and nothing much has changed. The main issue is that overnight, the phone will go from 100% charge to 75/80% charge. I only have wifi on; bluetooth, gps, sync are all off. I also kill all applications except for a battery status notifier and the sms application.I have noticed, though, that when I sometimes open the task manager I find applications that are open, which I have never touched (ex. music player, video player). Could this be the problem and how would I fix this.Any help is appreciated cause at this point I have trouble making it through one whole day with the phone.
View 1 Replies View RelatedTo all those who have battery issues.... How long do you charge your battery for? Check this out:
Saturday night -> Sunday - charged phone for 7 hours
Sunday - about 18-19 hrs of battery life - moderate usage
Charged from 6pm sunday night to 4am monday - (10 hours on charger)
Monday -> Tuesday - 38 hours of battery life - moderate usage
Charged tuesday from 1030pm to 4am wednesday (6 hours on charger
Tuesday - 16 hours of battery life - moderate usage.
BOTTOM LINE: I think the phone says it is charged way before it actually is full. Let me know if anyone else is having the same issues....
So coming from a BB and iPhone I never had to worry about leaving my phone on the charger all night. This being said I would like to do the same with my cappy but I am afraid that I will destroy the battery. Do you guys leave your phone on the charger over night? The only reason I am concerned about this is because the stupid phone actually tells me to unplug it when it is charged. This leads me to believe that it will over charge the battery if I leave it on...

View 18 Replies View RelatedEver since I got my Captivate, I've been charging the battery on and off, here and there, never completely, an hour or so at a time, whenever I noticed it running out. Then I read the manual, and it says there that the battery should be "completely" charged for 4 hours before first use.
Have I caused any damage to the battery? I thought with modern batteries we don't have such restrictions and problems as we did with the old batteries (battery memory, discharging once a month, etc).
I have suffered the shutdown while charging and have traced it to a battery charge indicator app. I would charge the battery at night and the next morning it wouldn't restart without pulling the battery. This occurred concurrently with installing a battery charge indicator app. I uninstalled the app and now the problem has disappeared. My unabated installation of apps has now stopped. I am now convinced that the app world is full of bugs and crap. I bet half the problems that folks have are due to unvetted apps being used. I am now trying to figure out how to properly screen them before I install them and inherit a fatal bug in the process.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy charging cable doesn't seem to plug all the way in when pressed. The phone charges fine, but I am wondering if that is the normal fit or not. It is almost like the sliding door doesn't open wide enough.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen the phone is charging, the "alarm clock plus" app page comes up. When I try to click out to perform any function, it goes back to that page. I am sometimes able to complete another operation, but usually the phone goes back to the "alarm clock plus" page before I can complete it. Any ideas?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been having problems with battery life on my Behold 2. After flashing back to stock BH2 using Odin, the chargers (both the PC-USB plug and the electrical outlet chargers) don't seem to be charging my phone at all. I bought a second battery just in case my original battery had some problems. The same problem is still there.

Can't find anywhere how to do this? Is this normal? It does get pretty warm and not sure if this is good for the screen? When is not plugged it goes to sleep on the 30sec. which is selected?
View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery time I put it on a charger (USB or Wall), it charges and when it's done, the phone awakes and stays on. So if I don't manually put it back into sleep mode, it will sit there all lit up and drain my battery.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe Captivate (and Galaxy S in general) all come with Swype, right? But Swype isn't a market app right now, right? As in, the HTC Aria can't get it unless it is rooted/worked around (not too hard, but a hassle)
So is the Captivate the only phone on AT&T that can officially have swype? We all know that Apple won't let Swype in their market
Is swype coming to the official android market? is it already there? (I don't have an android, but I want one)
I tried to charge my updated phone (baseband I7500XXIG8) on both car lighter charger and third party micro usb charger. When connected, the phone did not recognize that it is being charged at all - but after a while I noticed that the battery widget did show more percentage than before. Even after disconnecting, the percentage varied up and down few percent - from 80% to 85%, then (after heavy usage of 3G, wlan, gps...) jumped to 50%. The rest of discharge was also erratic, i.e. in no way was it smooth discharge curve.
I attribute this to firmware - I don't believe that my chargers cannot supply enough mA or too low voltage and that the phone does not detect it;
After discharging the phone completely (it shut down at 1%, interesting it did not want to turn on 3G under 5%) I charged it with the original charger. After ~20 minutes of charging the battery was on 55%, isn't it a bit too fast?
I'll try to cycle it few times now.
I also guess that this kind of "uncontrolled" charging can at least uncalibrate the battery if not even damage it...
This is totally unacceptable given the already bad or erratic power performance of galaxy. Not being able to charge it the car makes it unusable.
I never heard of such problems with other microusb-charged devices...
Do the apps get stored on the internal SD card on the phone? Or on the section where it says Internal phone storage?

I saw this on a Captivate at the ATT store and it didn't look like there was a way to hide it. This would definitely keep me from upgrading from my current version, 4.3.0. Can you guys take a look and let me know if it's something that can be hidden?
