Just notice that when I use the provided email app with exchange it forwards emails as attachment. So when I go to read the email in lets say yahoo all I see is an attachment file. Is there any way to make it forward the message in-line? If not is there an app that will allow me to do this? Does touchdown do this? Any other apps that are cheaper or free?

I can't seem to get the stock email client to connect with my companies exchange server. Using touchdown I can connect.I am running the recently leaked 2.2 OS and also tried with the 2.1 OS. Both failed with the error "Username or password incorrect (Authentication failed.)"

View 3 Replies View RelatedOn the Captivate for AT&T, is there a way to set up call forwarding to my home number BEFORE I travel to another country? When travelling I don't want my phone to ring or else i'd get charged international roaming rates for the voicemail if one is left, so I need any incoming calls to go immediately straight to my home phone without the call reaching the Captivate while i'm abroad. While i'm overseas I use my phone for text messaging, no voice to save money. I do this with my Palm Treo Pro all the time when travelling, set up the network so that the call immediately gets forwarded to my home number.

We have several smartphones ... android based with email through our Exchange 2003 server using activesync. THE PROBLEM: When users attempt to forward an email to another domain users mailbox ... the email is never received. It shows in the outbox in both the phone and Exchange outbox (sent items). If I forward the email from me to me, the email is successful. Also, if an email is sent directly to a domain user, the email is received (no forwarding) without any problem. All other aspects of activesync appear to work fine. Still have not found an Iphone to test against.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm a newbie to this forum, and hope someone can help. Have had the Captivate for almost a month now and am plagued by an annoying problem. I have set up email accounts connecting to a google-hosted email account via IMAP. I am finding that when replying to a received email, my reply goes out with redundant repetitions of the email address on the "to" line. Example: Email from soandso@gmail.com arrives. I click "reply" on the phone and the reply goes out to soandso@gmail.com; soandso@gmail.com; soandso@gmail.com; soandso@gmail.com etc etc *10 times*, instead of just once. It also copies me about 10 times! Is anybody else seeing this? I use this for work emails, so it looks very unprofessional like I am trying to spam my clients! I have another couple of days before my 30-day return period is up, so hopefully someone else know how to fix this. Is there some setting I am overlooking?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy battery is still really, really bad. I did manage to last an entire day with 30 percent left by not using it at all, but other than that, that's pretty useless. If I wanted to exchange the battery, would I be able to do that rather than turning over the entire phone and getting back a new one? I don't feel the capacity to hard reset this phone, give it in, then re-root and do all the things I'm supposed to do with this phone all over again.

When I use the default email client from captivate, even when I set the checking period as every 10mins, I won't get new emails unless I open the app and manually refresh, well, except the one of gmail. This happens on my yahoo email, hotmail and my school email, which all worked fine on my old iphone. People have talked about yahoo mails won't be accessible through wifi from Android, which happens on mine too. But even when I was at 3G, the email client won't auto check it either. I have tried K9 email client, it doesn't work either. The only thing I find work is the MailDriod, but the function of this app is very limited, it won't even open attachments by default. Does anyone else here have the same problem, or maybe an idea to fix the default email client?Also, I find when I use the ear set make calls, when I try to click the button on the ear set, it won't hang up the call as my iphone would. Is this a bug or just something Andriod can't do? The button on the ear set seems quite useless with Captivate, it can only control to play or pause by single click when play music, won't do song change when doule click it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI know a lot of us are considering returning our Captivates before the 30 day window is up if there isn't a fix released from Samsung for the GPS problems. I wanted to share what happened tonight. Went into a corporate store and explained to the manager that I wanted to simply exchange my phone for another one, being that my GPS wasn't obtaining a lock. A rep overheard our conversation and blurted out that the "Samsung rep that was in yesterday stated that they are working on a fix that will be out in the next 2 weeks". I explained to the sales manager that the "2 weeks" was beyond the exchange period for me, and I wasn't very comfortable about waiting it out. He kindly offered to extend my 30 day exchange period, for another month. He took out his card, and wrote on the back, Captivate exchange, extended and good until 9/15/2010. I would recommend getting into the stores and getting your 30's extended as well! It cant hurt to give Samsung a few more weeks to try and get this fix out before we start returning these phones in mass quantities.

