Aug 24, 2010Just rooted my device, which tethering app is everyone using? I'm trying to install PEDANT but it's having issues. Had WiFi Tether but couldn't make it work either.

Aug 16, 2010Rooted my captivate using the release the beast upgrade. Got rid of the bloatware. added some new apps and tethering. My question is the tethering won't work click on it .it shuts down the wifi .and then it says can't connect. Any ideas?

Samsung Captivate :: Wifi Tethering Not Working
Aug 30, 2010I did search and install wifi tethering but for some reason it doesn't work so this is what I have and my question:
1. I installed wifi tethering. The app seems to work and it indicates my laptop connected. My laptop wifi icon indicated connected but I can't get any internet on explorer. Is there something I miss?
2. I also heard that install USB driver from this forum will do the trick but I can't get it to work? Do I have to install Kies on my laptop?
3. I have a paid version of PDAnet but can't set it up.

Oct 14, 2010I've been reading some posts here and see that AT&T locks down tethering downloading. I tried using my wifi, that didn't work. Tried using AppBrain as a marketto download pdanet or easytether and I get a message saying, "The requested item could not be found"

Jul 20, 2010Well I've been a long time user of WinMo and Iphones. The android world is all new to me. I have a few questions that hopefully are quick to answer:
1)Has anyone used the tethering that came built into the phone? That seems to be the only one that works for me. I tried PDAnet but I can't get it to work. But has anyone noticed that the internet is very slow when tethering?
2)I have rooted the phone and would like to remove some of the AT&T bloatware and what not but before I do, how easy is it to restore the phone back to factory? is it a matter of just using the restore to defaults option? Depending on my experience i may or may not return the phone in the 30 days.
3)Does anyone suggest a nice fast IM program. I'm using Palringo but there seems to be a nice big lag in between switching from buddy lists to chats.
Samsung Captivate :: Any Compatible WiFi Tethering Application?
Jul 27, 2010I have rooted my captivate and downloaded Barnacle, both the legacy and the beta version and both are discoverable from my laptop and ipod touch but none of them can actually connect, I went through all the settings and played around to no avail. I then tried "wireless tether" app which I can't seem to find in appbrain to link but the icon is the WiFi signal strength bar in green if that helps, the only thing this app does is say wi-fi tethering is on but the device doesn't show up at all. My question is are there ANY wifi tethering apps that are currently compatible with a rooted Captivate?

Samsung Epic 4G :: How To Use Inbuilt Tethering?
Aug 31, 2010I was wondering if anyone has figured out how to use the built-in tethering? Once you plug the Epic into a computer you can put it into tether mode, after that it is visible on the computer as a samsung modem, however I don't know how to configure it past there. If anyone has an answer it would help out not only myself, but other Epic owners who don't feel like paying PDANet for a built in feature.

I have seen the apps in the market but I am not too good at this and the instructions aren't that clear so a step by step would be awesome. I tried PDAnet but couldn't get it working any shared experience would help. I only want to do this because my brother was able to tether back in the day with his instinct and connect his PC to his xbox 360 and play online that way so gamers if I can an answer we can all get free connection for xbox live.

Dec 2, 2010I noticed this today, I use my phone to USB tether, and after coming home from running errands today my phone was at about 80% battery life, so I put it on the USB cord that it came with and connected it to my computer so I could check email and facebook, etc. Well after a few hours I took my phone off the charger and the battery had dropped to 40%. How is this possible, I know tethering uses power from the phone, but if its connected to the computer and charging as well, why is it still draining my battery? my droid never had this problem and i tethered all the time, is it possible that I have a bad battery?

I was using simple free phone earlier which doesn't require data plan but after two weeks I bought samsung captivate, AT&T added $25 data plan. I got my phone from AT&T store where my friend works so he took my data plan out of the plan for now but he said they will find out and add into your plan again. Also, He said that they recognize by your IMEI number. My question is: Is there anyway I can change my IMEI number? I was thinking to use my simple free Nokia phone's IMEI number and use it for Samsung Captivate so AT&T thinks that I am using Nokia phone.

Aug 18, 2010After running three updates this morning. I started getting a weird light effect when I unlock my phone. It happens at the top of the screen just to the right below the battery. It's a quick yellow glow then it disappears until my phone is locked then unlocked again. One of the updates had to do with my weather widget [Weather & toggle]. Anyone seen or heard of this?
