Samsung Captivate :: How To Sync Contacts Via ATT Online Address Book?
Sep 21, 2010
so I've looked around but don't see any threads on this....but newho, onto the question. has anybody been able to sync their contacts via ATT online Address Book? I've seen like 5 completed syncs in the log, out of prolly 30 total attempts. Either way, i cant log in to check the contacts online. I get this:

I am looking for an app to sync my D2 contacts to my Microsoft Outlook 2007 address book. Free is preferred but am will to pay for it as long as its not too costly. I was able to do this easily with my Blackberry and now I am part of the Droid nation and need to be able to do it with my D2.

Switched over from iphone 3GS today, rooted, installed Cognition 2.2 BETA7 Now, it's time to put my personal data into the phone! So, what should I do to upload my contacts? Apparently this did not come over from the SIM, but I have the data in the Address Book program on my mac.Should I input this stuff into my google account, directly enter the data into the phone, or something else?

For some reason, while I'm at home, on wifi, everytime I wake my phone up (not sure if it's doing it while it sleeps or not, but battery has gotten worse, so probably) the 3g comes on for about 15 seconds. I see the grey sync arrows come on in the top left. When I pull down the window shade, it pops up a little notification saying something like "phone book contacts are up to date..." or something like that. But it always activates 3g even when I'm on wifi. I even disabled background data and auto-sync and it still did it after I woke it up. Didn't receive my gmail while those were disabled but still tried to sync my phone book with something. Sometimes I can watch it sync the phone book 5 or 6 times in a couple of minute time frame and sometimes I can watch for 10 minutes and it won't sync once...

My calendar syncs in only one direction: in other words if I enter an event on my PC in google calendar, it shows up on my phone...but if I enter the event on the phone first, it doesn't sync to my google calendar online..is that normal?

The Gmail address book on the Web contains a field for birthdays, so why not the Android address book? While I'm sure the app could undergo a lot of changes (and everyone would have different ideas) something as basic as a birthday seems obvious.

I'm planning to buy a new phone next week (last one got stolen), and I'm kinda thinking about an android one. I've got three requirements: -An easily manageble "to do"-list om the home screen (e.g stickynotes) -A good calendar (which may or may not be able to sync with google calendar, no biggie!) -Ability to sync my adress book with an online server (google sync?) every month or so...(That was two years' worth of contacts, damnit Anyway, my question is this: Would an android phone really be the best choice for me? I'm kinda on a tigt budget, and I've heard horror stories of Android phones/Iphones having to connect to the net every day or so... But the only thing I really need the internet for is for syncing (the adress book once a month, the calendar every week or so), checking my mail now and then and for downloading the occasional app (e.g. stickynotes).

So, I haven't been able to sync the AppBrain app up with the online website. I want to download all the apps that I've selected on the website.
I've done this already for about 70 apps.
I've already checked my connection with my gmail account, it's all good. I'm just going to go through and install them all manually, but if anyone has any ideas, let me know.

Can anyone recommend an address book app which allows for full postal addresses, email addresses and phone numbers - and can sync with Outlook on a desktop PC. It would be useful if a touch on the appropriate bit of the file would start up a phone call an email or even a word processor. Phone is a Galaxy running 2.1

I am wondering if anyone has gotten their Motorola Android to share the phone address book with the JBL audio on a Toyota Tacoma. They pair up just fine.I go to the "phone book" nothing there.I go to add an entry "From Phone" it says "please start the transfer from the phone" which I dont see an option for.Someone suggested going to the Networks | Bluetooth then holding down the Car entry, and disabling then enabling the "Phone" entry Tried this, and it doesnt pair and doesnt work.Someone else suggested on the Droid, to export all contacts to a VCF file. Then get the Bluetooth file transfer, and when the car asks to transfer, enable the file transfer. The phone finds the car and starts the transfer but I guess the file format is not good as the car says "Failed".