However, on my phone....when I into Account Settings>Incoming Settings and try to change the password. I get "Two exchange accounts allowed". It seems it thinks I'm trying to setup a third account rather than change the password to the existing account.
How do I change the password? (I've thought about deleting the account....but my fear is that it will create another instance of calendar and contacts. which happened once before, also annoying...if anyone knows how to get rid of the old duplicated calendars.)
My friend told me that it is not easy to set up and sync exchange email. Just want to ask your expert opinion if this is correct before I order the captivate. Also please advise what app can I use to sync exchange mail.

Even when I try to refresh my corporate email doesn't update. I have it set on Push, so the email should automatically flush into my inbox. I have two other gmail accounts synced to the SF and they work fine.

As a past Blackberry user as well I have basic functionality needs of a email app and this may be the deal breaker. I have my Exchange account setup and working however when I open or select an email there is no option to move the email to a folder. So am I blind or screwed! View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm at my wits end with my 2nd Captivate. I returned the first one 2 weeks after purchase when it started to randomly shutdown. Then all was well for 2+ months and now my 2nd phone is starting to shut down randomly. To add insult to injury, after the latest OTA the phone is locking up, crashing the email app and freezing the messaging app. Sometimes I have to reboot just get email to start syncing again. Worse still, with Exchange PIN security enabled, the phone doesnt always accept the Enter/OK keypress after putting in the PIN so i'm stuck at the unlock screen. 100% stock never-rooted phone and no funky apps. I can't rely on this phone anymore, plus Exchange support is still mediocre. What do I do at this point? Exchange it for another unit? Wait for Froyo? Wait for WP7 phones? ATT has nothing that comes even close in terms of HW features. I came from a Samsung Blackjack 1, then 2, then Jack and all were great phones. This is such a letdown from Samsung.

I've entered all of the correct info to connect to my corporate exchange server, but immediately after setting up the account (and on all subsequent attempts to get into that email account), the "Loading..." screen appears with a spinning wheel and never goes away.
End result is that I cannot receive any email from that account nor can I pull down my contacts.
I am connected to my gmail account just fine.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a co-worker who suddenly can not connect to her Exchange account via her phone. It mysteriously stopped syncing emails on Dec. 5, and since then the phone can not connect to the server. Error message reported is "Unable to connect to server." I even completely deleted the Exchange account from the phone and attempted to re-add it, but adding a new account failed with the same error message.
The weird thing is that the account worked perfectly fine before Dec. 5, and we can't think of anything that changed on the phone or on the server at that time. Meanwhile, other Android phones in our workplace continue to receive messages from the Exchange server, including my own Nexus 4 with the exact same server settings and another co-worker's Droid Razr.
The problem phone is a Samsung Galaxy S on US Cellular, running Android 2.3.6.

Is there some way to prevent it from syncing email? I only want the calendar to sync, but I can't find an option to disable email syncing. Any apps that can accomplish this?

I am looking for an app/setting/switch/solution that automatically does what I already do manually. Specifically, what I'm doing is forwarding MMS pictures sent to my phone to my email. Its doable, I know the basic process. Unfortunately I have to do this manually every time. As there are a lot of pictures that must be forwarded every day... I am looking for something that, when an MMS is recieved, automatically forwards it to my email, or even just another phone number. Something that automatically inputs my email into the "send to" field of this phone's SMS app. I've sifted through easily 20 different apps that all claim to have the functionality I'm looking for, but not one actually accomplishes this.

All it shows are two weekly reoccuring meetings that I have every Friday. I checked last week's entries and same thing shows? I've looked into the settings and sync and everything seems right.

I have synchronized my phone with my exchange server and appear to have lost most of my appointments, and some of the ones that I didn't loose have replicated themselves many times. Does anyone know what caused this, how to stop it, and is it possible to recover the lost appointments? I know I had a lot of things scheduled for this week, but with the exception of a few things that have either been there for a long time or are reoccurring appointments, they are all gone.
