Oct 30, 2010I have a Captivate. My ATT phonebook DOES NOT WORK, i cannot get it to sync it never has worked. So my Question is HOW can i backup my Phone contacts to a server Online?

Sep 21, 2010so I've looked around but don't see any threads on this....but newho, onto the question. has anybody been able to sync their contacts via ATT online Address Book? I've seen like 5 completed syncs in the log, out of prolly 30 total attempts. Either way, i cant log in to check the contacts online. I get this:

Is it through an app or a default program or what? I downloaded titanium backup but do i use that to backup every one of the files that i have on the list? and if i do, how do i activate the backup and wipe the new stuff?

Oct 23, 2010Ok I figured out how to delete the ATT bloatware off the Captivate using Titanium Backup. But how do I reinstall it? I only deleted 'ATT Family Maps' for now until I can figure out how to reinstall things, incase I have a problem later and need to go back to ATT. I clicked 'backup' before i deleted it. But I don't know what buttons to press to get stuff back from the backup.

Sep 30, 2010When i click on batch, then run to backup my apps it jumps back to the Backup/Restore screen with all the apps, nothing gets backed up. I have backed up before with Titanium and it worked. I reinstalled Busybox, didn't help. If i uninstall and reinstall will i lose all the things i did like freeze apps etc ? When i try to update through the marketplace it says installation error, package file was not signed correctly.

Sep 10, 2010I just recently switched from a Window Mobile phone to the Captivate and I am loving it thus far. Aside from the standard gripes about gps i have nothing to complain.
I am however having trouble comprehending how google syncs my contacts. I have my contacts set up exactly how i want them on my google account online i.e. co workers freinds family grouping. I would like my phone to display the contacts in the same fashion, but it seems the google sync is only one way from my phone to my account and not the other way around.
How can i get my contacts to sync from my google account so that they show up as i have them set up online without having to do every individual one on the phone.

All is good there.My problem is that the handsfree bluetooth system in my car will only sync contacts with the Captivate's built-in Phone address book (vs the "Corporate" address book in Contacts Display Options).Right now, I have been exporting Corporate Contacts to the SD card and then importing them from the SD card into the Phone contacts. This can be a chore when I have to add/modify/delete a contact in my Corporate contacts as I have to delete all the Phone contacts and then redo the export/import every time there is a change.Is there anyway to sync changes automatically between the Corporate address book and the Phone address book? Am I overlooking something really simple?

Guess I have to wait for 2.2 to be able to back it up to my PC? Looks like the Samsung Kies program isn't available for the US right now and I don't want to root it until after the update.
My PC doesn't even see it. I changed my USB settings in the phone to "ask on connection", chose "mass storage" and two new Removable Disks popped up (in My Computer) but both ask me to insert a disk in the drive.
Am I trying to treat this android like an iphone when I shouldn't be?

Aug 28, 2010I purchased my Captivate about 3 days ago, and for the most part I love it. Context: I was given a brand new SIM card for it I switched from a Blackberry Bold.The AT&T rep. tried using the machine that connects both phones and synchs contacts from one to the other, but it did not work. My question is: How do you synch contacts from a Blackberry to the Captivate? Before you answer, let me say that I do have a Gmail account and I know the Contacts app can synch with the account, but I do not store my friend's phone numbers on there - and I do not want to individually input each one. Also, I own a Mac and when I had my blackberry I did not back up my contacts on my Mac, and did not have Outlook to back them up onto even if I had tried backing them up - so I cannot simply export my contacts to .csv and load them up to Gmail. There is more I can say (for instance, it seems as if my contacts have been put onto my Captivate, but they're not in the Contacts App that came preloaded with the Captivate...they are, instead, in the folders section under Contacts...how the heck did they get there?!) but I will stop here and see if anyone can guide me through this very frustrating process.

May 7, 2013I've checked my phone's sync settings, synced several times, logged in and out of Gmail online to see if anything has been updated. No such luck. Icon by phone numbers saved on phone is a cell phone, rather than the letter "G" which typically represents contacts pulled from Gmail online. I've had this issue - I believe - with my previous Samsung. Although I've seen this question brought up before, the answers are typically not device specific or have not been useful and clear to follow.
As a new user, I had difficulty negotiating this site and finding the best place to post this. There is not an LG Optimus L9 Forum so, if there is a location where this post might encourage more visibility.