Just got the HTC Eris and transfered my contacts from my old BlackBerry to the new Eris. Everything's there, actually way more than I need (over 3970 contacts, many duplicates and such. I realize that there is the 'delete duplicates' function on Gmail's contacts page, but sync'ing of that many contacts to go back and edit the contacts that I would like to keep on the phone, has really slowed down the phone, eaten battery big-time and in 3-4 days only 501 contacts have come across. I really don't need that many and was only planning on having the people I call on a daily basis. So, I turned off the sync function on the phone and the phone is running a bit better, but having to scroll or search through that many contacts takes for ever to do.
I would like to find a sync conduit (that works with my PowerBook Mac running Tiger 10.4.11) that I could sync via USB my contacts off of this phone, edit the ones to keep, re-populate (replace) the contacts. At this point I would just turn on the phone sync function(with the fewer contacts) and let them populate Gmail. How is this possible? Many of the suggested downloads I have seen online haven't really stated that they work with my Mac OS. Is there a faster way to have the contacts sync'd up to gmail and maybe just edit everything up there on line?

I have the MotoX on AT&T. My phone's address book ("People") won't sync with AT&T's online address book over WiFi. When I turn my phone's WiFi connection off, I can sync my address book. When I turn my phone's WiFi connection on, I can't sync. I tried this several times.
I can sync over the mobile data connection, but not over WiFi?

I am new to android (never owned one before), and will be getting my first android device soon. I have one gmail account, another mail account with google apps and a yahoo mail account, so my contacts are spread around. So I made a separate gmail account just so that I could fetch all contacts at one place and delete the ones I dont need, and then do selective contact sync with android device. I will also use this account to back up my SMS's and any other kind of data that can be backed up in cloud.
I wanted to ask you guys when setting up the device, should I use my newly created gmail account as primary account or the one that I am using on daily basis?? My main concern is that once I bought apps with one account, I wont be able to use another account again later, so I want to get it right from the start. Also, can android still use calender and email from my other gmail accounts as primary calender/email??

If I fill out the address and birthday fields on the web site contacts page. Sync to my phone fails. If I fill out the address field on my phone, then it doesn't complete the relevant fields on the web site. The address fields on the web site are different to the phone and fields on the site are not supported by the phone's address book. It seems like the two are running different software and are slightly incompatible

The last stock update to my Galaxy SII somewhat messed it up, it started running boiling hot, drining the battery without showing any CPU or anything. So today I installed the stable CyanogenMod (10.1.3) and so far it doesn't have this problem. Two important questions:
- how do I get my gmail address book inside the phone ? Under Settings/Accounts I only see CyanogenMod, and trying to add one gives me Corporate (Exchange), CyanogenMod (again) and Email.
- how do I get Swype ? It's not available from the Language&Input settings.
- how do I view the external SD card from the file manager ? It only shows the internal storage.

I'm sure plenty of people have wanted to the same as I am asking but I'm not sure how to handle it.. Basically I do NOT want a contact to pop up into my address book on my Droid Eris every time I email someone new. I understand the convenience of having the two contact lists linked but on the other hand the option not to have them together must be available.

I just got my Droid X today, and while I haven't had much time to play with it, I'm loving it already One thing I realized, however, is that it will be a pain to put every number from my old address book into the one on my DX. Is there any way I can do this without entering every single number manually? I have a Motorola Karma QA1 on AT&T with all my numbers on it, and I want to get them on my Droid X.

And how do I get rid of it? When I want to send a message, I get a mountain of address book options because my email addresses from my Gmail account appear to have automatically imported themselves in to my contact list (I don't recall authorizing this). Anyway, I want to get rid of them so I just see my phone contacts (phone numbers only).

This is for people who use GPS a lot. Before I would create groups just for my texting, but Navigation works great too. Took a wine trip to Santa Barbara. Had a few places (hotel, boat cruise, wineries, Santa Barbara Mission, some restaurants, that taco stand Julia Child made famous, etc.), and just created a contact for each. No inputting on phone or using voice, it's already done.Had concert @ Hollywood Bowl. They have shuttle service at some offsite locations like the LA Zoo or in Studio City. I just create a group called Concerts, and copy and paste address from website.Meeting friend at bar never been to? Already have a Group called Bars. Just copy and paste address, and your done.I have groups for everything. Family, San Francisco, San Diego friends, Hotels, Bars, sporting venues, whatever. I cross link whenever I can, Just hit People and slide over to Groups. The whole goal for me is just to hit buttons, and not have to input anything when I'm on run. Use it like AppBrain. So much easier to manage everything from Google contacts page. Just copy and paste eveything.Best part is, can delete or add anytime. Also saves me battery since doing stuff on computer, and everything is synced automatically.
